Something that I completely forgot to consider when always wearing my noise cancelling headphones, typically with music playing, to block out any potential sneezes from family, was the fact that I may not hear things I need to hear. Unfortunately, there's no way around that.
As a teenager, I was constantly on at my family about knocking before they came into my room (ideally waiting for a "come in!", but they never did - they just came in) because they never did and it drove me insane. Why would anyone not knock before entering someone's room?
I have no idea if they do now because I ALWAYS have my headphones on. If I am not in the shower or actively going to sleep. they are ON. I get so anxious when theyre off for even a couple seconds when they absolutely need to be, I don't even take them off to get dressed.
Just now, as I was getting dressed, my sister opened my door and saw me completely naked. I don't like that. I don't know if she knocked or not, I didn't hear because my headphones were on.
The reason I'm saying this here is because that happened as a result of having a sneeze fetish since because I have a sneeze fetish, I am so worried I will hear sneezes from my family that I keep my headphones on even when I am getting dressed and, as a result, a family member came into my room whilst I was naked and it has made me feel uncomfortable. I don't know what the solution is, though.
I had a lock on my door at uni, I don't here. I've always hated that about here. There are so many things I hate about here and not having a lock on my bedroom door is something that has annoyed me for so long. Now that I'm working, I have my sights set on moving within the next half a year, so, I'm holding onto the fact that I will live in my own place with my own room that people won't just barge into whenever they feel like it soon enough.
I guess, without realising it, I've decided that the risk of a family member coming into my room at a moment I really wouldn't want to is a risk I have been taking since I came back. I think, if given the choice, I would rather that happen again over potentially hearing a family member sneeze, like, I don't think I will take my headphones off whilst getting changed going forward because it's more uncomfortable for me to hear a family member sneeze than it is to experience what I did earlier. I wish my family's sneezes didnt bother me this much, cos typing that felt silly.
There is no solution, really. I don't know how likely it is to happen again, since there is so much time in the day and I spend just a fraction of that time getting dressed and being in a position where if someone in my household were to open my door they'd see that.
