Carina hummed softly. “I think it’s poetic how they could find symbolism in the simplest of things.” The ingenuity of it kept her fascinated in the subject from a young age. She nodded and gave them a bright smile, a thought crossing her mind. “My mother’s hosting a garden party this weekend and put me in charge of the floral arrangement. Perhaps you can help me?”

“If only people could still do such a thing nowadays, right?” They were sure maybe some people could be quite poetic, but it seemed more and more illminded people were showing their faces everyday, but he still had to have hope. His eyebrows rose a bit at the suggestion, but after a split moment, he nodded and gave her a smile. “Sure, I’d love to. I’m always up for a little decorating, especially floral.”

Maybe Rita expected more of an answer from the Rowle, an answer that would make her feel like the pain she had gone through was necessary, either way, she found none as the witch dropped her gaze. The pain in her chest was only exasperated by her ex-fiance’s admission, as the conversation became uncomfortable at best. There was a time where she’d thought that would be impossible, that there would never be a time that things between them would never be anything but effortless. She tried to keep her composure, a nod here and there as she tried to be civil, but that all ended with her last admission. “Never wanted to -” she found herself sputtering as she tried to process it. “You left me. You didn’t break up with me, you left me. We weren’t just a fling or a one night stand… we were going to get married, and you just left like none of that mattered. I don’t know what you thought that was going to do to me, but it sure as hell hurt, Evie.”

Evie had been pushing this conversation off for so long, believing that it could only go south and make things worse. She wanted to be optimistic though, think that maybe if she finally got the apology out, it would heal something. She saw now that that was foolish, but how could she keep going like that when she had hurt Rita so much? However, even though she knew the truth, it didn’t stop the words from hurting as they came from her ex. Her jaw clenched for a moment as she tried to just keep quiet, but the time for being quiet was over.

“You think I wanted to do all of that, Rita? You think I wanted to just up and leave you?” She questioned, her eyes meeting the others. “I had to give up the only person I ever loved just so what, I could be happy? So I could finally be something more than a pathetic pawn in my fathers dark and twisted game?” Evie averted her gaze, she had to. Her voice was softer the next time she spoke. “Leaving you was the hardest decision I ever had to make, but I knew I couldn’t convince you to leave with me and I couldn’t stay apart of that life. It was tearing me apart. I had to make a decision, even if it was going to hurt.” Evie took in a deep breath so she could look back to Rita. “I don’t ever expect you to forgive me. I’ll never forgive myself for it. What I did was terrible. I ruined everything we had...” she paused for a moment before sighing, muttering. “For nothing.”

She didn’t feel any happier, her past was always eating away at her. The constant debate of whether she made the right decision, if she was really meant to be good. Or if her destiny was exactly what her father had planned out for her. “I loved you Rita, with all my heart. I know that doesn’t mean much now, if anything, but I really am sorry. For everything.”

persephone couldn’t help but giggle as she whisked her wand towards another wixen seated at the bar, their drink slowly disappearing from their cup entirely. “what?? it’s not like that person really needs anymore. i’m almost positive they were going to be cut off after this one anyways.” focusing her attention back on evie she added, “then i’m assuming you won’t be turning me in. i’ve been awfully bored the last few days, i needed a little excitement in my life.”

Evie couldn’t help but crack a smile, shrugging. “I see it as doing them a favor.” She stated before taking a sip of her own drink, her eyes narrowing at her friend. “Hm,” she hummed out before straightening up in her seat. “Let me think about that for just a second.” She pursed her lips for a moment as if thinking before letting out a huff. “You’re lucky you’re you, Seph. Anyone else and I’d most definitely have to turn you in.” She teased.

Evie’s eyes averted from what she had been doing to look at her friend, raising an eyebrow with a shrug. “Probably not.” She stated before a small smirk slipped onto her lips. “Good thing I don’t. Surely you know that. Besides, it’s not like anyone is going to get hurt or anything. Everything will be just fine.” She assured, though she was only sure about that first part. 

Growing up, Evie had always told herself that she would never fall in love, it was something that only weak-minded people could possibly do. Her goal in life was to become a top death eater, not start dating, get married and settle down. It was never in her interest, and she swore it would never happen. However, there were many things younger Evie could never believe have happened up to now.  Evie had become closer with some of the death eaters since graduating from Hogwarts, especially now that she didn’t have classes and such to worry about. However, after some events took place, she decided to make a hard decision and take a break from magic to travel to Sweden. While she thought the trip would be short and she didn’t have much faith in herself to last the couple weeks she had planned, she was so far from right. Not only did the trip last much longer than a couple weeks, it opened her mind about many things.  Returning home from Sweden, Evie felt different, she felt more relaxed and it changed many ideas for her. It was slow change, but she allowed herself to be more open about her feelings, about a lot of things. It was weird, getting back into the swing of things of being a death eater, meeting back up with the friends she had met before her trip. That, and the new issue that arose, an old face she felt like she hadn't seen in years.   Being close in age, the two were paired up a lot, though she was sure it was only because Evie’s father didn’t know of her secret quite yet. If he had, he would have tried having a say in the people Evie was paired with, though if he knew, she would have probably been disowned by him first. With a new open mind, and the time Evie was spending with her, she caught herself having feelings, ones she had once refused to let catch her off guard. At first, Evie was clueless as to what was happening, but it didn’t take her long to finally catch on. She was falling for her. It was planted in her mind to just push the feelings away, pretend they didn’t exist and soon, they wouldn’t. However, she didn’t allow that this time, she didn’t want to slowly slip back into her old emotionless self. Though, don’t believe she came out and said it just like that. She’d only been back from Spain for a few weeks, whose to say this wasn’t just her missing old times? Evie never let her feelings for her die, in fact, she could feel them growing stronger over short periods of time. It was risky though, to try and come out and say it, not only because she was for once scared of rejection, but because she was afraid of what it could mean. If the other death eaters found out? If her father found out? Then that’s when it hit her, all this time, all through her teen years, she had been telling herself falling in love was for the weak, when really it wasn’t. Hiding her feelings, letting it all consume her, that’s what made her feel weak. Finally, she came out and admitted her feelings. After all the time the two had spent together recently, she did finally say it. Then it happened, what Evie thought would turn into a nightmare, actually turned into some of the best moments of her life. It felt so unreal, much like a dream, when she had learned the feelings were returned.  Evie had never really knew was love was, it was foreign to her, but every moment the two spent together as a couple, She realized, This was love.
