Alright guys it’s been a while but I felt like this one be a good subject to post on. Before getting starting I do have a full video on my YouTube channel showing everything I am talking about in this post.

Recently I got the urge to set up a “spr” style rifle. I’ve always thought the idea of taking a standard “infantry” style rifle and giving it a little longer barrel and a bit more magnification. That being said I had what I think is the perfect candidate for this. Last year solgw sent out one of their exo3 16” complete uppers for me to use and review. That I think is the perfect base to start with. To go with that I have a brownells Mpo 1-6 optic sitting in a Midwest industries qd mount. While I do want to eventually switch this out for a little bit more magnification with something like the leupold mk4. Then the Harris bipod is a key feature of this rifle. The lower is just my typical Anderson stripped lower that I then fill with all the forward controls designs parts and a geissele trigger. The thing that I think is important with this rifle is still keeping the ability to do regular rifle things. To do that we have all the regular rifle accessories like the streamlight vir2 for the ir laser, modlite okw hooked to a Unity hot button, and having the griffin reece 5 to keep it suppressed.

I just recently finished getting this all together and got to take it out for a few hundred rounds. So far I’ve just been getting my bearings since it has been a while since I’ve shot at any actual distances. After zeroing the rifle I began taking shots and doing 1 up drills at ranges varying from 100 yards up to 236 yards today. It’s somewhat difficult to find shots in my woods where I can see my steel plates through the woods. So far though this thing has been a blast to shoot and run. Definitely stay tuned to keep up on what’s going on with this mini series. I plan on focusing a lot of the time I put into my content on just this single project so things will be moving pretty fast.

All good rifles have to start from a good,solid base. My base happens to be a bcm 14.5” upper and a bcm complete lower that I picked up from Brownells a long long time ago. A lot has changed on the base rifle since then but we will get into that shortly. Once I had the solid base to start my go to rifle build on I had to start thinking about the other things I would need like optics, light, sling, etc. at this point I’m going to fast forward 5 or 6 years to now since there no reason explaining all the old parts I had vs the parts I have today.

So as you can see in the picture above, this is a very busy setup. I wanted something extremely versatile and that could be applied to pretty much any situation. So with that let’s talk about sighting systems. Like I just said, I wanted something versatile so I went with the extremely proven eotech system. Funny thing about that is this is the exact same optic I bought for this rifle years ago when I started this. Going along with the eotech we have the eotech g43 magnifier combo that brownells sells asa set. The Unity Omni mount is basically the only way I can tolerate running a magnifier and the reward of being able to instantly have 3x magnification is extremely satisfying. Along with sighting systems we might as well touch on the laser. I just recently upgraded my holosun ls321 to the Steiner dbal d2. Which so far I am absolutely loving it. While it is on of the heavier units available it definitely is no slouch when it comes to performance.

Next we can talk about basically everything else on the rifle. Starting off with the light, I now have 4 of these because I like them that much. The modlite okw, these are extremely durable and powerful lights. Like I said I have multiple variations of this in 18350 , 18650, rifle, pistol, and helmet mounted and I really really like each of them.

Next up… the can. I just recently picked this up and I’m loving it. It is a griffin armament reece5. So far performance has been awesome, plus I really like the simplicity of their taper mount system. The device I’m using under it is their taper mount 3 prong flash hider which is a pretty damn good device on its own.

Since this is getting long winded I will blast through the remaining items pretty quickly.

B5 sopmod stock- a staple in the industry

And the bcm mlok rail, grip, and the new mk2 charging handle are all awesome.

All right guys so this weeks post I wanted to make about what I’m doing to prepare for a carbine course that I am taking this month. This post isn’t meant to be a exact formula for what you should do. It is more meant to be a way to show what I’m doing and maybe to get an idea of what would work for you.

The first step is to head over to brownells and grab yourself a case of rifle ammo, and use code BOP10 to save some money on that. I grabbed a case which was perfect. They gave me 500 rounds to train with over the couple weekends that I have before the class. And then it gives me 500 rounds to take to the class.

The course that I’m taking is through MDFI which is a local company here in Michigan to me that offers a ton of really cool firearms training at various locations in Michigan. The class and I’m gonna take us their foundation carbine. Luckily, I was able to find a foundation qualifier PDF file on their website so I can get a little bit of a Headstart on that.

Overall, I really like this, because all four of the shooting drills in my opinion are very useful even outside of just preparing for this class. Next weeks post is going to be about another very good training aid that I highly recommend picking up. All four of the shooting drills have a par time of six seconds, which is very easily achievable, even while taking your time And making good well-placed shots. There is also a qualifier target that is printable in the same PDF file that prints on just a single sheet of paper. It is supposed to be shot from 15 yards which seems like it is very close but you can easily shoot outside of the box from this distance.

For me, I have found this very useful to do as a preparation for this class. I’m sure there is tons of things that I’m going to learn in this class that will make this even easier to do. But I think this is a very good start for anyone that wants to just be prepared to go to their first rifle course.

Hi guys, so this weeks post is going to be about my thoughts after owning my night vision for a week. So ever since I got the night vision, I have taken it out every single night since getting it from Brownells and there are a handful of things I feel like I should mention in this post. Things being stuff that I thought was going to be true that I found out we’re not and things that I, just happen to notice while using it. That being said, let’s get into it.

First things first, I didn’t realize how much the weather played a role in using a vision. The day that I got my PVS 14 we just so happen to be in a new moon phase so there was absolutely no moon visible. That being said, I was still blown away the first time I use this, even though it was the worst night to be using night vision. Things like ambient light from more populated locations or even just the moon make a huge difference in using night vision. One more thing to consider is cloud coverage, so I’ve been using mine primarily in the woods where it’s already darker, but then you add no moon and cloud coverage, and it’s very dark, but yet I was still amazed by the performance of this nightvision device.

The second thing I want to talk about is movement under night vision. Initially, I thought this was going to be a very hard task from everything I’ve ever heard before but to my surprise it was actually very easy. Walking through the woods and on trails and even walking around in my pole barn with a bunch of junk all over the place , I didn’t have any issues with doing that. I think the main thing to keep in mind when you’re doing this is remember that you’re wearing a night vision device and remember that your senses are a little bit decreased and then you should be fine. I do think it’s very important though to get out and walk around and move and do things with your night vision before you expect to be some high tier operator with it.

Next up is going to be the night vision accessories that I have mounted on my rifle and pistol. Initially, I didn’t really know what to expect with this. When using the sionyx camera and looking at my IR output, I wasn’t blown away with the performance of any of the items that I chose. But once having proper night vision in hand, they work far better than what they look like on the camera. Obviously, just like with all civilian illuminator devices I wish the illuminator on my holosun had a little bit more power behind it. But the laser itself has been fantastic. The Modlite ir850 light head is ridiculously powerful, and will basically light up the woods for as far as you can see, and then that brings me to the streamlight vir2 that I have mounted on the Glock 44. Overall, I’m very happy with that for the price and it comes in that I think it’s a fantastic option. It throws a fair amount of flood which is nice for a pistol and the laser itself is very easy to pick up as well. I’ve been very happy with all the choices that I had made in the IR department.

Overall, the biggest hurdle with us is just getting the night vision itself. Once you do that, then you can figure the rest out very easily. Like I mentioned earlier in this, I got mine from brownells, which I will have links down below to check them out. Hey guys, so this weeks post is very exciting to me. It has been a long time coming. That being said, I finally ordered my PVS 14 night vision monocular from brownells.

So I figure in this post I will go through what you can expect if you order one of these and also go through what all it comes with and my first impressions. Next weeks post will be my one week of only night vision and I will explain everything that I either found out or realized what I thought. I was wrong after using it every single night since getting it.

So originally I placed my order and on the Brownells website, this is a ship from manufacture item. So with that being said, it typically takes longer to receive it I contacted customer service and asked what the leadtime was and I was told by someone that it will be 4 to 8 weeks which I kind of expected , so I wasn’t surprised at all. What had me surprised was when I got a text from FedEx saying that a package from the manufacture was going to be delivered three days later. I’m not sure if that was just a fluke thing or if this is what you can expect, but I was very pleasantly surprised to receive it very quickly.

Overall, the contents of the package are pretty standard. Across-the-board you get a pretty nice bag that houses everything you get your full manual, your spec sheet a couple of accessory’s, and then the night vision monocular itself originally when I ordered this I was a little concerned at if it was going to be a quality tube or not considering it is a site mark product And I couldn’t find a whole lot about them online. But again I was very pleasantly surprised when I got eyes on the spec sheet and realize it was actually a extremely nice tube and it definitely shows when using it. Overall, it’s all very standard nothing weird with the housing or controls comes with the J arm mount, so I was able to use my rhino mount that I have on my ops core helmet.

So like I originally said, I was very surprised at how good the spec sheet was with this tube and I have really been enjoying using it. Like I said earlier, I have used it every night since getting it. That way I can do a very authentic video, explaining everything that I experienced with it after the first week. Night vision is definitely a game changer, and in my opinion, there is absolutely no comparison between this and a digital night vision device. I do still plan on grabbing another mount to do a budget night vision versus analog night, vision comparison using my Sionyx aurora as a night vision device like a lot of people show that they do online. But before even doing that, I can tell you it’s going to be a night and day difference from what I’ve already seen with both of them.

Hi guys, so for this weeks post, I figured I would go over the newest upgrades that I picked up from brownells for my stribog revival project.

As I put in my previous post about this, I did get the A3 tactical lower and a handful of magpul scorpion pmags do use in this. So I placed another order through brownells to get a couple of other parts that I needed to finish this.

What I ended up going with with to finish this off was the CMC 3.5 pcc flat face trigger. I do have experience with these triggers and they are not bad for what they are. I’m not the biggest fan of dropping traders but I think they are a very good option for most people.

The other part that I needed was a safety. I ended up going with the seekins precision Ambi safety. I like this one because it gives you the option of running 90° or 60° as I currently have it set up in the 60° configuration and really like it. For my optics I ended up putting my odg eotech xps2 on the green Unity fast mount. I really like this set up because in my opinion the XPS by itself is a little low for this application so having the fast mount available was perfect.

The light system that I’m going to use is it going to be my 18350 Modlite with the OKW head. That is mounted on the unity fusion modbutton with the fusion light wing mount. I really like this set up. I did have it on my green geissele build for a while, but ended up switching that to get some thing tighter to the ir device.

Overall, I’m very pleased with how this turned out. The last thing left to do is grab a case of ammo and really see what this set up will do. There will be links down below to check out these products from brownells. Also, you can check out the videos of this using the YouTube link.

All right guys, so like the title says This weeks post is going to be about the triggers that I’m currently using and have enjoyed the most so far.

As always all the triggers in this post are available over at brownells and if you use code BOP 10 you can save 10% on orders over 150. I don’t get anything from that. Just hopefully if somebody sees this post and is in the market they can save a couple bucks.

So to start off with, let’s start with the one that I’ve been liking the most, and I’ve been using the most since I got it. That being the Geissele government to stage trigger. This is my first two stage trigger that I’ve owned and even used which I was skeptical to begin with, since I had no experience with two-stage triggers. But since then I’ve grown to really really enjoy this trigger and I plan on picking up a couple more. Overall, the two separate stages is actually really nice. Once you get through the first one the second one is super smooth of a break and it makes it very easy to put good quality shots down range. The main thing I don’t like about the Geissele triggers is the price. I understand they are a higher quality trigger that probably has a lot more quality control, and more work put into them, but some of them get very very pricey and I think they are out of a lot of peoples budget for a Traeger. I do think that they are worth the money because they are really good but at the same time most of the models are out of peoples price range. That being said, there are a couple of lower cost Geissele options available on brownells that come in at a really good price that are definitely worth looking at I think.

Next up is a option that I think a lot more people are willing to take. That option is a drop in style box trigger. The ones that I have the most experience with are the CMC triggers. I have a handful of them now, and they’ve always worked pretty well for me. They are all single stage triggers with a variety of different triggers shoes. I have two AR versions one is the CCT shoe which is the combat curve trigger. The other one I have in my BRN 180 is a flat face trigger the thing that I really like about the CMC flat face triggers if they have a shelf at the bottom of them to where some of the other options on the market, don’t they are just a straight flat trigger, I also just picked one up from brownells about a week ago, which is the CMC pcc flat face trigger for my A3 tactical Stribog lower. It feels exactly the same as the flat face trigger in my BR in 180 which I’m OK with. The CMC single stage triggers are very nice. Have a light pull with a solid crisp break. The only thing I don’t like about these drop in triggers is they don’t exactly feel like they’re a part of the firearm when you’re using them. A traditional trigger feels like it’s truly a part of the receiver to wear these just don’t. That’s very hard to explain but I think people that have both styles of trigger can’t understand what I’m trying to say. Both of the triggers that I have mentioned in this post are very quick triggers. They’re very easy to use rapidly or for more precision work. Both are very solid upgrades that are definitely worth checking out but I do have one more that I think I should mention, so that’s Up Next.

The easiest and cheapest option is just a very good high-quality milspec trigger. There’s nothing wrong with these millions of them get used every year and they work fantastic. That being said there are some that are better than others. Personally, I think one of the better ones that I have used is the one that came in my BCM lower. I don’t believe it was anything special. I think it was just their mil spec trigger, but it is noticeably nicer than some of the lower cost to options that I previously had. These can be purchased for very good prices and are going to work, just as well as the others for most people myself included honestly.

That being said, I think the main thing is to build a good quality rifle with good quality parts and optics a good light a good sling and just get out get some rounds on it try to do some training and then decide what you want from there. Alright so for this weeks post I figured I’d better make it about something very cool that I picked up from brownells a little while back. That being the spiritus systems expander wings.

So, like I said, I’ve had these for a while now, and have been absolutely loving them. I figure I would break down some of the features about them and the uses that I have been getting out of them.

So to start with these are a add-on option to essentially any chest rig or plate carrier that has a Velcro portion that you can add onto. I’ve been using mine with the spiritus systems micro fight chest rig that I have posted about previously. So before getting into this, I think it’s worth mentioning that there are two different versions of these, there is a molle style version and then the other version like I have. The overall set up is extremely easy and actually adds a lot of function to your plate, carrier or chest rig.

The overall idea of these is obviously added storage. They do come with a elastic bungee and a adjustable squeeze clip thing. The way I have mine set up is on the back panel of the micro fight placard I removed the Velcro panel cover, installed the expander wings on there and then replaced the back panel cover. Once you do that all you do is route , the shoulder and back strap through the expander wings and you’re all set. The way I did mine was I only ran three out of the four straps through the expander wings themselves. That way it’s easier to take the whole chest rig on and off.

The way that I’ve been using mine is mainly two different ways. The main beauty of the expander wings is they aren’t made for just one certain item. I’ve been using mine with a small Nalgene bottle to have some extra water on me. I’ve also been storing two 5.56 mags inside of each for added magazine capacity. Like I said, in my video that I did on these and the possibilities are endless with this on what you could use them for. My plan in the future is to use one for a thermal monocular since that should be a perfect fit inside as well.

My final thoughts on this are that I think these are a must have item. You essentially double your magazine capability. While also adding storage for pretty much anything you can think of that you might need that will fit in them. Overall, the materials are fantastic. I’ve been using it out in the woods, running around going prone, etc. and haven’t had any issues at all with it. I actually think that the chest rig fits better with these installed because it keeps the straps more linear rather than allowing them to move up or down. Overall, I’m very happy with these and I’m very glad that I ended up going ahead and getting them.

All right guys so this weeks post something I’m pretty excited about. I’ve had the Stribog for a couple years now. And have always really enjoyed it, but there were always little things about it that did sort of bother me.

So recently, I placed an order with Brownell’s for a three pack of magpul scorpion pmags. Those magazines were for something very cool that was on its way to me. That product being the A3 tactical stribog lower. The beauty of the stribog in this situation is the fact that the upper receiver is the “serialized” part of the firearm. So swapping out the oem lower for this new one was as simple as can be. this post is going to basically be a part one to the revival of my stribog.

So let’s get into some of the pros about the slower. The first and biggest pro in my opinion is the fact that it uses scorpion magazines. Like I said, I got a three pack of the magpul magazines from brownells for a super good price. And of course, with the edge program getting free two day shipping is always a plus. The next biggest thing about it is the fact that it uses Ar pattern parts. What I currently have on it is a type 23B5 systems grip. My plan is to pick up a single stage PCC trigger of some sort from brownells, and I believe I have a Geissele ambi safety laying around that will work perfect for this.

The controls on the lower itself are extremely nice to use. They are machined upgraded parts from A3. The magazine release is extremely pleasant to use and same with the bolt release lever. The way I currently have it set up is with my 18 350 modlite and a Eotech xps2 on a Unity fast mount. I’m not sure if I will keep it. That way I might switch the optic to a Trijicon MRO. Brownells has them on sale right now and it’s extremely tempting to get my hands on one to try. My plan is also to form one of us within a few weeks. That way I can get rid of this hideous MP5 style brace.

Overall, I’m extremely excited to revisit this gun and finally give it the upgrades that I think it deserves. All right guys so this week my post is going to be about a small test that I did to check out the durability of the different types of magazines that I like to use. All the testing I did it’s going to be dropped testing for this. dropped it from about head to shoulder height onto concrete, and then the second round was on some rocks around my fire pit.

Overall pretty much all the mags did perfectly fine. They all got beat up a little bit and scratched up some worse and others, but all of them would have functioned fine for the most part after these drops.

So I guess the easiest way to do this is I’ll just list the magazines that I used and leave my thoughts on each one. Note that all the magazines were filled all the same to standard capacity and everyone of them did pop out a couple rounds when dropped.

1- magpul gen3 pmag

2- surefeed by okay industries

3- geissele branded D&H

4- brownells branded okay Industries

5- duramag by c products

6- lancer systems L5 awm

So to start off with, I would say the Magpul P Mag did the best out of all of the magazines. The only thing that happened to the magpul was I got some alumahyde chipped off. Other than that it did fantastic with no damage whatsoever.

Next up, this is going to cover the surefeed, the D&H, and the brownells mag. These ones are all pretty much did exactly the same. They held up great. They got a little dented and scratched up but we’re totally functional with minor floor plate deformation that was easily fixed after the testing.

Now comes the magazine then I would say did the worst out of all of them. And none of this is scientific. It could just be a fluke incident, but the whole reason I did the test was to see what happened so I have to say that it in the worst , the Dura mag seem to have a lot more damage to the magazine, body itself. The ridge on the back of the magazine that the follower runs in God did it up pretty badly, which made it hard for the follower to get past 20 rounds. Also, the floor plate on the duramag was just about off, by the end of its first drop cycle. The main issue that I had with the duramag was the feed lip cracked when none of the other ones did. All the magazines were dropped exactly the same as close as I could physically get them to be. Overall, I wouldn’t say the derma ag is a bad magazine, but it definitely had a rough time during this.

Last, but not least is the magazine that pretty much Spond, the whole idea of doing this in my head. I have heard from countless different people at the Lancer systems. Magazines are prone to cracking and breaking feed lips right off and so on luckily for me, I didn’t have hardly any issues at all with the Lancer , I had one small little flake of plastic come off the top of the magazine, but it in no way affected the performance of the magazine and to be honest had I not seen it. I probably wouldn’t have even noticed it had happened. Definitely will be picking up a few more of these to be testing the longevity of them.

Overall, this testing didn’t go at all how I planned it would go. I was actually very surprised by the results and if you’re interested, I do have a whole video of this on my YouTube channel where you can see everything that happened during this.

Alright guys so this week’s product that I talk about is going to be the holosun ls321r. This is one of the more affordable infrared laser devices on the market. I got mine from brownells for a great deal, which I’ll leave links down below to where you can find it.

First off this is going to be a first impressions/what comes with it type of post. I am still waiting for a certain PVS 14 to be back in stock so all of the visual reference I have is just through the SiOnyx Aurora camera.

First off, it does come in a case, very similar to what you would see from Eotech. Which is nice if you intend on taking the device off for storage or anything like that. I don’t plan on doing it so for me it just becomes another case that I have a giant stack of it does come with a remote tape switch that isn’t the best of quality but if you’re working on a budget, it will work just fine for you. It also comes with the instruction manual a battery, the typical Torx wrench, and some other miscellaneous items.

First impression is the build quality seems really good on it. It seems like a very solid device. The overall form factor of it is kind of the only negative thing I have to say about it. This is one of the taller infrared devices on the market, but with it being taller, it’s also a lot narrower, which is nice for clearing lights, or any other attachments you may have on the sides .

The controls are very easy to use on this. It does have a nice textured fire button on top with a nice positive click. You can also double tap the fire button to have constant on. The selection switch is also pretty easy to use the windage and elevation adjustments are also nice and easy to use. They have a nice bridge around them to protect them and you can also easily mark your zero on those. The battery cap is surprisingly nice threads, and very easily, the spring, and all that is attached nicely. It does have a rubber tether to keep the cap attached. One of my favorite things about this device is the adjustment for the illuminator is on the rear of the device rather than the front like a lot of other ones are. I think overall that is just a way better solution. That way you’re not messing around at the muzzle end of the rifle and also you can adjust it a lot easier with her being on the back without having to move the rifles position a whole lot.

As for the tape switch that I am using, it is a unity hot button with a crane style plug. Initially when I first got it, I was not able to get the unity switch to plug into the device. After a quick search online, I found out that the terminals on the unity Are just a little bit taller than what the holosun receptacle is. Luckily, that is a extremely quick and easy fix. All you have to do is take a pair of pliers and very lightly squeeze the terminals on the unity switch and then test fit it and just do that until it works I barely had to do this, but once I did, the unity switch clicked right in.

Overall, the infrared illuminator could use a little bit more power. I think the laser itself is great that’s very easy to see but I just wish the illuminator had a little bit more throw to it. I did use the visible laser to zero the device on my rifle and it’s pretty easy to pick up at distance , but it’s hard to find it initially. That could be due to the fact that I got a red version which is about $60 cheaper than the green laser version but I only intended on using the visible laser just to zero the device since the visible laser in the infrared laser are co aligned.

Overall, I’ve been pretty happy with this device. I’m excited to get to use it under true night vision and I’m sure I’ll have a full length review on it once I get to do that. I do plan on picking up more of the products from holosun. Brownell‘s does carry pretty much all of them so if you are interested again, I’ll leave a link down below. You can go check that out other than that. I’ve been very happy with this device and hope that by the time a full review is done on it but I’m still happy with it.

This weeks product is going to be the Midwest industries, alpha series stock. I was fortunate enough to have one sent out from Midwest to try out and don’t let the name fool you of this alpha series being a AK product line. At least for the stock you can run it on any lower receiver that has a picatinny stock mount. That being said Midwest has released a whole line of AK series parts that are really cool, but this is going to be just about the stock itself.

The particular route that I ended up going with mine is putting it on my BRN 180. Previously I did have a Midwest industries extruded folding stock, so I am familiar with the folder and the way that it works already. These are shipped for a rifle used but they are compatible with the gearhead works tail hook for anyone that for some weird reason would be interested in doing a brace right now. 2/5/23 lol.

So far, I am extremely pleased with the amount of adjustability with this. You have the adjustable cheek piece the adjustable butt pad. The main beam of the stock is a five position locking beam with a super easy to use textured button. The folder like I said I’m very familiar with since I’ve been using one for a while. It is nice you have to get used to it and it is reversible for left-handed shooters. The stock does have 3QD sling point cups which is very nice in my opinion. The whole thing is a mix of different materials with steel, aluminum, and polymer. The overall way is just over a pound so it’s not too terrible which again I was already running a full metal stock prior to this one.

The overall feels really nice I don’t have a ton of time on it so far but having a folder is awesome. Having just tons of adjustment is great. I’ve never had to worry about any of my Midwest industries parts before, but if I do, they do have a lifetime warranty on them. I really like the adjustable cheek piece that to me makes the stock light years ahead of the old one that I was using.

All right, so this week my post is going to be on a couple of new products that are at least new to me that I have really been liking so far. That being the unity hot button for my IR device and the unity fusion hub that has the modlite Switch for sure fire style flashlights.

First, we can start off with the unity hot button. So I just recently picked up my IaR device and this switch from brownells. I will leave the link to it down below. Overall, I was looking for something small and compact that I could place at the very top and lock slots on my MK 16 rail. The overall quality of the unity products has been fantastic. I have had one slight hiccup which we will get to in the next section but the overall quality from unity themselves is great. I did recently picked us up so I don’t have a ton of time on the hot button but I didn’t get to take it out over this past weekend and really liked the positioning of it. It makes running the laser very easy and you don’t have to adjust your grip all that much from your normal hold. The plug is set up for a standard crane connection, but when paired with the holosun LS321 laser that I have they don’t play very well together. It’s not too big of an issue. The easiest thing to do is to just take a pair of pliers and very very lightly squeeze the connections on the unity plug and then, it should plug right in and click in and be all set. There’s just some tolerance issues between holosun and unity but it’s a very quick and easy fix.

Next up, let’s talk about the unity fusion system, which has the modlite switch built into it. First let’s start off with the only bad thing I have to say about it. Over the weekend I was out doing some shooting running around crawling around in the snow and when I got back up to my house, I was just looking everything over and I noticed when I touched the modlite switch, I could see a very small amount of electrical arcing coming from underneath the switch. I ended up sending out a couple emails to modlite themselves and to big Tex ordinance, which is where I got the unity system from since they had the exclusive anodized green version. Everything has been taken care of already big Tex was fantastic to work with they replied to me very quickly, and I will have a new one sent out next business day. Other than that the whole system has been fantastic. I’m not sure when the switch started doing that but I can tell you it definitely had something to do with the snow because as I’m sitting here typing this, the switch is not doing the arcing anymore. So just something to pay attention to.

The unity fusion system is really cool because they make multiple different attachments that work all on the system. You can also mount standard sure fire scout pattern lights directly to this switch or to the standard and fusion hub. The way I have mine set up is obviously the fusion hub and then the unity light wing Off to the right and that’s what I have my modlite OKW set up mounted too. Overall I really like the way that it fits. The reason I went with this set up is because I was worried about flashlight fitment with an IR device. I do plan on eventually picking up a Steiner dbal D2 which is definitely going to be a wider IR device so I think having this light wing is going to help me out a lot when that time comes. Overall, the entire system is really nice because you can have your entire light system taken off with just two screws on the switch/fusion hub. It’s also been a very solid set up. Over the past few months of having this every time I’ve been out shooting it has encountered multiple barricades tons of getting knocked around against trees and such while shooting from them. We’re all very happy with it. Definitely recommend these and all of the unity lineup for that matter. I am running the unity fast mounts for my eotechs and plan on in the near future picking up one of their Omni mounts for a G 43 magnifier.

All right guys so this week my post is going to be on the spirit us systems micro fight MK4 and all of the other components that go with it. I picked all of these items up at Brownell‘s a couple weeks ago and have already gotten to use it a fair bit since then, and haven’t really been liking it so far. I figured I would go through each part real quick since there’s only a couple and mention the things that I like about it so far.

So I guess let’s start out with the micro fight chassis itself. The very cool thing about this to me is that it’s a very modular system, which is something that I really look for in items especially items like this. Being able to swap it back-and-forth from your plate carrier to your chest rig set up or anything that uses Standard clips is a very good feature in my opinion. It has two very deep pockets that you can buy all sorts of different inserts for different magazines and multiple magazines etc. Overall this is the heart and soul of the post and I think they did a fantastic job with that. All the materials seem to be of great quality, so it should last a very long time under use.

Next up, I’m going to combine the fat strap and the backstrap since they basically go hand-in-hand. Another great thing about these and what I’m seeing being a trend with the spirituous systems. Products is materials are great. All the stitching looks really good. This is another couple products that I think we’re gonna last it very long time. Even the clips themselves don’t feel like super cheap plastic that’s going to break, the second you use them. It is getting cold where I live so in the next coming months, I will be able to test the durability in very cold environments. The comfort is fantastic with the straps you partly even notice that the thing is on you, which was kind of the whole point of getting this chest rig set up was to be small, compact and lightweight rather than just always using a plate carrier.

And last but not least are a couple more things that I’m going to combine because they are all technically inserts for the micro fight. So to listen them off real quick I got the triple 5.56 magazine insert, the double pistol magazine insert, and the half flap. Both of the magazine inserts have been rocksolid. They Velcro into the pouches on the chassis itself and called the magazines. Great. Pulling magazines is very easy as well but not too easy to where you might have issues. The half flap is a really cool option in my opinion, because essentially it creates a Pocket that you could store various items inside of. The adjustability on this is also very nice because you can mount it higher or lower to create a taller or shorter pocket depending on what you’re keeping in there. My plan to start with is picking up a box cutter gear zap pouch, and keeping that inside And then going from there.

Overall, I’ve been very pleased with the system, and slightly disappointed that it’s taken me this long to pick one of these up. Like I mentioned, in the beginning, I got all of this from brownells they carry a whole line of spirit of systems products, and I highly recommend swinging over there and checking them out. Already guys so like I said in the previous post, this is going to be the part two which will be the second time I took this out back to do some shooting with. I will have a full video review and I’ll probably post a full review on here as well. Once I have a couple thousand rounds through this find out what works and what doesn’t work and give my thoughts on it.

So what has changed since the last post, well, I placed an order with brownells and got a holosun 407K ordered for a great price might I add. I also picked up a couple different types of ammunition to run, which can be seen in one of these photos.

Overall, the optics cut fit the red dot sight fantastic which I was very pleased with not a bunch of slop or anything in the car. They do include mounting screws and tell you which one goes to which side in the instructions that come with a slide, which is also nice.

So for my second range trip with this I shot right around 500 rounds to bring my current total up to about 1100 rounds through the Glock 44 with the slide on it. My second trip with this wasn’t as good as my first. After adding the red dot site, which obviously adds extra weight on the slide I was having cycling issues. I will add that , the first 600 rounds I shot I didn’t clean the pistol at all after that so these next 4 to 500 rounds were shot on an extremely dirty pistol, which I did intentionally to see what would happen. I was having issues with mostly ejection. When I post my full review on this, I will have an entire list of ammunition with what work and what didn’t work and what I encountered with each, that way it can be used as a reference to anyone that is also doing this.

Overall, the product is super cool and I’m very happy with it, but it definitely isn’t going to be just a drop in system to be used with any type of ammunition. You’re going to have to find what works For your set up and then tinker with it from there I have thought about getting a adjustable guide rod to mess with the spring weights but I wanted to use the OEM Glock guide rod and guide spring to begin with because that’s what everyone’s going to have if they do this.

All right, so this is going to be a two-part post. First, let’s start off with the actual part itself. The Nelson precision Glock 44 slide is one of the things that every Glock 44 should’ve came with from the factory. The ability to mount a red dot optic on these I think is Pretty standard and should have been on there to begin with. The part itself is extremely nice. Machining is done very well. The anodizing has held up great so far. When you order the slide, you can get the suppressor height sights, and the back plate with it. So essentially all you do is drop in your side parts and you’re ready to go.

The first time I took it out I ended up putting 606 rounds through it. All of this is available on YouTube as well, which can be found through my links at the bottom of this. I ended up running a variety of ammunition through it , including some federal bulk pack and some armscor ammunition that I had a brick of. The first time I took it out. I also didn’t have the red dot in hand yet, so it was just the slide with the iron sides and the optics cut cover. overall, my first trip out with it was pretty successful, the federal ammunition was very hit or miss, but I think that’s just the nature of bulk ammunition. The armscor ran extremely good with only one or two malfunctions. The issue that I foresee running into is the inconsistencies of 22 long rifle ammunition. It doesn’t matter which brand it is there’s always a few rounds that you can feel are under powered as soon as you shoot them.

Overall, my first outing with the Nelson precision slide has been great. I do have a holosun 407k and a few more various types of ammunition on the way from brownells. That is going to be the part two when I have the red dye mounted in a few more types of ammunition to run. I really do think this is going to be a very good option for the Glock 44. I do think everyone is going to have to find what works for them. I do think that it is not going to run on bulk ammo, the way people want it to but I don’t think you’re gonna have to spend a fortune on high dollar ammunition either. I think it’s just a matter of finding what works with your set up and that’s what I’m gonna try to do for the part two of this.

All right, so for this weeks post, I figured I would just touch on some thing that I think people overthink way too much. And that is what mags are the best to use.

So, essentially, this is just going to be a list of pretty much what I think is the standard in rifle mags to use. I think the major part that people have issues with is buying strange cheap magazines and then wondering why they have issues with them.

So to start off with one of my favorite mags to use as of now it’s going to be the duramags. They come in tons of different colors and capacities, and duramag seems to be doing a lot of innovating with producing new magazines for existing platforms. Overall, you can expect to spend about $16-$18 apiece which is kind of expensive But worth it in my opinion.

Next up will be the OK industries magazines. If I’m not mistaken, I believe that Brownell’s magazines are OK industries along with the sure feed magazines. OK makes a great magazine and I’ve never had any issues with mine. Sadly, they did quit production at the end of 2022. Hopefully somebody buys up their tooling and keeps producing these magazines. Typically you can pick up these mags for around nine bucks on Brownell‘s website and again these are a fantastic option that I absolutely love all the ones I have.

Next up will be the D&H magazines. Which again they make a bunch of magazines for different companies. In particular, the ones that I’m looking at right now are Palmetto, State Armory, branded and Geissele Branded. Again a great magazine. You can normally pick these up for about nine bucks as well from Palmetto State. The Geissele ones do cost a few bucks more and you’re strictly paying for just the name at that point. Those ones come in at about $12-$13.

The obvious option that a lot of people are using and again it’s another great option is going to be the Magpul P mags. I’ve got a ton of them never had any issues really with them. My only gripe with them is getting them fully loaded. A lot of the times, I would leave one or two rounds out that way I never had any Magazine, seating issues. Overall, you’ve got a bunch of different options with these including just standard magazines or the windowed magazines. And you’re looking at about 1518 bucks depending on what you get. Another nice thing about the pmags is they make them in tons of different magazine capacities.

Last but not least it’s going to be the most expensive magazine in this list, which is going to be the Lancer systems magazines. These ones I have heard people have issues with leaving them loaded and having issues with the feed lips when you do that. I’ve got a couple of them. They’ve been loaded for a long time And I ran them just about a week ago and they worked fantastic. I think the thing with the Lancer magazines is they look cool, I think that’s kind of the whole thing that keeps them afloat which there’s nothing wrong with that but I do think for $24 you’re better off picking up, a handful of brownells or the D&H magazines.

Overall, I don’t really think it matters what you go for as long as you’re buying a good name, brand magazine, and you test them out to make sure that they function reliably consistently for you. Pick up a handful of which ever ones you want and try them out and all of your different weapon systems to make sure that they function properly. And like I said in the beginning I think a lot of people overthink this. You don’t have to spend a ton of money on special magazines to get good reliability, and durability out of them.
