Kinda Cool. Mostly Sad.

Yikes! Get a diary why don’t you? 

Much like the walls of his hideout had become the ramblings of a man slowly descending into chaos, the surface of the paper isn’t much better. It’s quite a lot to take in--reminders of the fact that he isn’t Jack. Caricatures of the man who had been his boss; drawn and swiftly crossed out. Of his former Vault Hunting Team. Questions posed to who? Himself? Jack? He doesn’t know.  Ink stains from where a pen sits too long; eating into the surface and past it. Leaving holes.  Intrusive thoughts bled onto paper. 

It’s a cute cheesy cat poster featuring a picture of a black kitten hanging onto a branch in front of some random Elpis scenery. The phrase ‘Hang in There!’ has been added on top of the original print with a variety of font stickers. 

Alright, so maybe he’d gone back to Janey’s printer and maybe he’d printed another copy of that cat poster that had been slapped up for Deadlift’s crew.

Maybe.

It’s an ECHOlog; nothing too special about that! Virtually worthless. (Just maybe, don’t tell Jack that he still has it? Please?)  Frankly, Timothy isn’t even sure if he was meant to hold onto it; but it was one of those things that he just couldn’t let go?  Like doing so meant losing a piece of himself--before becoming Jack at least.

Playing it reveals a conversation between Dr. Autohn and Timothy Lawrence, prior to all the surgery undergone for the Doppelganger contract. The squeak of his own voice still grates his ears; the way it cracks and stumbles over certain words. Wanting to know if the whole thing was a scam to take his kidneys. 

Rifling through the bag of Jack--the real one, obviously--and totally not Jimothy grants you access to a plethora of Vault Hunting Items (tm). Take a gander and try not to let yourself start drooling there, Pumpkin.

It’s rather pitiful, honestly, the display of items that can be found in one Timothy Lawrence’s possession after booting it from the very casino that had held him captive for the greater part of the past--seven years? Seven years. 

Yikes.

Rifling through the belongings that certainly don’t belong to you, you will find the following.

-One (1) Handsome Jack Notepad; Poor Condition

-One (1) Digi-struct Watch; Cracked. 

- Several (???) Loose pieces of paper covered in ink and scribbles. 

-One (1) Spare Shirt; Hyperion Yellow. 

-One (1) Tub of Hair Putty; Half Used. 

-One (1) Torn Inspiration Poster; Hang in There! 

-Roll of gauze and bandages; Health Hypos! 

-One (1) Fancy Smancy Shield Kit; Big Spender Over Here Folks! 

-Several (???) ECHOlogs 

“Dark arts hu?” She laughs, was that a twinge of nervousness in her voice? No, of course not. Everything was normal. “No no, nothing like that. I’m not going around trying to raise the dead or anything. It was just a silly comment is all.” Fiddling with the bandages that now covered one of her arms she gave him a reassuring smile. She trusted Tim. A lot. But… on Pandora it couldn’t hurt to be cautious. He kept his secrets from her after all.

“I guess cowboys do have a reputation of being hard to kill, kind of figures that the aesthetic would hang around for this long I suppose.”

She gave a shrug at his question, taking a seat on the bed that was across from the couch, propping her elbow on her knee and her chin on her hand.

“I’ve been alright I guess. Just doing the whole clinic business, removing bullets, amputating limbs, sauntering wounds, and all that.” She waved her hand in an offhand manner, day in and day out, same thing. Aside from the surprise of waking up with siren abilities not much had changed.

“Kind of waiting for something exciting to happen around here. Gets a bit boring when everyone’s just in and out once you patch them up.” Lonely as well, how has she still not made any friends? Must have been her winning personality. 

“You planning on sticking around a while? Or are you hitting the road soon?”

A twinge of nervousness indeed; though it certainly didn’t feel like Timothy’s place to be sticking his nose into. Secrets were...secrets for a reason--and he’d offer Cass just as much respect with her own as she did for him.

“Oh absolutely. Toughest bastards out there.” 

He listened as she spoke of the daily happenings of the clinic, speaking of amputations just as casually as one might speak of the weather. It may as well have been, considering the state of things on Pandora. 

Of course she wouldn’t pry, no matter how weak the excuse. Just like he kept his face a secret, he kept a lot of things about himself private. She wouldn’t risk upsetting him or ruining the friendship just because she was curious. Even though she was very curious.

Upstairs things haven’t changed much since his last visit, a bed and a couch take up most of the space, a few shelves on the walls with unusual things she’d scavenged up. Off to the side is a small kitchen and the door to the bathroom. Things may have been a little messier than last time, Cass moving to kick some clothes under the bed and out of the way, but it’s homey. 

“Ah, the necromancy… I wouldn’t worry about it too much, i’m not that good of a doctor.” The real question was, was she that good of a siren? That’s what she had really been asking. 

Reaching with her bandaged up arm she tossed some papers that were cluttering up the couch off to the side and took a seat, patting the area next to her for Tim.

“Cowboys hu? That sounds like an interesting adventure. I wasn’t aware cowboys were really a thing anymore, guess I shouldn’t be surprised.”

“I don’t know if it’s an arguement against being a good doctor or uh. Something else actually? Dark arts. You dapplin’ in that, Cass?” He offered in answer, expression tipping in a thoughtful direction beneath his mask before he shrugged and took the offered seat on the couch. 

Oof. Good ol’ comfy couch. 

Leaning back, the doppelganger let out a quiet sigh before stretching his arms across the back. “Yeah--I mean. There’s tons of clusters around Pandora, honestly. I mean--I doubt you ever ran into her but, there was that Sheriff of Lynchwood? I don’t really think cowboys ever die out. It just takes a town to revive the aesthetic.” 

Granted, he’d never taken it upon himself to visit Lynchwood; not when there was a chance of his former teammate recognizing him.
