âOh Sev, donât you go trying to sweet talk me, too,â she teased, lifting an eyebrow. âBut I canât say I disagree. I mean, the crowds I donât mind. Itâs just⌠the people in them. Iâd rather be in a ballgown with a champagne in my hands if I really had to be surrounded by so many people.â A wistful sigh. She missed those balls already. Being spun around all night, passed between conversations with impossibly important people. She handed her friend the treat, smiling as he took it. âI donât really know why I asked,â she teased. Perhaps she was still unlearning the niceties of her life that summer. The expectation that she seem less than herself. More ignorant. More naive. Less observant.Â
She shook off the odd moment of reminiscence, sliding her arm through Severusâ before walking forward. âTell me, what would amuse you Severus?âÂ

Severus would definitely not prefer a ball with champagne, but there were certain aspects of his associatesâ lives that he had very little patience for, growing up the way he did at Spinnerâs End. Not that he would ever let his distaste for the events show amongst his Pureblood colleagues. (Only friends like Narcissa knew his true feelings.)
"You know my singular weakness is chocolate, Narcissa,â Severus said, taking a bite out of the little cauldron. âIts shape is, perhaps, a little clichĂŠ. But it will do.â (He thought she probably knew that, despite his words, he actually rather enjoyed the fact that it was a cauldron.)
He guided her toward the booths lining the main street. âI suppose there must be something here that would suffice. I believe I remember an antiques dealer that set up shop last year. Letâs see if we can find them again.â
