"An archetypal tweed jacket has been fused on the front with leather, encasing its details, with the excess leather left raw edged. Underneath, a jersey sweater has been slashed down the centre, then fastened with buttons, with a second skin jersey top beneath. The leather trousers, as if patchworked from different leather trousers, are bonded with tailored trousers just at the waistband. "This Artisanal dress was inspired by an original Edwardian mourning gown, the top recreated, with extra smocking and pintuck details, while the skirt was cut with the volume seen in Look 5. The entire dress was then dipped in beeswax, with extra hand-painting with beeswax to define the ruching and pleats, as well as the memory of the now-removed crinoline. There’s an integral corset, plus a bustier with visible lacing, with a total make time of 220 hours." — Maison Margiela
