thought about this because it's so frustrating when people argue that 'dying in childbirth' is a historical sort of event that doesn't happen nowadays (false) and therefore is irrelevant to the legal status of abortion, since it's not a real danger.

except it super is, and i think a lot of people haven't noticed that this argument in addition to simply being incorrect is basically the same as when people say we don't need vaccines for deadly diseases because no one gets those now anyway.

it forgets that the christian cosmology was the setting, told through corporate satire, not the villain. even God wasn’t an active tyrant; she was an absent CEO, leaving individual contributors like Aziraphale and Crowley to realize their job descriptions were irrelevant to the company's bottom line anyway, so they coasted by on minimum effort

The book ended with the head offices returning to indifference after a short bout of confusion and trying to assert themselves in the moment. Them ultimately keeping the status quo as if nothing ever happened and just returing back to business as usual including keeping their agents as they were was part of the joke.

Don't get me wrong, the ending of S1 still works with the joke IF we would have never gotten S3, Heck even S2 to an extent. And I have been saying this for quite a while .
