MONZA RACE DAY

Lewis Hamilton on pole, Lando Norris right behind him, and both the Mercedes following right behind. You qualified eighth, behind Max, Oscar, and Charles in that order.

Even on the formation lap you felt shaky, like something was off.

Lights out, and your car was barely making headway through the traffic, and in fact, it lost position. You dropped to tenth with barely seven seconds passing.

You got passed by a racing bull and an Alpine car. Not your best work, and honestly a terrible testament to the amazing car you were driving.

You never stopped feeling that uneasy, eerie feeling. The one where your skin crawled and shivers ran up your back under your fireproofs.

“You alright mate? You’re losing time, but the car is stable,” James came over your radio, interrupting your thought process for just a moment.

“I’m fine,” you paused, getting through the shortest chicane before finishing your answer. “Just trying to close the gap.”

“Copy.”

Head down, keep driving. Don’t let a stupid feeling weigh you down. You don’t have any reason to be weighed down, do you? There’s nothing to worry ab-
