there's many characters i like in worm, many of whom im gonna be thinking about for a long time
but if i had to pick a favourite character? earlier on i would've said taylor, or bonesaw, and i still really really like both. part of me will always like dragon the most of all i think
she's just. such a good character. she's weird and abrasive and hard to get along with and she stays that way because these aren't flaws, just traits. and the story looks at all of these traits that make her a feared outcast to normal society and a menace to the people around her and then tells you to love her. not as who she could be. love her as who she is. on her own terms. get to know her. trust her.
rachel doesn't ever learn to "behave normally", she couldn't learn it even if she wanted to, which she doesn't, and that's fine. she doesn't understand normal human interactions, but that doesn't mean she's stupid, or doesn't care. she gets rightfully pissed when people babytalk her. she loved taylor so much, and mourns her in the only way she knows how. by moving on and keeping busy. and remembering her.
she starts out as a hard to deal with illiterate feral teenager who understands dogs better than people
and at the end, that description still applies
not because she didn't have any character development. she changed so much! but that doesn't change who she is. she's still rachel, abrasive parts and all
