Beware the great Asian domain name scam I received an email this morning, thus: "(This is a very important case, so please transfer this email to your CEO or appropriate person. Thanks a lot.) Dear CEO/Principal, We are the department of Asian Domain Registration Service in China. Here I have something to confirm with you. We formally received an application on November 5th, 2013 that a company claimed "Corykport Company" were applying to register "addigital" as their Net Brand and some "addigital" Asian countries top-level domain names through our firm. Now we are handling this registration, and after our initial checking, we found the name were similar to your company's, so we need to check with you whether your company has authorized that company to register these names. If you authorized this, we would finish the registration at once. If you did not authorize, please let us know within 7 workdays, so that we could handle this issue better. After the deadline we will unconditionally finish the registration for "Corykport Company" Looking forward to your prompt reply. Best Regards, Neil Dong Senior Consultant Manager" Immediately suspicious because the email and its logo are such poor quality, and, I'd never heard of Corykport Company, much less figured what it had to do with ADDIGITAL, I did a bit of research. It is indeed a scam and has been around for a few years. Warning to fellow businesses.  The calendar advertising scam is back in town! You may receive a phone call from a charity you've never heard of. They'll claim that they contacted you in January and you offered to help - they're banking on you either a) being forgetful or b) being so busy, you'll agree. MINE WAS FROM THE 'CHILDREN'S SAFETY CAMPAIGN' They will then try to sting you to advertise on a calendar or wall-planner which will cost the earth, look rubbish (previous experience) and none will go to said charity. I always ask them if they got an order number or a signature? When they say yes, I ask them to send proof and if they say no, then there's been no contact. In both cases, the phone goes down. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
