Haven't been on here for a long time. Spoons have been so low. Not sure if I'm going to be able to keep a blog at this time.
Anxiety: *banging pots and pans and screaming*
Depression: everything is terrible and nobody loves you!!!
Chronic illnesses: your whole body is on fire and you can't use your hands for the next few hours ;p
Me: thanks love you guys too
22 Things Movies Get Completely Wrong About Mental Illness
Cracked doing the Lord’s work and shedding light on ableism and inaccuracy.
You give much knowledge about something like this, so I feel safest asking you. How do I know for certain that I'm Genderfluid? I'm not quite sure what I am and I'm very confused and a bit scared (for lack of better words).
It’s ok to be scared! AND, there is nothing to be scared about here. You don’t owe an explanation to anyone about who and how you are. If you are unsure for the rest of your life, that’s totally fine. I realize you probably want to be sure so that you can feel safe and grounded, but what I would shoot for is learning how to feel safe and grounded *while* you are unsure. That way, no matter what happens, you can react with compassion and love for yourself.
How do you get ok with being unsure? Well, [get my book, but also] practice it. Practice going to scary places and coming back again. Switch the focus from “am I genderfluid?” to “how can I love and accept myself no matter what I am.”
Please! Take very good care (and don’t worry so much about your label right now.)💛💛💛💛

When you have a depressive breakdown and no one is there to comfort you
maybe instead of walking a mile in someone elses shoes we should just believe that they walked that mile in the first place
think how much time we could save everyone if we didnt doubt the steps others have taken, just because we didnt experience it first-hand
*googles if this is a stencil she can download =^.^=
I want this on my door
Highlight of the day:
Manic client, to me: “YOU DESERVE SUSHI!!!!”
Gee I wish I had been that nice when I was manic. I was an asshole haha.

I never expected to be diagnosed with OCD & dermatillomania, but now my entire existence makes sense lol.
during a hypo/manic episode, is it normal for the mania stuff to take an hour or two to start after waking up? or is it comparable to being drunk where it's constant even right after you wake up?
Bipolar episodes present so many different ways. Bipolar I and II follow a pretty predictable pattern, but symptoms and their durations are less clear as you look at other parts of the spectrum. I do have clients who experience an hour or two of depression in the morning and are hypomanic for the rest of the day. I have clients who stay up all night with pretty severe hypomanic symptoms and then seem stable during the day. After a client has been officially diagnosed I typically tell them to not worry about whether their bipolar is “normal”. Everyone’s brain is unique. We focus on their experience and work on a holistic recovery plan that is best suited to them.
Ahh I get so proud of my clients I just want to cry tears of joy 😂 It's so hard not to start crying in a session sometimes lol.
mental illness in a nutshell
literally anyone: are you ok?
me: you mean like your standards ok or my standards ok
preach
I hope he learned

FUCK YOU, 2016
Season Finale of LAST WEEK TONIGHT w/ John Oliver
AMEN
I’m in my psychiatrist’s office and in the waiting room there is a magazine cover advertising a story about security in the post-911 era with the phrase “ARE WE ANY SAFER?” in big bold letters. Seems to be a not so great thing to have in a psychiatry clinic.
