Abquest-The Skunja

Agang “abquest” Mkwananzi is a hip hop artist from Bulawayo, Zimbabwe who is well on his way to being the game changer in the genre. An intriguing hardcore voice that cuts through thumping beats sets him apart from the masses.  His sound is a combination of authentic elements that carry the abstract lyrical content and blends his flow smoothly to create a fresh musical taste.

The leading single, ‘Skunjanja’, (a Bulawayo street term that defines a well-respected male in the townships) is a vivid description of a typical day in his home town and it exhibits the rapper’s creativity as an artist. The single is the first release off the upcoming EP, “Ginger Biscuits” that is set to be released in June, 2016. He is also working on a joint mixtape with “Young Stan”, a talented rapper and producer who is making waves in the Zimbabwean hip hop scenes.

Ambush Entertainment and Backroom Music has played a key role in the development of Abquest’s career since signing him in 2013. POY, a Zimbabwean multi award winning rap artist, signed Abquest to his management and marketing label after seeing the young rapper perform at a club. Since then, Abquest has been an opening act for POY at the Bigger Than Hip Hop shows that rotated around the city and these shows exposed him to bigger crowds that helped him gain performing experience. Backroom Music has been handling the production of Abquest’s music since he was signed by Ambush Entertainment.
