the days were getting sunnier and she couldn’t avoid it, stella went to the beach to so she could just enjoy the weather while it last. she put a blanket on the sand and sat there, minding her business with her book. until she hears a male voice over. she looks up and rolled her eyes. “that’s your best pick up line?” she asked with a dry laugh coming out of her lips. “but i rather not, so thank you for the offer.” 

𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐥𝐞𝐭 𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐜𝐡𝐮𝐜𝐤𝐥𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫'𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, he kind of felt good of himself, since he really got her to speak to him. “i have better once, like do you believe in love from first sight? or should i pass again?” he teased and gave her a wink. adam punched his chest softly. “oh my ego, he’s dead.” he replied. “but c’mon. i’m good company.” he added smirking.

As the man spoke, Owen focused on his lips, making sure he was paying attention to what was being said. At his question, he gave a nod of his head before he pointed to his ear, shaking his head. His usual way of letting people know that he couldn’t hear them. Quickly he reached into his back pocket and pulled out his phone, fingers moving over the keyboard. Yeah- wasn’t for sure if bowling was something people liked to do anymore so I figured I’d just come by myself. He grinned as he held the phone out to the other man, letting him read what he had typed.

𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐠𝐮𝐲 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫, he quickly signed him that it’s okay. “i know some wait--” he said trying to show him by signing. ‘i used to volunteer in poland in school for the deaf. i know some’ he signed him as much as adam looks like a bad guy that doesn’t care, when he traveled around the world he did everything he could. ‘let’s compete. my friend are boring anyways.’ he signed him.

“I’m tellin’ ya, this kid beat my ass so hard at Mario Kart…it was insane. Clearly I need to step up my Nintendo Switch game if I’m going to beat him the next time I see him again.” Her current case that she and her ada partner were working involved the victim having a kid, and often times if they needed to talk to his mom the son came with. Surprisingly enough, her caseload was pretty light, and kids tended to be more comfortable talking with someone who understood them. Hence Del getting her ass whooped when she played a few rounds of Mario Kart on the son’s Switch as she talked with him. “Now if it’d been a Gameboy, I would’ve had a better chance.” She chuckled, shaking her head. Taking a sip from her beer, she gestured with the bottle to the person she’d been talking to at the bar. “How was your day? Hopefully more interesting than getting your butt kicked by an 8 year old.” Del smirked.

𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐚𝐫 𝐦𝐚𝐝𝐞 𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐚 𝐥𝐨𝐭, like stories about someone’s ex or how the person just cheated on his wife. adam was full of secrets, being a bartender makes the best person to gossip with. “well my day is fine, thanks for asking. i just came back from a passionate make out in the bathroom so who am i to complain. another one?” adam asked when he saw del’s beer starting to be empty.

With his work schedule, Owen often found himself doing the same things. Get off work, grab a coffee or if it was a late shift, grab a beer with a friend, and go back home. So when his day off finally rolled around, he wanted to get out and do something he hadn’t done in years. It took him a while to land on something but when the idea of bowling popped into his head, he couldn’t shake it. Which was how he found himself at a bowling alley, lacing up his shoes, a few snacks and drinks already on the nearby table. Sure, he could have asked someone to come with him but was bowling even a thing that people liked to do these days? That and it didn’t bother him going out and doing things on his own. After a few turns, he was quickly finding out that he wasn’t exactly good at bowling. Most of the balls went right into the gutter or he missed the pins all together. As he turned to walk back to the table, he caught eye of someone who had seemed to be watching him, and all Owen could do was let out a laugh, shaking his head at just how utterly bad he was turning out to be at this.

𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐟𝐮𝐧𝐧𝐲 𝐰𝐚𝐲, 𝐚𝐝𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐨𝐰𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐚 𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡, no particular reason but also for a good time and money. the winner wins 20$ from each player. it’s not much but was something. he sat down after his turn and looked over at the guy that didn’t have a clue how to throw a ball. “you’re all alone?” adam asked the other guy.

There weren’t many public pianos left in NYC, and Rowan could barely remember a time when they’d been more of a thing. He knew his mothers had gotten a kick out of it when he was younger, but those memories were fleeting and barely-there after years of newer, more important memories. Still when he stumbled across one in a subway station he hadn’t hesitated to sit down on the worn-down bench and place his fingers on the keys. Truth be told, he’d managed to get lost on the subway today, so he figured now was as good a time as any to fool around with a public piano. That certainly seemed less stressful than dwelling on the fact that he wasn’t entirely sure how to get home from here. 

It wasn’t the cleanest piano he’d ever seen but it was oddly well taken care of for how long it had likely been there. A few years of piano lessons had left Rowan with some ability, and a good memory meant he could play at least one song from heart (one of his favorites, Moonlight Sonata, which thankfully wasn’t the most difficult piece his teacher had ever tried to force on him). It was easy to get lost in the sound, the way it echoed in the station, even the way it seemed to disappear and reappear as the subway came and went. When he’d finished playing, Rowan was startled to hear scattered applause from two or three individuals who had stopped to listen, and he turned on the bench with heated cheeks, smiling bashfully. “O-oh, thank you,” he said softly, face turning to look at the closest person to him. “Uh, I don’t suppose you know the best way to get to [enter some street names here, I don’t know!], do you? I’m afraid I’m a bit lost.”
