Infinity and Beyond

 I read the book while the movie was being produced. And then, a few weeks after reading the book, I found the trailer of the movie on youtube. It was…….I don’t know, man, it looks better than the book. Moreover, the guy who played Augustus Waters in the movie is Ansel Elgort, my biggest celebrity crush at that time (until now). I know that Ansel isn’t really that good looking, but I mean, if you read the book, you will certainly expect someone who is a little bit cooler than Ansel Elgort, right?. But what can I say? The first time he popped up on the screen when I watched the movie, you just knew that he’s the right Augustus Waters. His charm, his smile, his….oh my, perfection. I could hear all the girls in the theater at that time whispering about how perfect Augustus Waters is. And Isaac too.

And then the movie went on. The story is not exactly the same with the book but it’s not a big deal for me because the first rule on film adaptation for me is : Don’t miss the important details. But, wait, it actually misses one important detail, oops.

In the movie, there’s no Augustus’s ex-girlfriend who died and being the reason of his oblivion fear. Which is totally not okay, but still forgivable. Ansel and Shailene are just so cute in the movie and my disappointment about Gus’s ex, bam!, disappear.

Doesn’t mean to brag or anything but when I watched the movie, I just happened to remember almost all the words and it kinda annoyed me actually. Perhaps, this is the weakness of film adaptation, I ALREADY KNOW THE STORY, DUDE! Make some great twists so I will start to cry over it! (like what they did in breaking dawn part 2 which is totally, AWESOME).

I don’t want to be a spoiler so I’ll just tell you that the movie kept going and I really enjoy it. Seeing Gus and Hazel falling in love with each other is just…so…romantic? And heartbreaking at the same time because I haven’t found my Augustus Waters yet which is obviously sad.

But then, the sad part comes, and it’s just….I don’t have it in me to cry while I already expected a lot of crying. Maybe it was because of my friend who kept looking at me and expecting me to cry and I tried to hold it, but no. It’s not the best reason. I think if the movie is really heartbreaking I will cry no matter what. Which means, the movie fails on breaking my heart just like the book. I don’t know what makes me not crying and I still think about it a lot. Maybe it was all because I already expected Gus’s death since the beginning? (oops, spoil). Or it was all because the story is actually not that good?. No, I know that the story is really good because, who else can combines sadness with some stupid jokes and funny moments in a really good way like what John Green did?.

All I wanna say is that The Fault in Our Stars is not really that sad, or it’s just my heart that already turns into a stone. After a long consideration, I know that the answer is that the thing that makes me sad is different with normal people. I didn’t cry over TFIOS and The Notebook, but I cried a lot over 500 Days of Summer and No Strings Attached. Like, seriously, those movies are sad too but there’s just something wrong with my movie taste.

It doesn’t mean that I don’t want to watch the movie again by the way. It’s just…..who wants to miss the opportunity of seeing Ansel Elgort on the big screen for two hours?. He only got a little role in Divergent and I was just too scared to watch Carrie in the cinema, it’s a really good chance for me and Anselites all over the world of course.  

I'm a big fan of One Direction since 2012, and I swear I've been through a lot of shitty comments from other fans yg menganggap gue isn't real enough to be their fans hanya karena gue telat ngefans. Haters gonna hate lah pokoknya yg jelas I've sticked up with this fandom for two and a half years and nothing can stop me. Banyak temen2 gue yg dulu sih ngakunya ngefans banget sama pacar2 gue ini, tapi toh nyatanya they left this fandom bahkan ketika cita2 terbesar gue dan mereka pada saat itu, nonton konser One Direction, belum terwujud. Bu at the end, siapa yang sekarang cita2nya hampir terwujud? Thank God it's me hehe.

  Ketika mendengar kabar tentang penjualan tiket dsb, of course gue langsung excited parah dong. Walaupun tadinya gue sempet mikir, tanggal konsernya tuh kira2 bakal bentrok sama ujian2 gue di kelas 12. But I think that's ok karena kalo gue gak nonton ada jg gue malah stres pas ujian. Setelah banyak diskusi dengan teman2 dekat yg nyupport gue banget buat nonton dan orangtua terutama yg akhirnya mengikhlaskan sedikit uangnya (it's a big amount of money for me but not for them) untuk gue pinjem beli tiket, gue. fix. bakal. beli. tiket. offline.

  Waktu itu nunggu tanggal 31 Mei tuh berasa bertahun2. Maksud hati nyari temen buat nonton konser dan beli tiket, eeh malah pada nitip tiket ke gue. Akhirnya tanggal yg gue tunggu2 dateng juga. Berangkatlah gue dan temen gue ke Kota Kasablanka demi mendapatkan 5 tiket festival A dan 2 tiket festival C (walaupun akhirnya gue dan temen gue malah pindah ke fest B karena misscom dengan temen gue yg lain). Antrian begitu gue dateng, beeh....parah.

  Gue ngantri di area parkir kokas itu dari jam 7 pagi sampe sekitar jam 11an. Dan dengan bejatnya, penjualan tiket konser dibatalkan karena (ini gosip yg gue dapat waktu masih dalam antrian) promotornya ditangkap polisi. WTF???.

  Jelas, gue marah dan kesel bgt saat itu. Impian gue yg gue pikir tadinya udah di depan mata ilang gitu aja. Dan lagian gila aja, promotor konser ini tuh promotor besar yang udah ngadain konser2 yg gak kalah besar sm OTRA ini. Yakali si promotor nipu. Akhirnya karena kesel+capek dan belum sarapan, gue dan temen gue makan di salah satu restoran sambil maki2in promotor kampret (yg nyatanya baik hati at the end of my story hehe). Hal lain yg gue tau adalah, ada salah satu temen gue yg ternyata udah masuk ke ballroom dan dapet tiket. Loh.

  Selesai makan, gue sm temen gue langsung dateng ke ballroom and guess what? udah ada sekitar 100an lebih directioners disana yg teriak2 minta dikasih masuk ke ballroom dan beli tiket. Ikut2an lah gue (budaya orang indonesia yg  juga melekat di gue) dan temen gue neriak2in promotor sm directioners2 lain. Setelah diskusi alot dengan pihak promotor yang saat itu gue cuma bisa nangkep teriakan dari directioners, promotor nyerah kali ya terus balik ke ballroom. Makin menjadi2lah kita semua. Tapi daripada neriakin promotor dgn gadanta, kita mulai nyanyiin lagu2 One Direction and in that moment, gue langsung ngerasa bahagia banget jadi directioners. Directioners itu solid, ga pantang nyerah. Pendapat gue yg tadinya directioners indonesia itu isinya cuma carrots doang langsung berubah. At least yg gue tau,directioners yg ada di depan eskalator menuju ballroom saat itu adalah directioners yg real, very dedicated, dan sayang bgt sm the boys dan bakal ngorbanin banyak hal demi bisa ketemu mereka. Dan akhirnya, just like what I said, our promotor itu baik bgt dan kita diizinin masuk ke ballroom! yeah!.

  Ketika pintu eskalator menuju ballroom dibuka, astaghirullahaladzim, rasanya i could be just dead at that time. Bener2 gencet2an dan itu di eskalator loh. Temen gue kehilangan powerbank bahkan saat itu. Tapi kita berhasil melewati semua itu dan diizinin masuk ke ballroom walaupun cuma buat booking tiket (penjualan tiket udah dilarang). We finally got the booking code jam setengah 7 malam! Yeah! 12 jam!.

  To clarify things about the promotor, jadi alasan antrian di area parkir itu dibubarin adalah karena menurut promotor dan polisi antriannya itu udh over capacity, bukan gara2 mereka gak punya izin ngadain acara hari itu. Masalah ada yg dibawa ke kantor polisi, katanya sih itu orang kokasnya yg mencoba nipu, hii. Langsung merasa bersalah bgt gaksih ngehina2 promotor yg notabene bakal mewujudkan mimpi kita ketemu One Direction, hahaha. Yang jelas, that was one of the most adventurous day ever and i already got the ticket to see my boyfriends!!! <3
