Pimples, LEAVE (It's been awhile...)
Hi loyal followers. I am so embarrassed by the fact that I haven't posted anything in months. I was so happy to see I had a few messages from people with questions, it was/is inspiring to see. I want that, I want you to ask me questions and if I don't know the answer, I will find out for you because I'll probably want to know the answer as well. So let me tell you about the last few months:
I've had huge ups and downs with my skin. It seems that when I am at my happiest and most positive, my skin flourishes. This is usually when I am involved with someone, oddly enough (or not). I had started seeing someone with beautiful eyes and a beautiful soul and my skin was on it's way to recovery because I was with someone who didn't seem to notice or care. It's a freeing feeling! But it was short lived and he dumped me and of course my skin was a disaster. Then I visited Vancouver and my skin looked amazing, when I got back, all my friends were floored. But just like all the time, the pimples returned and my insecurities flooded back. This cycle continued for so long, it still continues. So here are some new things I tried in the last 7-8 months. I was working at Nutrition House and therefore had access to a wealth of information...not that I wouldn't have it hadn't worked there, it was just so readily available. I learned a lot, I started taking 6 chlorella tabs a day and also estrosense and my skin was improving. I was doing that everyday for about 4 months, but somehow fell out of the routine and just gave up. I am slowly reintroducing those supplements back into my life. But what really made a substantial difference was the OCM (oil cleansing method). "OIL???!! BUT LAUREN, MY FACE IS OILY, THAT'S WHAT I DON'T WANT!!!" Yes, it IS what you want actually. Our face has pores full of sebum, the gross stuff that makes the puss. Sebum is an oil and when our face is stripped of the oil, our pores over compensate and start to over produce oil, causing a breakout. I have stopped using any other cleansers that will leave my face dry. All I've been using for the passed 4 months is a mixture of castor oil and olive oil. It's been doing wonders. I feel this is very long post to come back to.
I am going to leave it there and continue this tomorrow or something. If you want to know more, please shoot me a message! I love to hear from people and I love helping.
Oh what's your twitter? :)

oh my god. A safe sanctuary to talk about my biggest insecurity. Thank you
I just say this! Tell me all your woes. This is something I am STILL struggling with and I feel bad, I've neglected this tumblr page for so long.
ok... i'm 17 and i've had acne since i was 12. i have it on my face, back, and my chest. thankfully its not as severe as it used to be. its mostly scars and a bad breakout once or twice a month. currently: chest- bumpy, few white heads. face- mostly black/white heads and a few red pimples on jawline/cheeks/chin. back- black/white heads and little red pimples. i've used a variety of medications (pills, washes, and creams/foams) and it still won't go away. surgery's a last resort. any advice? thx
Surgery! No! Don't do that...what procedure is that? I haven't ever heard of a surgery for acne. So I'm nearing my 22nd birthday and I still get major breakouts. A few months ago I worked at Nutrition House, which is a supplement store. I started taking a pill called Chlorella, which is a nutrient from the sea, it's a whole food and also a blood purifier. Neem works as well. Then I started on Estrosense, which is a pretty expensive supplement, but it works to cleanse the liver and kidneys and stabilizes hormones. This is going to be a long message, I have a lot to say on the subject! My skin still flares up, but I know a lot of it is diet and happiness. Your mind is so attached to your skin. Also just eating well. But I have completely cut any product for skin out of my regimen. I only use castor oil and olive oil as a cleanser *http://www.theoilcleansingmethod.com/*

Continuation-(sorry i'm wordy) For a moisturizer I use coloidal oatmeal lotion, a few drops of jojoba oil, and either lavender or tea-tree oil. I spot treat with vitamin E oil. I steam my face with salt water and/or ACV w/ tea tree oil. I use benzonite clay twice a week, again mixing it with ACV or tea tree. For an alternative toner, try soaking a green-tea teabag in a small bit of warm water, then rubbing the bag directly over your face. Hope this will help, even just a litte :)
Wow, that is quite the regime. Thank you! I'll keep those things in mind. Hope it works for you.
Recently, I got a message from an old friend I hadn't heard from in a good year. She said she had seem this blog about my skin and found a very informative skin website. Usually (I have found), you go to these kinda sites and they have all these secrets to clear skin, but you have to buy whatever the information is, which is bull. This one is free. It's an e-booklet you can download with 7 very helpful tips. I have been trying to implement them into my life, but it's been tough because I just started a stressful/greasy job that I happen to eat hamburgers quite frequently at. So my skin could be looking a looking a lot better right now, but I am being neglectful because this will all change in a few weeks when I move back to Ontario. Once I get back to Peterborough, my plan is to hunker down and have a green smoothie a day. It will a) help immensely with my skin and b) with my forever troubled bowels.
Anyway, this site is great. It's free, unless you want to comprehensive booklet...which just goes into great detail, detail that I'm sure you can figure out for yourself.
Tea tree oil with your normal moisturiser. Only a little bit at first to test how sensitive your skin is because it can burn etc. Worked wonders for me using all over my face.
Hey! Everytime I see you post something I think to update you on my skin situation haha. I got blood tests done and it turns out I'm definitely allergic to dairy products and gluten! So now I know for sure to cut those out. As a test, I ate them for a week straight after being "clean" for a month and ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE right on my face haha, cystic and terrible. So that's just a suggestion, if you can check out an allergist or something :) might help!
Ohhh hey, that's a great idea...apart from the fact I'll jump infront of a car before I'd get blood tested ;) Nahhh, joking, it'd be worth it to possibly find out what the problem is. I need to really focus on my diet, I'm bad when it comes to that :S
Apple Facial Mask
Application of apple pulp on the face cures and improves acne.
Ingredients:
1 cored apple cut into quarters
2 tablespoons of honey
½ teaspoon of sage
Procedure:
Chop up the apple quarters in a food processor. Add the honey and sage and then refrigerate for about 10 minutes. Lightly pat the mixture onto the face until the honey feels tacky. Leave it on the skin for 30 minutes and then rinse the face mask off with cool water.

Hey, i was wondering if you have ever tried using apple cider vinegar on your skin? I started to use it and it has helped a lot :)
I have, I was also drinking a spoonful everyday...I think I should start again! Thanks for reminding me.
Gee thanks Proactive.
I have sooooo many problems with this. What a fucking stupid tactic! What does this say to people like us that don't have the highest of esteem because of our acne? Give these criminals your 100s of dollars and you MAY get a boyfriend, but I highly doubt you'll feel that much better about yourself. Plus I am kidding. You need to find it in yourself to love and feel good about yourself. No amount of guy love can make you love yourself. I've struggled with this. Primarily because I haven't had the best luck with guys and I've blamed it on my acne. But by doing this I start a vicious cycle in myself with feeling about about my face and then the love for myself stops and therefore no one will love me. You can't love someone else if you don't love yourself. Or, let me re-word that, you can love someone else when you don't love yourself...but what's the fucking point? Why would you not want to love yourself first and provide the best love you can possibly provide for another human being. My blog is about more than acne, it's about finding your identity while dealing with the acne. I think I'm finally in an okay place. Not a perfect place, but that's ok, perfection is somewhat impossible I think...plus...what is perfection? (Topic for another time)
I just saw this and was fucking disgusted. I wouldn't be surprised if a man designed this ad. They seem to have their hands in the degrading pot. Yeah, like guys don't have acne.
What do you think about this ad? Would you feel compelled to buy a product after being told you'll be 100xs better by using it?
my skin is looking so so
I love your blog. I am 18 and I hate walking around campus with my skin the way it is. I do not like feeling restricted to certain types of clothing because of severe acne on my chest and back. I really just wanted to thank you because I am on the verge of tears right now because I try everything to get my skin clear and nothing is working. it doesn't help that I have to wear a dress next weekend because I am attending an event and I can't even find a cocktail dress to cover anything :c
Thank you for the love! I feel your pain. I remember all through high school I was one of the only females with terrible terrible acne. It's a tough thing to live with, but I guess you can try looking at it as a test! A test of character and self confidence. I'll be honest, I'm sure half the people you interact with on a daily basis don't even see your acne, I know the people I know and see don't see it anymore. I feel weird about wearing revealing clothes, but I've learned to deal with it and do the best I can to help my body. The worst thing you can do is stress about it, stress causes acne. It's a vicious circle! I'd say just pick a dress you love, regardless of coverage, make as revealing as possible and fucking own that acne. It's yours, might as well try and love it. If that doesn't work for you, take a back up dress :)
Cigarettes are the Cure
I've been doing all thisgood shit for my face.
Walking
Riding my bike
Eating well (fruits, veggies etc)
washing my face twice a day
What if I went to the doctors tomorrow and they told me that all the goodthings I was doing for my body/face were actually just making it worse? What if they told me that I should starting drinking and doing drugs and eating McDicks everyday to help me skin! These scenarios run through my head because sometimes the thoughts of clear skin leave me in a hopeless state. All that being said, it's looking better day by day. But that's not good enough. I wish I would wake up some morning and my face would look like porcelain.

I'm A Terrible Acne-faced Human Being
Yo Guyz,
I am sorry. I do this quite often don't I? Not write for like...8yrs and then apologize and be a dick about it! I just didn't know what to write, I guess. My face...that's the thing eh? It's been looking good! I've been using The Body Shop products and it's been working pretty well. I really only heavy break-out around my period, which is normal normal. My diet has been fairly good, I've improved it considerably, although there may or may not have been kit-kat bars sitting around my house and I had to...because...they're kit-kats! A weakness of mine. But it is kind of interesting to see what happens after you've been eating well for so long and breaking down and how your face/skin reacts to the processed sugar. Not well. Yet, does that stop me? No. Kinda dumb. I've been attempting to drink a lot of water...actually, brb...I literally just stopped to get water. No lie. There was one week a few weeks ago where I was physically active everyday, it was the best I'd felt about myself in a long time. But being broke and living in BC isn't the best combo because it rains for weeks at a time and if you want to be active, you go to a gym. Although I am a big fan of dancing and a few nights in a row I whipped my iPod out and rocked in my room, and I mean rocked out. I was a sweaty mess at the end of my workout, and it was great. My skin looked great as well. I have a motto...kind of, I mean I whip it out of my hat from time to time. That is that I try to sweat once a day. Not just by cracking the heat in my room, that's cheating y'all. I mean actually physically exerting yourself! I'm one to talk, I hardly have done anything like that lately. Although I'd say I more than made up for it yesterday after a good 15km hike around Vancouver. So what I'm saying is that it's to sweat, it's good for your pores. It gets the gunk out of them, just be sure to shower shortly after. I plan on getting better are my acne blog once again because I was getting such good response and it was awesome! Tell your friends about me! Spread the word young grass-hoppers!
What is a pimple? A pimple is the manifestation of acne vulgaris, though it may sound serious, it is simply the medical term for pimples (common acne). Almost everyone, sooner or later, experiences common acne. While it most typically affects teenagers, they are far from the only sufferers. It is actually quite common in adults as well, and sometimes it even occurs in young children.
