Lex gets more than he bargained for when Slade asks him to teach him chess.
“You really want me to teach you?” Lex pauses as he crosses his arms over his chest, his head tilted to the side just a little as he looks up at Slade who promptly nods. Lex reaches up a hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, a headache already threatening to overtake him as he thinks about what Slade just told him. His eyes closed tightly as he tries to think of a way to talk himself out of this.
“Come on, Lexi. It’s just chess! How hard can it be?” Slade muses, the brand new unopened board tucked securely under his arm as he watches Lex expectantly.
Lex scoffs, shaking his head at the near jeer as he looks back up at Slade, an eyebrow cocked upwards as he readies himself to tear into his boyfriend. In his ire and annoyance, Lex missed the quick smirk Slade flashed before it was hidden away.
“Slade. Chess takes years to master. You need to learn how each piece moves, you need to learn opening strategies, endgame moves, you’ll take forever studying principles and it takes time to train your vision.” Lex starts, prattling on as he counts on his fingers before he shakes his head again, deciding it's for the best that he doesn’t teach Slade.
Just as Lex goes to start counting on his other hand, his list is cut short as Slade lets out a long exaggerated groan to catch Lex’s attention, one that ends up making the shorter man jolt in surprise before he looks up at Slade bewildered.
“Fucking booorrriiiing!” Slade shuffles, taking the new chessboard from under his arm and into his hands so he can hold it up Lex demandingly. “Just teach me how pieces move and like some easy strategy! I just wanna be able to play recreationally, I’m not looking to be a grandmaster or anything.”
Slade practically shoves the board into Lex’s hands as Slade walks past Lex, shoulder checking Lex lightly as he does so as he heads into Lex’s office. Not the one at LexCorp, the one in their shared penthouse apartment. Well, it’s not really shared. Lex owns it and Slade is allowed to live there rent free since he’s acting as his fulltime bodyguard. Slade strolls in, lazily looking around as he takes in his new surroundings. Besides his initial sweep of the apartment when he first moved in this is the first time he’s been in Lex’s office.
Lex’s shoulders drop as he turns to look back at Slade’s now retreating frame, his nose scrunching in disapproval as he watches Slade paw and probe at various items on his desk and the shelves that line the walls. The pair have been more than…friendly…recently, and over the last few weeks it's become increasingly common for the men to wake up in the other’s room, but Lex’s office had been his refuge until now. The one place in the apartment he still has his little slice of privacy but that space has now been invaded by none other than the current object of his infatuation…So it’s safe to say he’s a bit conflicted in how he feels right now.
Lex lets a quick puff of from his lips, his cheeks deflating as he pouts before he speaks. “Fine…I’ll teach you but I’m not in the mood to play too many games.” His eye twitches in anger when Slade turns around with a rather cheeky smile plastered on his face.
“Sweet!” Slade plops down happily at Lex’s desk, sitting in the plush desk chair and spinning gently in it before he stops his rotation and looks up at Lex enthusiastically. “Get to it, Deep Blue. Teach me!”
“I’m going to regret this…” Lex walks over, stripping the plastic from the box as he looks down to examine the chess set Slade picked up with the hope of Lex teaching him to play.
Lex had only intended to spend an hour, maybe two, teaching Slade but as late afternoon turned to dusk then to nightfall, Lex found himself still stuck in his office. Hours have since gone by, Slade having caught on rather quickly to piece movement but still struggling to plan out his moves.
“Why do you keep taking all my pieces?!” Slade slams his balled fist on the table, his back hunched as he leans forward to examine the board closely. Lex snickering, biting back the taunt he so desperately wants to share, as he watches Slade in amusement.
“You keep leaving them hanging. It’s not my fault that you set it up for easy scoping.” Lex gently reminds as he moves his bishop to take an unguarded rook.
“YOU FUCKER!”
The night goes on with Lex easily beating Slade every time before they reset the board to go again. It isn’t long before Lex decides to call it for the night, lifting his arms over his head as he stretches his back, standing tiredly as a desperate yawn leaves him.
Lex rubs his eyes, letting another yawn slip out before he looks down at Slade who’s looking up at him disappointedly.
“You’re already turning in?! I was just starting to get it!” Slade fiddles with a pawn between his fingers as he scolds Lex, under the impression that Lex is doing this on purpose to stifle his growth. “You’re just getting scared cause I’m improving so quick! You’re scared that I’m gonna beat you!’
With his lips now in a tight line, Lex gives another small shake of his head as he waves his hand at Slade as he makes his way towards the door. “Slade, I’m too tired to keep playing…I worked all day and I want to take a shower and turn in for the night.”
“But what about you teaching me!?” Slade stands up, setting up the pieces again before Lex gives another faint dismissal.
“We can play more tomorrow, Slade. I’m done for the night.”
And with that Lex heads to his room, eager to retire for the night as exhaustion washes over him. Slade on the other hand is still in Lex’s office, the pieces on the chessboard now in their proper starting places waiting for the next game to commence. Though that won’t be till atleast the morning.
It’s Saturday and for once Lex doesn’t immediately book it back to the office to get more work done. He chose instead to take a proper weekend, one that entails him simply relaxing at home and recharging from the hectic week that he just worked through. Not something he’s ever actually done before and — given how the day is going to end up— he doubts he’ll do again. It starts fairly normal, a little bit of coffee and a light breakfast, Slade coming out of his room not too long after Lex made an appearance. Slade claims the tv in the living room for the better half of the day, Lex sitting close to him on the couch as he types away at his laptop.
“I thought you said no work this weekend?” Slade starts, peaking over to steal a glance at Lex’s screen while his game loads.
“It’s not work…Not really, I am. It’s just a personal little project. It’s nothing proper.”
A distrusting hum is the only thing Lex gets in return as Slade goes back to his game, choosing to let the lie linger in the air and go unacknowledged.
It’s not until shadows are long and the sun begins to set that Slade proposes another game of chess.
“You really want to play again already? Slade, we played half a dozen games last night…” Lex doesn’t face Slade and doesn’t actually say no as he slowly closes his laptop.
“I know but I was having fun. I wanna play again.” The white haired male smirks down at Lex, nudging the smaller male with his elbow gently trying to force more engagement.
“Fine, fine. I’ll go get the board.” Lex relents as he stands, laying his closed laptop on the coffee table as he fetches the chessboard from his office. “You know, you didn’t actually need to buy a new board. I have an old one that I played with back home. It’s still got all the pieces so you jumped the gun a little there, Slade.”
Slade turns off the gaming console and throws the controller off to the side, sitting up properly on the couch as he waits for Lex, waiting for Lex to reappear before he responds.
“Ehh, doesn’t bother me much, Lexi. This can just be our board then.” With a shrug of his shoulders, Slade gives another gentle smirk
Lex raises an eyebrow, mildly unnerved by Slade’s more passive and playful attitude today.
“What…What is this? Why are you so…” Lex trails off, struggling to find the right way to describe Slade’s current mood as he gestures his hand in his bodyguard’s general direction, hoping that gets his point across. “...this, right now? It’s weird.”
“Pffft. You’re paranoid, Lexi. I’m just excited to play another game with you! Is that so bad? Is it so hard to believe that I like spending time with you?” Slade’s feigns hurt, his bottom lip jutting out dramatically as he looks at Lex like a kicked puppy.
“Yes. Yes it is.” Lex sets the board between the two of them, crossing his arms leerily as he watches Slade happily reset the pieces.
“HA! At least you’re honest, Luthor. At least you’re honest.”
They play a few games. Lex winning each round, though the ease of those wins wane with each passing play. The final game they play before they break for the night ends in an unexpected way.
“Is that checkmate?!” Slade asks excitedly as he moves his rook into place, Lex’s king trapped between the rook, the queen, two of his own pieces.
Lex’s eyes widen as his brow furrows in concentration, his eyes scanning the board quickly before he realizes that yes, yes it is in fact checkmate.
“Good game, Slade…That-That was a solid play…” Lex has to force that out between grit teeth and a hurt ego. He’s been playing for years and to so quickly be beaten by the guy he just taught to play the night before, it stings a little—he won’t deny that.
“Fuck yeah! YES!” Slade lifts his arms triumphantly, his eye glinting with pride as he laughs happily.
Lex has to bury any displeasure. He needs to be a good sport about this. It’s only one game…It’s not like Slade is going to let one win go to his he-
“YOU FUCKING SUCK, LUTHOR!”
“SLADE!” Lex snaps, his eye twitching in aggravation and his cheeks reddening in response as he watches Slade who merrily taunts him.
“I thought it’d take at least a few more games for me to kick your ass.” Slade mocks, his hands on his hips while a shit eating grin is plastered on his face.
The absolute nerve of his man! He wins one game and suddenly he thinks he’s the best thing since sliced bread…
“You got lucky, Slade! I was going easy on you to begin with!” Lex points his finger at Slade, glaring while the white haired male rolls his singular eye, Slade’s body language dripping with sass while the ire radiating off of Lex is thick in the air.
“Oh really? You think I just got lucky?” Slade muses, bending down to look Lex in the eyes directly.
“I know you did.” Lex’s grey eyes focused and clear as he stares down Slade, determined to put this man in his place.
“Prove it.” A challenge.
“Fine. Set the board. You get opening move.” Lex sits down with his arms crossed, waiting for Slade though he doesn’t move yet. Lex looks up at Slade expectantly but he’s got another idea.
“Let’s up the stakes, Luthor.” Slade teases, his voice loose and playful as he watches Lex, trying to gauge the man’s reaction.
“What stakes?” Lex is curious but highly suspicious nonetheless.
“Let’s make this more interesting…How about for every piece one of us takes, the other has to take off an article of clothing.”
…
“What?”
“You heard me. Strip chess. Each piece taken is a piece of clothing the other has to take off.”
“That’s ridiculous, Slade. There’s way too many pieces. We’d end up naked too quickly.”
Slade puts a finger and thumb to his chin like he’s lost in thought before he snaps his fingers, pretending like he’s just been struck with an amazing idea though Lex suspects he’d already thought it up before.
“Fine, the first 5 pieces are free. No clothing removal necessary. But after that? Every piece taken gets a piece removed. Sound good?” Slade extends a hand towards Lex, a knowing grin barely hidden as Slade awaits an answer
Lex pauses, trying to find whatever angle Slade might be playing at but unable to find anything rational besides Slade’s ego getting too big for his own good. Finally, Lex relents. Reaching out, Lex confidently wraps his hand around Slade’s and gives it a firm shake.
He just taught Slade how to play last night. There’s no way he’s going to lose twice in a row, not if he’s actually trying the second time.
Right?
…
Right?
…
Wrong…
This game is different. Slade comes out far more aggressive than before. He’s not playing like he did before, not even close. This isn’t a beginner that got lucky or is a quick learner, no this is a person who’s been playing for years and is confident in his play style.
“Slade…” It’s barely more than a whisper as Lex watches Slade takes the 11th piece from his side. “You fucking played me…”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Lex…I thought you said I was just lucky.” Slade snickers, holding up the bishop he just won from Lex’s side, waving the small black piece in Lex’s face smugly before he demands that Lex continue to hold up his end of the deal. “Come on, Lexi. I took a piece. That you means you gotta take something off~” The singsongy voice irks Lex to no end, the tips of his ears dark in embarrassment as he glares at Slade.
That’s Lex’s eleventh piece taken. The first five were free but he only had on a pair of socks, a thin cardigan, a shirt, a pair of pants on… And he’s already given up all those. That means with his 6th piece owed he’ll have to give up the boxers that are his only thing left. The only thing that keeps him from being completely nude.
Meanwhile, Slade waits for boxers to be relinquished in defeat, Slade himself only having lost 9 pieces so far so he’s just down the socks, his shirt, and his eyepatch—Lex was reluctant to let that count but allowed it against his better judgement.
Trying to buy himself time, Lex turns his focus forward to glare at Slade again before he speaks.
“You absolutely played me…didn’t you?”
The wicked grin and a cruel cackle are all the confirmation Lex needs.
“You mother fucker! I knew you learned the piece movements too quickly!” Lex slams his hand on the table, cheeks bright pink when he catches Slade leaning to the side to get a better look at Lex’s near naked body from across the table. “KNOCK IT OFF!”
“You’re stalling, Luthor~ Aren’t you gonna honor our deal?” Slade reaches over and pokes Lex’s nose roughly, snickering when Lex pulls away trying to deny Slade any affection or touch right now.
“Fuck no I am not! You lied to me! I’m not honoring shit, Slade!”
“You’re already mostly naked. Come on, just rip off the boxers and that’ll be the end of it! Then I can beat you normally.”
Slade swears he can see a vein on Lex’s forehead appear and pulse in annoyance, the low growl coming from Lex’s throat only encourages Slade’s taunts more though he won’t get the chance to egg Lex on any further.
Lex stands up, hands dipping into the waistband of his boxers before he tugs them down, throwing them at Slade’s face before he quickly sits back down, his hands folded in his lap as he stares at the board to calculate his next move.
Shocked by the sudden boldness, Slade practically giggles as he pulls Lex’s light boxers off of his head and turns his attention back towards the game.
“I’ve got no intention of letting you win, Slade.” Lex declares as he slides his pawn forward, Slade quickly takes the piece with his own only to have the pawn taken immediately by Lex’s knight.
“There! Now get your fucking pants off, Wilson!” Lex slams the taken piece onto the side of the table and points at Slade dramatically. This is the first time that one of them has requested which apparel item to be taken off, but it’s not like Slade has much in the way of choice. He’s down to either his pants or his underwear and typically you’d offer up your pants first.
“As you wish.” Slade stands up, kicking off the loose fitting sweatpants only to reveal that he’s actually going commando today.
Lex quickly tosses his head to the side, trying to avoid looking directly at Slade’s already hardening cock.
“Why do you look so shy right now? It’s not like you and my dick here aren’t very well acquainted. ” Slade tries to provoke Lex but the saucy tease falls on deaf ears. Lex quickly just points downwards, urging Slade to sit back down so they can continue their match. Slade follows the order, rolling his eye as he does so, before he goes back to playing.
Now that both men are fully nude, the stakes of the game are suddenly back down to near zero. They’re simply playing for bragging rights now. Truth be told, even if he loses right now Slade still thinks of himself as the winner. Seeing as how he very easily played Lex up until this point.
Lex on the other hand is actually playing to win.
He can’t allow himself to lose twice in a row after Slade played him like a damn fiddle for over a full day. Not by a longshot. Not over his naked body.
That being said…
“Fuck you, Slade! You fucking cheated!”
“How’d I cheat?”
“You distracted me!”
“It’s not my fault you didn’t focus more.”
“You started masturbating in the middle of the game!!”

Lex and Slade try to have a moment after the panel but an interrupted private conversation results in a punch, a panic attack, and a planned date.
Chapter 6: Set a Time and Place
Most of the panel goes off without a hitch with Lex watching from the sidelines, a newfound sense of pride swelling in him when he sees Slade manage to playfully dodge and weasel his way out of answering why he’s currently repping LexCorp merch. Clearly Slade doesn’t know where they land on this whole spontaneous sponsor deal and he doesn’t want to misstep so he’s trying to be as vague and cagey as he can be while still coming off as open and engaging.
Honestly he manages it pretty well.
With his arms folded across his chest, Lex has his back leaned to the wall as he ponders. A finger gently tapping against his cheek as he gets mildly lost in thought while watching Slade.
“He’s not too bad at crowdwork…” He hadn’t meant to mutter it out loud under his breath and thankfully no one else heard, though a quick blush darkens his cheeks as he looks around hurriedly. A small sigh of relief leaves him as he realizes his little audible musing was either completely ignored or totally unheard in general.
Lex shakes off the worries slowly plaguing him and turns his attention back to the panel, giving it his best attempt to try and watch like a normal person instead of looking at this through a business angle lens. Each time a question is asked or a story is started he finds his eyes wandering over to Slade even if the man isn’t the one speaking. Lex reacts more often than not to Slade’s reaction rather than the words spoken.
Despite sitting on stage with dozens of eyes on him in front of a crowded room, Slade’s gaze always seems to circle back to Lex. The poised and collected disposition on display now is a stark contrast to the one he’d gotten a first hand experience with earlier. Shrunken shoulders and fidgety hands now replaced with a squared stance, one that’s got a certain selective and lightly judgmental aura to it. Lex’s eyes trained forward and his sightline unwavering as he , almost a little too obviously, watches Slade’s every move.
Every time a question is thrown his way Slade feels a jolt of excitement ripple through him, like he’s finally able to show off just a little bit for Lex. Like he’s finally able to give Lex a good look of his investment. An investment that hasn’t even been made yet, the simple promise of one is enough for Slade to want to do better. And the guy offering it being a cute twink he could easily toss around the bedroom doesn’t hurt either.
The panel ends, a round of applause pours from the crowd as the men on stage stand and make their exits while the audience members stand and slowly file out of the room. Slade having followed the others off stage as they make their way back to the greenroom, Slade stopping mid step when he realizes that he should be going the other way since Lex is still waiting for him.
“Oh shit…Ok-I..uhhh…” Looking around in search of a staffer, Slade quickly realizes that he’s got no idea if Lex will be able to make it back to where they are without some kind of evidence that he’s supposed to be with him. Turns out he worried for nothing as while he was talking to a staffer and trying to explain the situation, Lex came up behind him with an unbothered look.
“There you are.” The auburn haired male says while looking up at the back of Slade’s head. A small chuckle leaves Lex when he sees Slade visibly jolt before he whips his head to the side to look at him. Slade’s one eye widening noticeably when he sees Lex.
“OH! You’re here!” Kicking himself for both how loud and how eager he is, Slade looks down at Lex like he’s expecting some kind of performance review but is instead met with a little smile.
“Good job out there. Very natural and fun. Just like the streams.” Lex starts but he doesn’t really know where he’s going with the sentiment. He absolutely enjoyed the panel and he wasn’t lying about Slade’s performance, but he’s not used to getting praise, let alone receiving it, so he’s just a smidge lost on where to take it now. Though Slade’s excitement at the positive feedback makes quick work of the silence left while Lex tries to find just the right words.
“Really?! You liked it?” Once again cursing himself, Slade tries to bury the stupid grin on his face but stops when he sees Lex flash him another little grin.
“Yeah. It was good, Slade. I just wan-” Lex’s words cut short by a previously unseen man throwing an arm over Slade’s shoulders and shaking him roughly, an ear piercing cackle tearing through the almost still air before a boisterous voice assaults Lex’s sensitive ears.
“Death Stroker!! Fucker, that was a tight little set bro!” That annoying voice is quickly followed by a quick scold from another man that comes up right behind him.
“Get off him. You don’t know him well enough to grab him.”
With eyes now narrowed and his brow furrowed, Lex watches in annoyance as the second man pulls the first off of Slade’s shoulders. Slade himself laughing and smacking away the man’s arms playfully as he turns to look back at the other two. Focusing, Lex studies the two men before he finally realizes why they look familiar.
Both of them were on the panel with Slade and while Lex doesn’t watch either of their content, he does recognize them eventually. Slade bantering back and forth with the other two for a minute before he looks back over at Lex.
“Oh, sorry-I-” Slade starts but Lex holds up a hand and gently shakes his head, stopping Slade’s almost desperate explanation before it can really start.
“It’s fine, Slade. We can talk later, alright?” Lex does his best to give a reassuring smile before he continues. “We’ll do dinner, I’ll send you the details ok?”
“I-I…”
“Yo, Stroker! You got a boyfriend?! Knew you weren’t straight but didn’t think twinks we-HMMPH!!” The loud one has a hand quickly slapped over his mouth by the other quieter male. The intelligent one between the two of them looks at Lex with wide, worried eyes while his lips are pulled into a tight line before he whisper yells to the other one.
“That’s not his boyfriend! Keep your damn mouth shut!” He looks back at Lex with an apologetic look before he tries his best to excuse his peer. “Mr. Luthor, I am so sorry. He’s-Well, he’s an idiot…”
Now it’s Slade’s turn. He’d kill this guy if he just lost out on a sponsor deal with LexCorp because of this fucking guy he only barely tolerates. And he’d kill himself if he just lost the chance to have a more personal relationship with Lex so it’s time to play kissass.
“Lexi-I mean-Mr.Luthor, I…” Slade’s unusually unsteady words slip from him. He doesn’t know the best way to course correct but thankfully he doesn’t have to.
“Slade, really, it’s alright. You go mingle and relax. We can talk business after. Go enjoy your first day here and get better acquainted with people.” Lex tries to keep it professional but allows the lightest bit of jealousy and possessiveness to slip. “I’ll get you tonight. I’ll text you details later, alright?”
The two men that interrupted stay silent, the smarter of the two definitely catching some flirtatious vibes but he decides he likes living, so he keeps that to himself. The idiot in the room tilts his head to the side, a hand still slapped over his mouth as he watches the display.
A smidge of pink tints the tips of Slade’s ears when he processes what Lex said— and the way he said it—before he gives a short nod.
“Ye-yeah…Sure, Mr.Lut-” Once again Slade is unsure of just exactly what level of respect and professionalism should be used though Lex is quick to clear up the confusion.
“Slade, please. It’s me. Just Lex is fine.” Lex gently pats Slade’s shoulder before he gives a small wave as he turns to leave.
The three men stay quiet, though one doesn’t have a choice, as Lex makes his way out of the now emptied panel room before they dare speak another word to each other.
“DUDE! You almost fucking wrecked that for me!” Slade gives the blabbermouth a punch to the arm as a correction, glaring down at the guy who recoils from the hit.
“Oww!” It’s a muffled cry that’s met with a glare, the hand from his mouth finally being removed so he can bitch Slade out proper. “What was that for, DS?! He said it was chill!”
The other man just shakes his head while Slade prepares to hit again but is stopped.
“That wasn’t his boyfriend. That was the CEO of LexCorp you fucking moron…You know, the guy who’s logo is on the shirt he’s wearing?” Pointing a thumb towards Slade’s shirt, it finally clicks with the guy just what exactly transpired.
“Ohhhhhhh! I get it! It’s the little rich sugar daddy that totally has the hots for you, isn’t it?!”
“I’m gonna hit him again.”
“Don’t hit him.”
The trio goes back and forth while they retreat back to the greenroom, Slade pulling out his phone in anticipation of getting a DM right away but when nothing comes, a wave of worry washes over him.
Meanwhile…
After excusing himself from the presence of Slade and his assumed friendly peers, Lex books it to the nearest bathroom. When he gets there he sees that the line for it is incredibly long, the tightness growing in his chest only grabs hold of him more.
“Oh god…Fuck fuck fuck…” Lex rushes through the crowded hallway as he makes his way towards an elevator, his fist balled tight in the black shirt from Slade he’s still got a firm hold of.
Once in the elevator, he taps the button lit up with the floor number his room is on and tucks himself as tightly into the corner of the elevator as he can. With the elevator filled with people, Lex tries in vain to keep his breathing under control as the elevator ascends. By the time it gets to his floor, one that atleast 4 floors above the main convention hall, Lex is the only one in the small room as the doors open onto the floor he’s staying on.
Fumbling with his room key, nearly dropping it in the process, Lex struggles to get his door unlocked as his vision starts to blur and his chest heaves as he hyperventilates. Finally in his room, Lex practically slams the door shut as he runs into his bathroom. His head is throbbing and his body feels like an exposed nerve. Every moment sending him closing to the brink of a breakdown. His chest is tight, his breathing unsteady, and the cruel quiet voice in the back of his mind now screaming at him in full volume.
Lex’s shaking hands quickly turn on the water before he cups them under the now running faucet, his hands trembling as he replays the whole day up until now in his mind over and over. He didn’t bother to remove his glasses before he started splashing water on his face, though he still closes his eyes whenever he brings his hands upwards. Repeating the soothing motion over and over, Lex finally starts to calm down about 10 minutes into the affair.
“Oh my god…he-he’s going to hate me…” Lex’s wet hands press into the countertop of the bathroom sink and soon they’re the only thing holding him upright, his legs shaky and weak as he slowly raises his head to look in the mirror, his pitiful reflection staring back at him.
He didn’t want this. He didn’t want to force Slade into a partnership. He wanted to meet him first. Wanted to build a proper rapport before he dared to offer the sponsorship. He didn’t want Slade to feel forced to accept the deal but Lex can’t help but feel that’s exactly what he did.
All he wanted to do was help Slade out! He didn’t like seeing the poor guy being yelled at over something that clearly wasn’t that big of a deal…He-He didn’t want anyone to make Slade upset and that was the quickest way Lex knew he could help…
“He’s gonna think I’m a user and-and a total asshole! He’s gonna fucking hate me!!” Aside from the self hate streaming from his lips and the running water spewing from the faucet, the rest of the room is silent as Lex watches himself in the mirror. “He-he’s gonna resent me…and-and think the whole time I just wanted to use him for business shit….”
Slowly slinking down Lex ends up on his knees with his head hanging low, tears slowly begin to form in his eyes behind his glasses.
“Oh god…I-I don’t want him to hate me…”
Self loathing is cut short when a now familiar ding comes from Lex’s phone. Raising his head just enough to look from the floor out the bathroom door, Lex sees his phone’s screen brightly shining from the floor where he dropped it earlier as he rushed to the bathroom before his panic attack. Shuffling over on his knees, Lex reaches out hesitantly before his fingers gingerly wrap around the phone to pick it off the floor.
Looking down at the screen, every hair on Lex’s body stands on end when he sees the notification is from Slade’s instagram. Finding his strength, Lex taps on the notification without thinking, it’s so instinctual to check Slade’s socials now that his body was on autopilot and he didn’t realize what he’d done until it was too late.
There on the screen is a brand new post. What Lex was already catastrophising as a takedown, hit piece, or a post that would be just Slade telling him to go fuck himself, Lex sees a soft playful post instead.
The picture is of Slade, the two guys from before, and a few others in the background…but the caption is what suddenly eases the majority of Lex’s most pressing fears.
‘First day was so much fun. Can’t wait for tonight.’
In Lex’s mind that could only mean one thing…
The black shirt that was also carelessly dropped onto the ground silently beckons Lex. As he slowly finds his footing, Lex shuffles over to pick up the article before tapping at the messenger icon, once again suddenly emboldened by Slade’s gentle unassuming taunts, Lex sends a short and sweet invitation.
‘Tonight at 7:30PM? Proper hotel lobby entrance, not convention entrance.’
There’s just 45 seconds between the message being sent and a reply being received.
In those 45 seconds, Lex swears he ages 15 years but it’s undone when he reads Slade’s reply.
Ohhhh We got some angst/fluff today! There's some mild hurt and comfort as well so enjoy! It's also pre-relationship care so that adds a little layer of spice to it!
When Lex isn't ready on time for work in the morning, Slade finds out he's been neglecting his hair and has to fix it for him.
Most days Lex wouldn’t put more than five minutes into his morning getting ready routine. He showers at night so that’s not something he has to deal with in the AM, so the pattern he’s followed for months goes as follows: wash face, brush teeth, brush hair, deodorant and get dressed. No extra steps necessary for the scientist turned CEO, he prefers practically to performance and presentation after all.
Usually Slade comes out of his room to Lex already sipping on coffee, making sure to land a quip or two about how long Slade takes to get ready in the morning. This whole living together thing hasn’t actually been that bad, a few missteps here and there but nothing to write home about. They’ve been cohabitating for a few months now, Lex practically demanded that Slade be a live-in bodyguard and Slade wasn’t one to argue. Lex pays him well enough but getting to crash in a penthouse and not pay rent for it? Pretty sweet deal, especially since once Lex is in the house for the night, he doesn’t need a baby sitter.
Slade walks out of his room and heads towards the kitchen, he doesn’t notice the lack of the scent of fresh coffee in the air but he does note the absence of his ‘boss’.
“Hmmm…” Slade hums lightly as he walks into the kitchen, he pokes his head in and looks side to side but still doesn’t catch a glimpse of Lex. His boss is usually up by now and is typically already drinking his coffee while getting an early start with his work before the even get to the office but there’s nothing. No sign of Lex anywhere in the apartment this morning.
“Alright, that’s weird…He never sleeps in cause the fucker never sleeps.” Immediately on edge, Slade walks out of the kitchen and scans the living room. He checks for anything that might be out of place or missing but he doesn’t see anything amiss. Slade’s socked feet gently tap against the hard floor as he retreats back towards his room but he walks further down the hall, bypassing his room entirely.
Coming from the foyer, Slade’s room is the first on the righthand side of the hall, opposite his door on the left hand side is Lex’s office. The last door on the left hand side of the hall is Lex’s room and Slade knows damn well that Lex retreated from his office into his room late in the night.
If you’d ask him, Slade would even be able to pinpoint the time since he was wide awake when he heard the familiar sound of Lex’s office door creaking open, a light yawn that he knows could only come from Lex, and shuffling feet along the floor that stops near Lex’s door. This itself had also become a fairly common routine and one that certainly wasn't broken last night, so Slade can only assume Lex is still in his room.
Thinking back, Slade has only been in Lex’s room one time and it was when he first moved in. If Slade was going to be a live-in bodyguard, he wasn’t going to half ass this. He did a proper sweep of the apartment, mentally mapping all exits and entry points that might pose importance later, and even had Lex link up the security system he had installed in the apartment to Slade’s phone so that he could monitor any bullshit that might ensue.
Say what you will about his attitude but Slade could play professional, when he wants to that is.
He doesn’t hesitate to push Lex’s door open and walk in, taking his time to once again scan his surroundings for anything out of the ordinary. Lex isn’t in his bed, the backpack he usually takes with him is still on the desk unzipped and the laptop off to the side while his phone’s alarm is still going off quietly.
“Luthor, you in here? You’re the late one this time, fucker.” Slade calls out to Lex, smirking lightly when he realizes Lex probably just overslept and is still fumbling through his morning.
Rolling his head to the side, Slade’s eye lands on the connecting bathroom door that’s cracked open with light spilling out of it, the light whir of the fan adding just a sliver of noise to the otherwise quiet abode. That is until a mild panic stricken gasp and the clattering of objects falling to the ground catches Slade’s guard.
“Lex…That you?” Slade nears the bathroom with his hand outstretched to push the door open more before it’s hastily slammed shut, Slade squaring his shoulders and straightening his back in response before he grabs hold of the knob.
“Luthor, unless you’re shitting open the fucking door.” Something feels wrong in the air. Feels tense and uneasy and Slade isn’t a fan.
“I-I’m fine! Just running late, Slade! Get out of my room!” Lex’s fretful tone and the frantic delivery betraying the words which he speaks.
“Fuck that, Luthor. Open this damn door or I kick it in.”
“Don’t do that! I’m telling you I’m fine, just leave!”
“You’ve got till three.” It’s a threat that Slade fully intends to deliver on if Lex doesn’t cooperate.
“Slade, I’m not-”
“One.”
“Wait, what?” Lex’s voice barely reaches beyond the door, like he’s not quite processed what was just said until after he responded.
“Two.” Slade’s single word intimidation sternly delivered with an unenthused tone.
“Wait wait wait Fine!” From behind the door comes a flurry of small, quick noises. The sounds of stuff being put away, the muffled mutterings that can’t be made out, and the slow metallic click of the bathroom door finally being unlocked, Slade hadn’t even realized Lex had locked it until he heard the unlock.
Slade puts down the leg he had lowered in preparation of the kick as Lex hesitantly opens the door, his head dipped in low with his eyes cast to the floor as he tries to avoid Slade’s eye. The bodyguard can’t see anything wrong but Lex’s body language is screaming otherwise.
“What’s wrong?” Slade puts a hand to his hip as he awaits an answer, eye scanning over Lex’s body trying to pinpoint the issue but he fails to do so.
“It’s nothing. Let’s go.” Lex goes to move past Slade while Lex brings his hand up to rub the base of his head, flinching when his fingers find his hair. Lex made the mistake of passing Slade on his left side so Slade got an uninterrupted view of the display.
“Hold it.” Slade’s hand comes up and grabs hold of Lex’s head from the top, his fingers digging in lightly to Lex’s chestnut hair but Slade pulls a face when he feels just how greasy Lex’s locks are.
“HEY!” Lex goes to pull away but Slade’s other hand shoots out to grab hold of his arm and hold Lex in place, the now captive man struggling against Slade’s tight hold. “Slade, let go of me. We need to get to the office. I have work to do.”
“Shut the fuck up, Luthor.” Slade lets go of the top of Lex’s head so he can inspect the rest of Lex’s hair, a nagging worry already starting to eat away at him when he feels Lex tense as fingers drag through Lex’s hair. It’s not long until Slade finds the object of Lex’s discomfort, a badly matted knot that’s close to Lex’s scalp that would make anyone whinge in pain.
Lex’s shoulders pull in closer to his body and he tries to pull away from Slade’s fingers but he’s forced to stop when the knot pulls tightly against his scalp, a quick yelp and groan ripping from him before he stops moving, his eyes clenching shut as he reaches up to try and get Slade’s dingers out of his hair.
“Slade, I’m not in the mood. I’ll deal with it later, let go!” Shame drips from Lex, an otherwise proud man now begging for Slade to forget what he’s seen and to let him go.
“How long has it been like this?” Ignoring Lex’s pleas, Slade moves himself closer as he gently pulls his fingers from Lex’s hair, careful to not tug at the knots more than he needs to free himself.
“I-I don’t know…I didn’t think it got this bad.” Lex admits, his hand replacing Slade’s in location to gently pat the hair back down, trying to make it look as presentable as possible as the knots lay hidden beneath the first layer of his thick hair. His hand is swatted away by Slade who lets go of Lex’s arm to start checking the rest of his hair with both hands now. Lex stays still, his brow and lips reacting in time with the slight tugs and pinches he feels as Slade examines.
“You shower nightly, Lex. How does this happen?” Slade’s words form an odd amalgamation of scold and concern.
“I-I’m-I’m not sure. I just thought if I washed it and brushed it out it’d be fine but I can’t get the knots out…” Lex shuffles his weight, wincing when he moves and the knot catches one of Slade’s fingers roughly.
“Yeah, no shit, dumbass. This is so fucking matted, Lex.” Slade sounds so jaded and done as he speaks. Lex can’t see his face but he can only imagine the look of disgust Slade must have. A shade of red crosses his cheeks in embarrassment that’s laced with shame as he feels Slade continue to work his fingers through the hair.
“I-I’ll go to the barber after work…They can fix it right?” Lex doesn’t know why he’s asking Slade but he needs some type of encouragement given the situation.
Slade however doesn’t have much in the way of soothing sentiments that he can offer.
“If you went to a barber or a hair stylist with this they would just tell you they’re going to shave it.” It’s an honest answer but one Lex desperately didn’t want to hear.
“What?! No! Slade, I’m not letting someone shave my head! That’s not-” Panic laces Lex’s words, stress and humiliation forcing a few tears into his eyes before Slade’s words snap him out of his ever encroaching spiral.
“Sit on the fucking toilet, Luthor.” It’s a sharp demand as Slade ushers Lex back into the bathroom.
“Slade! NO! You’re not shaving my head!” Spreading his arms so that he catches himself the doorframe, Lex holds himself in place as he refuses to entertain the idea he thinks Slade is proposing.
“I’m not gonna fucking shave you! Sit on the damn toilet, Lex! I’m gonna fix it!” Slade shoves Lex roughly into the bathroom as he takes off his suit jacket and hangs it on the door, rolling up his sleeves as he takes a look at the supplies he has to work with.
Off to the side, Lex watches him confused as he slowly lowers himself to sit on the closed toilet, his eyes never once moving off of Slade.
“What do you mean’ fix it’?” Voice low and wavering, Lex brings a hand up to try and work out a knot but he yelps when he tugs too harshly and a sharp snap can be heard from a strand of hair snapping in his hold.
“Knock it off if you don’t wanna have a bald spot.”
“Bald spot?!” Lex pulls his hand out of his hair when he hears that, unsure of what’s worse between a bald spot and going shaved entirely.
Slade ignores him, walking over with a hairbrush in one hand as he points his finger at Lex and does a quick swirl motion at him.
“Turn. Reverse cowgirl the toilet, Luthor. The back has to face me.”
Lex raises an eyebrow and manages to choke out a scoff when he asks Slade to clarify. “What do you mean ‘reverse cowgirl’ the toilet?”
“Like the South Park bit. Turn around and face the tank and use it like a little table. You’ve never seen it, have you?” Slade sounds more disappointed in Lex for him not getting the reference than he was for the hair he was about to fix.
“I didn’t watch much South Park, Wilson…” Lex gently admits as he turns to do what Slade says, struggling lightly to spread his legs and get comfortable with his back now facing the standing man.
“I gotta fix that. It’s a decent show to put on in the background and get drunk to.” Slade reaches over to grab something from Lex’s shower caddy, his hand wrapping around an almost full bottle of conditioner.
“Slade…What, what exactly are you going to do? I-I don’t think washing it is going to help right-ECHK!” Lex jolts forward, his query interrupted as Slade pours a generous amount of conditioner onto the top of Lex’s head, the sudden cold sending a sharp shiver through Lex’s body as he adjusts to it. “WHY?!”
“Conditoner. It helps lubricate the hair to work out the knots. If you do it dry you’ll damage more hair and it’ll hurt like a bitch.” It’s said with such conviction that Lex doesn’t even try to argue though how Slade knows all this is a mystery to him. He can’t imagine Slade with long enough hair for this to be a problem so he’s curious about why Slade knows this.
Keeping his questions to himself for now, Lex sits quietly as Slade starts sectioning the hair into workable parts, carefully working out a few connecting knots to make the work easier down along the line. Lex can feel as Slade gently works the conditioner into his hair before he starts with the section off to the left side first.
“I think the bottom part of my hair is alright…The ends aren’t that bad, right?” Lex asks, moving his head slightly only for Slade to force his head back to looking straight ahead so that he can work easier.
“Doesn’t matter. You start at the bottom and work your way up. You start from the top and go from the scalp you’re gonna fuck yourself up. It just gets all brittle and shit afterwards so it’ll knot again super quick and it’s a pain in the ass to deal with.” Slade has to ignore the small yelps and whines he hears from Lex as he starts, making slow progress as he works his way through the first section of mats.
Lex tries his best to sit still, every once in a while a sharp pain will again rip through him as Slade has to force extra attention into a particularly dense patch. When he does encounter a bad knot, Slade will offer a small apology before he moves on. Slade’s voice is softer than Lex has ever heard it before, the almost tender way Slade is handling him is so new to Lex that he isn’t quite sure how to react to it.
“Sorry, that was a bad one.” It’s a soft admission that is quickly moved away from, like Slade is a bit timid to let the words linger in the air too long. “You know we’re gonna be late, right Luthor?”
Lex sighs, his shoulders dropping slightly when he realizes that Slade is very right. “I know…But it’ll be fine…It’s not like someone is going to be mad at me. And you basically get a free pass anyway.” Lex offers a small shrug and a weak smile, trying to keep the mood a little lighter as Slade continues his work, though the latter can still sense just how tense Lex is.
“I’m almost done with this section. After that we take a break.” Slade isn’t asking and Lex isn’t arguing. His scalp tender and angry, a headache already well on its way to putting Lex through the ringer.
“Alright…Can I stand up or?” The way Lex asks drips with innocence and mild naivety, like he’s fully leaning on Slade for permission and guidance through this.
“Yeah, you can get up. Stretch your back and get a drink after we finish this section. You still got two others I gotta get through.”
“Two more?!” Lex cries out, his eyes wide when he realizes that he’s in for this far longer than he would’ve liked.
“Quit your bitching, you just gotta sit there. I gotta do all the damn work.” Slade runs his fingers through the worked over section, any time his finger catches a stray lingering small snag he gingerly coaxes it out.
Another wave of shame runs through Lex. He’s a grown man but here he is with hair knotted so badly that he has to have his bodyguard baby him while he detangles his hair. The sheer self loathing that starts to swirl around him quickly shut down when he feels a hard pat on his back before Slade speaks.
“There. Stand up and stretch. I’m gonna get a fucking drink and a poptart.” Slade reaches over and wipes his hands on one of Lex’s clean towels, his hands slick with the excess conditioner before he cleans them off.
Lex watches Slade leave the bathroom from the corner of his eye before he turns around, hesitantly reaching up to test the patch of hair Slade worked through. His fingers easily gliding through the now untangled locks over and over, Lex’s eyes wide in shock as a small ripple of relief rises through him. That side of his scalp is already feeling better, the once heavy pressure now light and airy. Lex switches hands and tests the untouched parts, the knots still deep and tight, though the hair he touches does feel less brittle than before—certainly thanks to the conditioner Slade used.
It is working.
Whatever Slade is doing is absolutely having an effect.
Lex slowly stands, rubbing the top of his leg to encourage better circulation as he walks out of the bathroom and picks up his phone, grimacing when he realizes a bit of conditioner was still on his fingers. He lazily wipes his hand against his shirt before he taps away at his phone as he walks out of the room. He plans to take Slade’s advice and get himself a drink before they get back to it.
He quickly types out a message to his secretary to tell her that he’s going to be late and that he very well just might not be coming in today. Lex can hear Slade in the kitchen as he walks, his eyes trailing up from his phone when he gets the faintest whiff of coffee wafting through the air.
Once Lex gets into the kitchen, he sees Slade leaning up against the counter while he’s eating a poptart and looking down at his phone. Coffee is already brewing in the pot while the coffee cup Lex usually uses already sitting right beside it. Lex tilts his head to the side as Slade takes another quick bite of his poptart before he realizes Lex is now in the same room with him.
“You good?” Slade gets a quick head nod towards Lex as he asks, his question lightly grumbled from the breakfast pastry in his mouth.
“It’s better…Thanks…” Lex quietly admits as he nears the coffee maker, his hand wrapping around the handle of the pot to pour himself a cup.
“Yeah. It’s fine.” It’s a quick acknowledgement but right now that isn’t good enough for Lex. Slade has been too nice. Too gentle. Too caring towards him for Lex to just accept that ‘It’s fine’ at face value.
“Wilson, can…can I ask you something?” Lex stares down at the dark coffee in his cup, looking at his unsteady reflection in the liquid as he asks, afraid to make eye contact with Slade when he asks the question he really wants to.
“Sure, man. What’s up?” Slade is already preparing himself for the question, he knows damn well what Lex is about to ask him. It’s not hard to guess and while the answer isn’t something Slade is exactly itching to share, it’s not like he’s ashamed to let Lex in on the truth.
“How exactly do you know all of this?” Lex points at his hair as he asks, his eyes finally shifting upwards to look at Slade’s leaning frame. “I mean, you don’t seem like the type to take a cosmetology course…” Lex tries to pepper in some humor, it’s not acknowledged by Slade but it is mildly appreciated.
“I…I had an ex that had this kind of shit happen. She’d get super closed off sometimes and she wouldn’t work out the knots in her hair. It would get real bad but she didn’t wanna go to a salon to get it fixed cause she was embarrassed about it. I…I kinda learned to deal with it for her.” Slade’s head is dipped lightly, his shoulders shrug as he admits that final detail before he takes another bite of his second poptart. Hoping that quick little anecdote is enough to satisfy Lex’s curiosity.
“Oh…” trailing off, Lex takes a moment to mull over what Slade said. That was a slightly different answer than he was expecting, though he’s happier than if it was Slade’s own hair he’d had to learn this knowledge for. “Well…Thanks, Slade…I-I don’t really know what I would’ve done without you for this…”
A quick perk of pride waves through Slade but he quickly buries it, shaking away the little bit of excitement from the praise before he stands up straighter and looks at Lex.
“Well get your coffee and some food if you’re gonna eat it. The quicker we get the rest of that shit dealt with, the quicker I can get back to not having to give a fuck about you more than normal.”
Lex lets out a small chuckle, taking a sip of his coffee before he reaches into the cupboard to get out a little granola bar. It’s not every morning Lex decides to forgo his normal coffee only breakfast but getting a little food in his system doesn’t sound like such a bad idea.
After about ten minutes the pair returns to the bathroom, Lex taking his seat back on the toilet ‘reverse cowgirl’ so that Slade once again has an unobstructed view of his project. This time a bit more conversation is had between the two men. Mostly just menial small talk that only serves to distract Lex from the pain Slade is having to give him and helps Slade’s light hints of deja-vu that he’s having a hard time escaping.
“Ahh…nhgh…” The lightest whines from Lex Slade hears only force more memories of his past closer to the forefront of his mind as he works. Slade inadvertently slips further into the headspace he was in when he was dealing with this prior.
“I know, I know…But I’m throu-” Half way into his soothing words, Slade realized just how gently he was speaking to Lex, but he can’t really force the honey in his voice away. “We’re through the worst of it…The last section is smaller than the other two.”
The sweetness in Slade’s voice puts Lex at ease, the lightness in the air and the tenderness of his touch lull Lex further into Slade’s company. Lex closes his eyes and lets himself be worked over by Slade, an immeasurable amount of trust having been quickly established between the two during this private moment.
“Are we really almost done?”
A soft hum of confirmation purrs in Slade’s throat as he runs his fingers gently in Lex’s now mostly unknotted hair, just a few little snags here and there all that remain of the once deeply matted bed of hair. Lex’s hair is still slick with conditioner as Slade pulls his hands away to properly brush through the thick auburn locks that have now been freed. Gliding seamlessly through the hair, Lex lets out a few soft moans in relief as his hair is combed. His neck already feeling less tense and his scalp no longer being pulled or tugged brutally as the brush runs through his hair.
“That feels so much better, Slade…Thank you…” Lex leans gently into Slade’s touch, almost like he’s afraid the new reassuring touch will soon be gone.
Lex didn’t mean to do it. He didn’t even realize he had done it until Slade pulled away from him.
“Yeah…N-Not an issue…” Slade let his hands linger, let himself hold Lex for just a second before he recoiled his touch. He regains his senses and comes back to himself before he tries to muster up his usual attitude. “But don’t you let it happen again! I swear if I have to spend another 3 hours detangling your hair, I’m gonna make you pay me fucking double overtime!”
Lex turns back around and stands up when he notices Slade is already at the sink, turning on the water to rinse the conditioner from his hands before he looks back over at Lex.
“Get in the shower. You gotta rinse that conditioner out of your hair or it’ll be greasy and nasty all fucking day.”
Lex reaches up to touch his hair again, his fingers finally able to run through his hair with ease for the first time in weeks. He hadn’t realized how bad it had gotten and only now does he realize just how tense those knots were making his head. Another relieved sigh leaves him as he nods, his eyes closed as he runs both his hands through his hair a few times before he looks back up at Slade.
“I will…Thanks, Slade.” Lex gives a genuine smile, his tired eyes a little brighter than Slade’s ever seen.
Slade throws his head to the side to break eye contact as he waves his hand at Lex, trying to hide the growing blush that’s spreading across his face while he makes his hasty exit from the bathroom.
“I’m taking the day off, Luthor! I put in my fucking hours with your ass enough for today, so don’t expect anything else from me!” Slade does his best to throw his voice with some implied aggression but it fails to carry the weight he wants it to.
Slade leaves Lex’s room, stopping just beyond the threshold to make sure he hears the shower turn on before he heads back into his room to change out of his work clothes. The jacket he started that whole interaction with still draped on Lex’s bathroom door and it’ll stay there, he’s got no intention of going back in Lex’s bathroom when the guy just jumped in the shower.
Changing from his suit into a pair of sweat pants and a plain dark shirt, Slade walks out of his room and decides to claim the tv in the living room for the day. It isn’t long until Lex emerges in something similar, a pair of orange and grey plaid lounge pants with a light lavender shirt. The best accessory Slade sees on him is a small towel draped across his shoulders to catch any excess water that drips from the edges of his hair as it dries.
The hair already looks healthier than before and Lex does look more refreshed.
“Feel better?” Slade looks at the shorter male, watching curiously as Lex crosses the living room and gets closer to him.
“Much…” Lex plops down on the other side of the couch, seemingly agreeing with the notion of just taking the day off.
“We taking a lazy day?”
“I don’t really think you’re allowed to claim this is a lazy day…You spent like 3 hours on my hair.”
“Fine. It’s a we’re not leaving the house sort of day?” Slade tilts his head to the side, stealing a quick glance at Lex’s less than professional attire for the day. Lounge pants and a slightly overside teeshirt look good on the twink, Slade wasn’t going to deny that.
Lex brings his legs up onto the furniture, his knees bent as he leans against the arm on his side of the couch and cuddles lightly into the throw blanket that’s near him. His wet hair clinging to his face and neck as he adjusts the glasses sitting on the bridge of his nose, his eyes looking down at his phone as he scrolls.
“That sounds nice actually…I don’t want to leave the apartment if I can avoid it today.” Lex starts before he looks over at Slade, the aforementioned man jumps a little since he was caught staring but he’s soon caught off guard when Lex tosses his phone over to him.
“The fuck is this for?” Slade asks as he looks down at Lex’s phone, shocked that Lex willingly gave up his phone to him.
“Pick lunch for us. I don’t feel like going out or cooking. You pick what lunch is gonna be and just order it on DoorDash…Give a nice tip so they get here sooner, please.”
Slade snickers at his boss, shocked that Lex is leaning into the ‘Lazy Day’ this hard this quickly.
“Hey, I’m not turning down free food and not having to go out and get it.” Slade takes a second before he lands on a place that looks good, adding his order before he leans over to hand Lex the phone so he can put in whatever he wants next.
This is the most casual the two had ever interacted with one another. The most docile Slade has ever been. And this is assuredly the most relaxed Lex has ever been in the presence of another person.
Once Lex orders, he puts his phone off to the side and settles into the couch more, seemingly waiting for Slade to throw something on the tv for their entertainment. Lex doesn’t complain when Slade puts on a stupid movie, actually looking like he’s not having a terrible time when a few of the jokes surprisingly land with the usually uptight CEO.
The day goes on with little more to note.
Though every once in a while a slight shift in the air changes the train of thought of both men.
Slade finds himself stealing a glance in Lex’s direction.
And Lex finds himself more at ease than he’s felt in a long, long time.

Another rapid fire round of Slex Headcanons! Been a while so we're just gonna jump right back in. Peep that title and proceed with caution cause some of these are gonna get heated~ +18 obvs lol Pt.1 , Pt.2 , Slex Headcanon Masterlist
Lex will always prefer to takes showers at night. He doesn't have a proper nightly routine but he tired to keep one once.
It ended on just the second night when he stayed up late working and didn't understand why he was so tired until he looked out the window and saw the sun coming up.
Slade often gets annoyed with how anal Lex is about taking showers at night. They head to bed way too late? Lex gotta take a shower and Slade has to wait for his man. They fool around and get messy? Lex has to take a shower before he goes to bed while Slade is all pissed cause he WANTED Lex to spend the night all messy in bed with him.
Even though he's so particular about himself, Lex doesn't actually give a shit if Slade takes a shower or not before bed. He knows that Slade will take one at some point so it's not an issue.
Slade pees in the shower but wont admit it.
Lex tries to save himself time in the shower before bed and brushes his teeth in the shower.
Lex routinely showers with his glasses on. He cracked two ribs once when he was showering without them and won't dare risk it again.
LEX IS A BLANKET THIEF.
Slade doesn't actually give a shit that Lex takes the covers. Slade typically just sleeps with the blanket pulled up to his chest anyway so it's not like he's cold sensitive.
Slade would be happy with a mattress on the floor and a single pillow but Lex demands a more cushy bed.
Once he realized that Lex was full committed to getting a new bed set up, Slade only had one condition. Wooden headboard.
Lex didn't realize why it was such a sharp sticking point in the decision making process until they christened the new furniture the first night they had it.
Lex constantly scolds Slade for snacking in bed but Slade doesn't listen.
Lex can't sleep if the TV is too loud or too bright, he would actually prefer for the room to be totally dark at night but that doesn't happen.
Slade needs the TV to be on for him to actually get to sleep. He hates trying to go down in a pitch black room. It puts him away too much on edge and he'll just stay up all night tossing and turning.
Lex floated the idea of a nightlight but Slade promptly said 'Fuck No'.
If they aren't in bed to fuck, the pair actually doesn't speak much while lying in bed at night.
Lex knows that if he's talking in bed then he's not sleeping or fucking, so if he's up he might as well be doing something productive. This boy does NOT bedrot.
Slade just likes his night to be nearing an end if he's in bed and they aren't fucking.
That's not to say they ignore eachother though! Slade will prop himself up in bed and watch shit on the TV with the lights off and Lex, while trying to shield his eyes from the light radiating off of the screen, will turn towards Slade and practically cuddle into him.
Slade usually has to take Lex's glasses off for him. Lex is terrible about taking them off before he gets settled in bed.
Slade has 0 problem about jacking off with Lex sleeping next to him in bed. He'll even look over and watch Lex sleep while he does it. He doesn't even bother to try and keep his voice down while he does it.
Slade highkey wants to wake Lex up when he does it.
Lex has woken up exactly 3 times because Slade moans too damn loud when he cums.
Slade falls asleep after Lex 9/10 times. That 10% where Slade goes down before Lex, Lex will turn off the TV and get comfy. Only to wake up the next morning with his head hurting and his glasses fucked up because he slept with them on, the frames having been digging into the side of his head all night.
Lex fell in love with Slade first but Slade fell harder.
When it comes to kink exploration, Slade is way more open about telling Lex he wants to try new things but getting him to actually try them is the hard part.
Like, Slade will admit almost immediately share when he finds a new kink but he's surprisingly slow to introduce in the bedroom. Lex is a bit more skeptical about exploring new things but once he decides he's down for it he actually gets impatient and will just jump into it without actually discussing it first.
Funfact, that's how acupuncture play got introduced and banned within a single night at their place.
Slade doesn't want a boat but he wants to fuck Lex on a boat!
Lex doesn't want a yacht but he wants to fuck Slade on a yacht.
Believe it or not those are two different things and the two of them will defend that with their lives.
Lex had never given head before so it was a very step learning curve. He used teeth...
Slade...Slade was pretty sore after the first time. He had fun! He thinks...
Slade was eager to teach Lex by repeatedly showing him but he's pretty sure Lex intentionally kept giving shitty blowjobs just so Slade would give them to him.
That's not the case. Lex just sucked at sucking for a while.
Despite looks, both men are actually switches! Slade just prefers being a service top and Lex prefers bottoming. That being said, sometimes Slade pulls a pillow princess routine and Lex decides to pull rank and wants to dominate Slade, it just depends on the mood.
Slade will just walk around in his boxers in the apartment.
Speaking of, Slade only had a one bedroom apartment before he moved in with Lex. Once Lex became CEO of his own company, he splurged on a nicer apartment and didn't hesitate to move Slade in.
Before they went public with the relationship, the cover was just that Slade was a live in, full time bodyguard. That's actually what happened, so it's technically the truth, but it's still just a good cover story to have anyway.
Lex has small feet. He can't fit into kid's sizes but he's only like a size 8 in men's.
Slade wears a fake wedding band and it pisses Lex off SO MUCH. He started wearing it just to pick up chicks at bars and its just become a part of his normal attire.
It does not help the rumors lol
Lex is intent on giving Slade a proper wedding band at some point but he's keeping that close to his chest for now.
Slade learns that Lex never attended his senior prom, he wont tell Slade why but he's determined to find out why.
Eventually Lex caves and tells Slade that it's for two reasons. He thought it was stupid. And nobody asked him.
That's when Lex tells Slade that because he was in advanced placement classes and because he skipped a grade, he was about two years younger than everyone in his graduating class.
Lex was also a very dorky teen, like the adult he is now, so that coupled with the age difference didn't leave him as anyone's first choice.
Slade, in a moment of romantic zeal, plans a small two person prom.
He snuck into an unused research room in LexCorp and set everything up. A small lattice arch for them to walk under, balloons done up, a few streamers that are halfassedly put up, mood lightning set while a small speaker softly plays music. Slade even tried to set up a snack table like you'd have at a normal prom but it's got more things suited to Slade's taste than Lex's but it's still pretty good.
Lex is very VERY embarrassed and almost backs out of the room when he sees what Slade planned but he stops when Slade extends out a hand towards him before he speaks.
A chance encounter in an elevator ends up with Slade and Lex running away together...Well they're running to the panel room because now both these boys are running late!
Chapter 5: Panel-ize Me
As the elevator door opens, Slade scrambles to shove the contents of his backpack back into the rucksack. He’d hastily pulled out a few items in search of the backup tee-shirt he usually packs in his bag—it’s always good to have a spare shirt bullshit should ensue but in his hurry he’d seemingly forgotten to pack an extra. Slade stands back up once again and slings his bag over his shoulder, body already moving to exit the elevator as he’s eager to get away from the crowd of people who were too impatient for the two people already in the lift to exit.
‘Good thing Lex-WAIT!’ Slade’s thoughts were interrupted when he suddenly snapped back to reality, whipping around to look back at Lex, Slade realized his #1 fan and donor was struggling to shove his way past the group of people.
Basic social anxiety coupled with his fear of doing a massive social faux-pas hinders Lex from making any progress in exiting the elevator. Every time he manages to get a step closer to the doorway, Lex is forced back by either another person getting onto the elevator or someone already in the lift moving in a way that creates an impasse for him.
“Excuse-wait! Sorry, can I just-ohhf! Hey! Please, I just-” Lex’s voice far more timid than he’d meant but he’s not able to bring himself to actually manage a proper complaint. One hand gripped around the small sling bag on his side while he has the sweaty black tee clenched tightly to his chest. His eyes widen as his anxiousness grows, he needs to get off the elevator and his nerves are growing more and more frayed with each passing second he’s forced to be in this crowded elevator.
His vision starts to blur as the panic sets in, his shoulders shaking lightly as his head spins. It’s too many people in too small of a space and he needs to get out of here. He almost begins to hyperventilate until a voice cuts through the panic and brings him out of his daze.
“LEX!”
Fretful eyes focus as Lex snaps his head forward and his eyes catch Slade’s gaze. Without thinking and with no hesitation, Lex outstretches his arm towards Slade in a silent plea for rescue. He hadn’t even realized he’d done it until Slade meets him half way, a strong hand suddenly wrapped around his wrist that robustly pulls him out of his temporary hell. Lex is freed from the confines of the elevator and the anguish was being in such close proximity to so many strangers.
Lex stumbled out, nearly tripping over his own feet as he practically rushed towards Slade. The elevator closes and begins its ascent while Lex is still trying to get his bearings. His shoulders lightly shaking as he tries to calm down, his fingers digging into the black fabric of Slade’s shirt as he clutches his chest, slowly but surely soothing his nerves as he grounds himself. He shakes his head while he brings a hand up to his face, fiddling nervously with his glasses while he looks up at Slade and goes to apologize but he’s stopped mid-atonement.
“I-I’m so-”
“You good?” Slade’s head is dipped low so that he can look Lex in the eyes better, concern exposed on every inch of the taller man’s face as he asks. The hold Slade has on Lex’s wrist tightens ever so slightly, the soft squeeze of assurance accidental yet endlessly appreciated.
“Y-Yeah…I’m good…” Lex's weak voice wavers, tripping over his words as he blushes from Slade’s interest.
Impossibly in sync, both men look down at their touch before they both pull away in embarrassment. Sharing a soft laugh as they move, Slade stands up straighter and rubs the back of his head while Lex throws his head to the side and shrinks his shoulders inward. Slade trying to make himself feel bigger, untouchable, unshakable. While Lex seemingly prays that no one dares look his way.
An award silence slowly fills the space between the two men. Neither knowing what to say or how to say it. This isn’t how either man thought their first meeting would go and it was far from perfect.
Slade came across like a total jackass, one that’s so self-centered he failed to notice an entire other person in a small elevator. The kind of guy that thinks the whole world revolves around him. He had no problem shoving his way through a crowd of people and no problem just grabbing Lex. He took no boundaries into account that entire time. He’s just a dick…
Lex on the other hand felt like he was a total mess. A blushing, fretful ball of nerves and skittishness that can barely function. He’s so forgettable and inconsequential that he was totally ignorable to a guy he’s been practically drooling over for months. He couldn’t even get out of an elevator without needing help from another person and he still almost had a panic attack. How pathetic and sad…
That’s how they saw themselves.
But how did the other see them?
To Lex, Slade came across like a confident guy. Someone that knows what he wants and doesn’t see an issue with making it happen. The kind of person that knows his self-worth and isn’t afraid to take what he wants. He isn’t scared. He doesn’t hesitate. Doesn’t fret. Slade is a guy that doesn’t care who’s watching him and doesn’t make other people’s opinions of him a main concern. He knows what he wants. He knows who he is.
And to Slade? Lex is a conscientious guy. The kind of person who thinks before he acts. He’s careful. He’s calculated. He’s got social awareness aplenty and knows how to behave himself. He’s a prepared guy that’s seemingly put together! He’s attentive and mindful. He’s got his life together. He’s an astute, patient and perceptive man—quaities that any adult should strive to achieve.
Both men go to try and break the silence but they only end up interrupting each other once again.
“I just want to say thank-”
“Thanks! For the shi-”
Slade lets out a nervous chuckle while Lex snaps his mouth shut. Lex tries to tell Slade that he should go first but Slade does the same. The pair moving in a back and forth, ebb and flow dynamic that would make even the most tropeish romantic comedies groan in annoyance.
“You! You go first, please!” Lex demands lightly, his weight shifting back and forth from one foot to the next as he looks up at Slade.
“Ok, ok. Sorry about the whole…shirt thing.” Slade starts, his thumb pointing to the shirt in Lex’s hands before he flicks his wrist back to point at his chest towards the purple shirt Lex gave him to wear.
“Oh-OH! I-I…You-You’re so fine…Shit! No! You-you are fine! It’s-it’s not a problem!” Lex struggles, blushing more when he gave an unnecessary—though not untrue—compliment while he dismisses Slade’s apology. “I-I should be saying sorry to you for that whole…elevator fiasco…”
“What? Dude, no fucking way. That wasn’t you, man! That was total bullshit! You don’t get on an elevator before the other people get off it, that’s just fucking rude.” Slade waves his hand, trying to downplay the whole endeavour for Lex’s sake.
“Still…Thanks…” Lex manages out a quick gratitude, hoping that the blush on his face can just be explained away because the convention hall they’re in is just a little too warm.
“Well then thanks for the shirt…You saved my ass, man. I ended up running from my hotel here and it’s so fucking hot out that I was sweating way too much for comfort. Like I feel like I ran a damn marathon!” Slade chuckles loudly, snickering while he shakes his head before looking back down at Lex, expecting the smaller man to hand over the sodden shirt but he doesn’t move to.
“Oh! That!” Slade’s eye flickers down to the shirt Lex still has as he starts to reach out for it, but he stops and he forces his sightline up back when Lex continues. “Yeah. You're welcome…I-I had actually intended to give the shirt to you later…” Lex admits, his hands tightening their hold on the black shirt still close to his chest while he speaks, internally kicking himself for choosing to admit something so embarrassing in this already borderline shameful interaction.
“Heh what?” Slade tilts his to the right side, white bangs swaying in turn. The black and orange eyepatch Slade wears finally fully visible to Lex for the first time. Most of the time it’s hidden behind white fringe, only occasionally being seen when Slade moves his head abruptly to the side or when he fixes his bangs or adjusts his headphones.
“I just thought it was going to be a funny bit! Like I had this whole cool line planned in my head…” Lex relents, his foot tapping nervously as he speaks. He dares not look at Slade directly, the almost innocent gleam in Slade’s eye just a little too much for the poor guy to handle.
“Really? You were gonna give me a gift and you had a line prepped?! C’mon. Let’s hear it!” Slade crosses his arms over his chest, excited by the idea that the dude who has basically been his sugar daddy for the last few months had a bit planned.
“What?! NO!” Lex would rather die than actually say it now. He can’t even explain why he felt the need to disclose the fact that the shirt was intended for him the whole time! And the idea of Lex actually saying that stupid line to Slade in person?! Not gonna happen!
“Oh, man, come on! Please???” Slade pleads with Lex in a teasing manner, his bottom lip jutting out ever so slightly before he gives Lex a quick flash of puppy dog eyes—except he’s just got the one.
Lex chokes on nothing. His mouth suddenly dry and a lump quickly forms in his throat as he watches Slade.
“Please? I’m already wearing the shirt, and since you said you were gonna give it to me anyway, I’m keeping it. So come on. Out with it. Just let me hear the line, Lexi!” There Slade goes, using the nickname he’s long since blessed Lex with. The first time either one of them had properly acknowledged the fact that while this is their first time meeting, they are very, very familiar with one another.
The tips of Lex’s ears darken with a crimson blush, thankfully it’s hidden by his hair but he can still feel the heat radiating off of them while he sighs heavily.
“F-Fine…But don’t laugh!”
“Pfft, no promises.”
“You laugh and I take back the shirt…” Lex mutters under his breath. He doesn’t know how convincing he actually was but he had to at least try.
“Fine, fine. No laughing. Scouts honor.”
“Are you even a scout…?” Lex can’t recall any time Slade had made mention of it in any of his streams but that doesn’t mean he wasn’t in them and just didn’t reference it yet.
“You’re deflecting, aren’t you?” Slade smirks, flashing Lex a quick toothy grin in an attempt to woo the man even more. Trying to lure him into exposing what that little preplanned, hopefully flirtatious, line was.
“Alright, alright…I…I was going to try and be all confident and say something like ‘Oh, well since I buy so much of your merch, I thought it was time to give you some of mine’ And I was going to try and be all cool about it…” Lex can feel his cheeks once again rising in temperature as he exposes the secret.
“Huh…” Slade starts, burying just how much he loved the declaration before he dares utter another word. “That wasn’t even that bad…I don’t know why’d you be so embarrassed by that.”
Lex prepares to call Slade a damn liar but he stops when he feels the phone in his bag start vibrating before he hears his alarm go off and when he gets a notification on his smart watch. Similarly, Slade turns his head to the side to look back at his butt pocket before he reaches for his phone, his own alarm going off too.
“Shit! It’s already 5:30!?” “5:30, already?!” Dual utterances of disbelief break whatever moment these two were starting to have. Both men look up from their devices and attempt to excuse himself.
“I-I gotta get going! I can’t miss the panel preview debrief or these event staffers are gonna make my life hell this weekend!” Slade is already taking side steps to start heading towards the convention hall he has to book it down if he’s going to make this meeting in time but he can’t bring himself to leave Lex right away. “We cool, right?! You’ll hit me up after the panel or-fuck are you going that way too!?”
“I mean I was planning on it! I wanted to be already in the panel room before half-past to get a good seat!” Lex was following Slade’s no quiet committed retreating form as he spoke, pulling out a little convention center map with the room they need to get to already circled, just for another extra layer of preparedness.
Slade’s eye widens when he sees just how far they’ve got to run if they’re going to make it. With a heavy not so contemplative sigh, Slade grabs hold of Lex’s wrist once again before he looks down at the smaller man, flashing a determined smirk his way before he speaks.
“Come on then! We got ground to cover, Lexi!”
Lex doesn’t get a moment to process, let alone a second to answer before Slade has already taken off down the hall, tugging Lex behind him in a tight hold as they run. Lex wishes with all his heart that he had tried harder in PE during school but there is something magically about this…
Despite the full and crowded convention, the only person Lex can focus on is the one holding onto his hand as they run down the hall together. Slade’s bright white hair acting as a beacon as Lex chases after him. Every once in a while Slade turns his head back, just to make sure Lex is doing alright with the hurried pace that they’re running. Each time he does and he sees that Lex is good, Slade makes sure to give him a quick little smile before he turns back around to look out for any obstacle.
All seems well. All is going good. Until they actually get to the panel room. Slade lets go of Lex’s wrist and offers a quick goodbye before he goes over to find a member of the convention staff, hoping that his meager 6 minutes before panel is enough to suffice but he’s sadly mistaken.
Just as Lex goes to enter the panel room, he catches a glimpse of just how packed the room already is. Standing room only. His shoulders drop in annoyance and his eye twitches in aggravation before something else catches his eye. Off to the side still outside the main room, Slade is getting chewed out by not one member of staff but by three!
Every time Slade goes to speak he’s practically shouted down.
“Mr.Wilson, it doesn’t matter what you were doing! You were supposed to be in the green room by no later than 5:30! We can’t let you go on with the rest of the panel, each other member was already debriefed and we can’t allow you to go on without having been brought up to speed.”
“I-I get that I was late but it’s still before 6! I’m technically not late…late?” Slade tries his normal charm to no avail.
“Mr.Wilson, you have 3 minutes. You’re not going on this panel. Next time you’ll be sure to be EARLY to avoid such fiascos”
“I didn’t even know I had to do this debrief at 5:30 before I checked in at 5, it’s not fa-” Slade once again is scolded, this time flinching back slightly when he’s snapped at. The realization that he might have royally just fucked up a big step in his career slowly weighing down on him.
“Every other member of the panel was checked in by 3. The only member who wasn’t already in the green room by 5 was YOU! You’re lack of care isn’t our pr-”
“Please! Let me go on, I-” Slade’s dire plea is interrupted by a hail mary of a gamble.
“Excuse me.” In steps Lex. Shoulders back. Face stern and determined. And his demeanor a rather stark contrast to what Slade had interacted with previously. Slade turns to look back at Lex with a confused face while two of the three staff look suddenly scared and stiff, the third one just looking a bit confused. Especially when the other two change up their attitude so quickly.
“M-Mr. Luthor! W-we weren’t told you’d be attending this convention…A-are you-Were you added as a guest speaker or-”
“No.” Lex’s words are harsh, cutting off the stammering staffer as he fixes his glasses before continuing. “I was giving -D3ATH5TR0KE- here a new shirt. I hope this convention doesn’t look down on sponsors interacting with their talent…”
“Sp-sponsor?!” The most senior staffer stepping forward, quickly shuffling through some papers in their hands before they look back up at Lex in bewilderment. “We-We didn’t have confirmation that you-that you’re sponsoring Mr. Wil-”
“ -D3ATH5TR0KE-” It’s a sharp correction from Lex, one that has Slade standing up a bit straighter before he takes a small step backwards to stand closer to Lex. Lex gives Slade a quick smile, one that he hopes conveys that this is meant as a helpful gesture.
“That-That you’re sponsoring -D3ATH5TR0KE- …We-We weren’t aware…But it still…uhm…it’s still policy that he was supposed to be debriefed beforehand…”
“Well, I needed him to change into his new shirt before he went on. If you’re going to yell at anyone you can yell at me.” Lex changes his stance slightly, as if he’s daring the person to actually try and yell at him the way he’d been yelling at Slade. “If it’s still that important.”
The person looks at the other two, one who looks pretty much petrified and the other who just shrugs.
“Well…I-I suppose since he was with-”
“Good.” And with that, Lex turns his attention back to Slade while a quick smile. “Go on then. Enjoy the panel. We can talk more after, alright?”
Slade looks down at him with a wide eye and he gives a soft nod before he follows one of the staffers so that he can get to the stage properly.
Slade takes the second he has to quickly pull out his phone and send Lex a quick text message.
‘Are you really going to be my sponsor?’
Lex was hoping to get that message and he’s already typing out his reply.
‘I mean…You are already wearing my shirt…’
Slade doesn’t get a chance to respond before he gets on stage but he doesn’t need to. The poorly hidden wide grin and ever so slight blush dusting his cheeks are a good sign…but the real nail in the coffin is the stupidly excited smile he gives Lex when he finally sees him again when he takes his seat on the panel.
Lex’s hands fiddle gently with the black shirt in his fingers while Slade nervously rubs hands along the bright purple fabric at the hem of the shirt that has Lex’s brand on the front.
‘This might be worth it after all…’ Both men think in sync with the other.
Lex develops an obsession with Slade after he spies on him working out in the gym. +18 obvs.
TW: obsessive behavior and voyeurism
What defines an obsession? Is it when you have this overwhelming desire to obtain something…or someone? Or is it just an exaggeration of need? Might it just be a prelude to so much more?
Couldn’t it just be something genuinely sincere? Couldn’t it just be love that’s blossomed and bloomed at either an inopportune time or in an unwelcoming environment? An attraction that has all the hallmarks of true love? One that if nurtured and tended to would lose some more of the unsavory elements of its nature?
That could be the case. But that’s only if the obsession is allowed to breathe. Is said out loud so that the secret isn’t clouded with shame. Even it being whispered or falling on deaf ears is better than it being tucked so deep within a person that it turns from something borderline troublesome to something far worse.
Overpowering desperation morphs and evolves into something sick and twisted. What one might call love and devotion spirals into territory best not acted upon.
Lex isn’t normally self reflected and he isn’t about to start now. What he’s doing he wouldn’t dare utter out loud, even under duress but in his mind he’s well within his rights to do so. What happens within the walls of his office is his business and his alone. And what goes on in the rest of the building is also his business.
It started off innocently enough, if you can believe that. His eyes scan the monitor of his computer while he cycles through the cameras he has in the building, not looking for anything in particular. He’s not once ever paid too much attention to the cameras he has in the gym the security team uses to work out and train in. Not until recently.
Not until he saw a sight that suddenly made him have a keen interest in those cameras. The same sight that was the first spark that would go to ignite his new obsession. His new infatuation with a familiar foeish fiend that turned friendly enough— if you call a precarious partnership friendly.
Lex hadn’t meant to stare. Slade’s built frame looked as if it had been carved from marble in the tight black shirt that’s clinging to him. Even over the security feed Lex could see the slight reddening of Slade’s cheeks, his arm glistening with sweat as he brings a small towel to his forehead to wipe his brow. He stretches his arms lazily before he lifts a water bottle up, spraying just a little from the container onto his face as he shakes his head in an effort to cool down before once again wiping his face with the towel. Slade has no reason to believe anyone is watching him at that moment as he’s completely alone in the gym, that sense of privacy seemingly softening Slade’s normally abrasive and harsh self.
The way he tilts his head as he scrolls on his phone, the small smile Lex can safely say he’s never seen before, and the slightly goofy way Slade bobs his head along to whatever music he’s listening to in his earbuds as he walks to a different area in the gym.
Lex didn’t even realize his gaze was lingering until Slade walked out of camera view and he hurriedly clicked to the next camera to try and find him again. Though he’s glad he did when he catches Slade nonchalantly lifting his shirt and chucking it off to the side, the garment landing closeish to what Lex believes to be Slade’s workout bag.
Lex’s eyes widening and his cheeks quickly dusting with a light pinkish hue as he gets a personal show of Slade’s toned body. Lex continued to observe Slade as the man went about his workout, totally unaware that someone was watching his every move and memorizing every inch of the exposed flesh.
Gulping hard, Lex relaxes lightly into his chair as he watches his new favorite show. Every step Slade takes makes his heart skip a beat, each turn of his head and every unintentional toss of his hair creates a small ever growing pit in Lex’s stomach.
He doesn’t know how long he watches for, he lost track of that fact long ago, probably somewhere in between Slade taking off his shirt and when he stretched in such a way where Lex got an excellent view of the arch Slade’s back.
It can’t last forever and there is a part of him that’s glad it doesn’t. The now unignorable ache of his growing erection suddenly calling out for his attention. Lex doesn’t let himself think too hard about the fact that it was Slade that did this to him. He can’t bring himself to acknowledge such a heinous truth… so he doesn’t.
Lex resigns to finish himself off with his hand, his head turned to the side against the soft fabric of his office chair with his eyes squeezed shut. Soft gasps and pants spill from him, his hand slick with his own precum as he replays what he just saw over and over in his mind, but he makes sure to blur out Slade’s face the entire time. Chasing his high as his pace quickens, Lex bites his lip while he bucks his hips upwards in sync with his strokes, muffled moans still managing to fill the otherwise silent air in his office.
He wasn’t allowing himself to acknowledge the truth. The truth that it was Slade that got him so bothered. But he’s not able to lie to himself forever. As Lex’s rhythm slipped into an erratic pace, his mind clouded with lust as he replayed the best bits from the show Slade gave him. With each stroke he neared his end, every brush of his tip with his thumb threatened to send him over the edge.
Every memory of Slade’s exquisite body forced Lex closer to two things. His own climax and the truth. His chest heaves as he nears his orgasm, his pupils wide with sensual yearning as he hesitantly opens them. His eyes cast upwards to the ceiling, his mouth open as a bead of droll runs down his chin, and his cheeks are painted an embarrassingly deep shade of crimson.
He’s teetering on the edge longer than he'd like. His voice carries an obsequious nature as his pleading moans litter the room.
“Pl-please…please…”
Lex closes his eyes tightly as his mind fully succumbs to its worst thoughts. A loud cry echoes through the office as Lex arches his back, his legs shaking as he kicks his feet against the edge of his desk.
What did it? What sent him over the edge? Easy.
Slade.
The face Lex couldn’t stand just this morning. The man that pissed him off to no end at each possible turn. The person he’d only entered into his partnership with out of necessity.
The man who just became his new fixation.
Lex arches his back and cums into his own hand, his thick seed coats his trembling fingers as he works himself through the orgasm. His breathing coming out in heavy pants while his steadily works his way down from his high.
HIs mind slowly comes back to him as he tries to regain his senses. Lex hurriedly grabs some tissues from his desk to clean himself off, not daring to get up before he’s at least a little more presentable before he quickly tucks himself back into his pants and turns off the security camera feed.
Lex tries to move on. Tries to ignore what he just did but Slade is now burned into his mind. Lex throws himself into the work he wanted to get done today, toiling away as he desperately tries to outrun the nagging voice in the back of his mind. Minutes turn to hours and soon the sun that was high in the sky now rests off in the distance, warm orange hues cascading along the clouds that clutter the horizon as dusk nears.
That’s when the man of the hour appears.
Without knocking, Slade lets himself into Lex’s office to collect the acting CEO so they can leave. Slade is his bodyguard after all so it only makes sense. It’s getting late and Slade doesn’t want to be at work any longer than he has to.
“Yo, Luthor. Let’s fucking go. I’m starving.” Slade calls out to Lex with indignation and mild disrespect, the once grating voice now hitting Lex’s ears in a different way.
Lex’s head pops up quickly, his glasses askew on his face as he pulls his nose out of his work to look over at Slade. Praying his flushed cheeks don’t give him away, Lex sputters out a quick acknowledgement before he promptly scurries to pack up for the day.
Just like they do every day, the pair leaves the building together. And just like every day, Slade drops Lex off at his apartment before he takes himself home. Nothing new or out of the ordinary for the pair.
Slade doesn’t even notice, or at least he didn’t mention, the remnants of a blush that’s on Lex’s face. He didn’t seem to notice how wrinkled Lex’s shirt was. He doesn’t seem to pick up on all the little glances Lex was stealing the entire car ride home—he was on Slade’s right side so that probably helped.
Once he’s home, Lex finds himself replaying the events of the day. Trying to make heads or tails of what happened in his office.
“It-It was nothing. I was just a little too pent up is all…” Lex shakes his head to the side, trying to chase away the memories that tease and the desires that haunt him.
He tells himself that it doesn’t mean anything.
He’s a liar.
He tells himself it was a one time thing.
He’s a liar.
The next day Lex finds himself once again flipping through the security cameras. And once again his eyes find Slade. He isn’t alone this time but that surprisingly doesn’t bother—or dissuade— Lex’s watchful eyes.
Each sway in Slade’s step. Every strand of hair that falls out of place. Each time his lips part to laugh. Every time Slade lifts his shirt and typically hidden patch of flesh is exposed. In Lex’s mind—in his delusions—Slade’s doing it for him.
At first Lex tries to keep it normal—if that’s even possible. Only checking in on the cameras periodically, trying to convince himself that he’s not looking for a certain white-haired, one-eyed companion. He fails to keep himself sane while the idea of Slade slowly creeps and ensnares his every waking thought.
He falls into a predatory routine.
Come to work. Check in on Slade. Do some research and labwork. Check in on Slade. Have lunch. Watch Slade. Through the day, Lex ends up flipping through the cameras in search of Slade dozens of times.
After only two weeks, Lex has Slade’s gym routine memorized. He knows what time he goes. He knows what days Slade focuses on what workouts. He even learns that Slade color codes his gym clothes to what day of the week it is and cycles them out.
Each day this obsession slowly consumes him and Slade is none the wiser. The bodyguard has no idea that every second they’re apart his image haunts Lex’s thoughts.
Lex never acknowledges this. He doesn’t dare utter the fondness out loud. To say it is to make it true. To make it something real. To make it something he would have to deal with.
Desire never spoken.
Longing never natured soon spirals into a shameful obsession that only exists within the four walls of Lex’s office.
Here it is safe. Safe for eyes to linger. Safe to lust. Safe to wonder and dream. Safe to yearn.
Dark clouds block the sunlight of the day. The lights in Lex’s office dim as he flips through the security cameras in search of his muse. In search of the object of his affection.
In search of his Slade.
A low rumbling of thunder can be heard off in the distance as Lex’s impassioned eyes run up and down Slade’s body. He isn’t in the gym. Instead, he is in his private office and now Lex is really in for a show.
Leaned back in his chair, Slade is seen in full clarity to be masturbating at his desk. With one leg kicked up on the desk, Slade’s single eye is closed with his head tilted back, his tongue sneaking out to wet his lips before he lets out a small puff of air from his cheeks as he smiles to himself.
A low satisfied hum leaves Lex as he watches Slade, his elbows resting on his desk while his head rests against his palms. A charmed smile crosses Lex’s smitten face while Slade pleasures himself, unaware that his private moment is now a memory for two.
Unaware that his elbow hit the comm. button on the camera in Slade’s office, Lex utters a single line of praise that forever alters this unexplored relationship between the two men when Slade hears it from the camera's previously hidden position and intercom function.
Lex’s breathy needy voice is clear as day as it feeds directly into the room.
Ok here's another go at that Slex edit! I wanted to do one where *gasp* all my aspect ratios were the same and I learned how to do it lol. [I'm bad with editing have mercy]
