Abigail comes from a very loving and happy family. The youngest of three kids, she received no shortage of love from her parents. And while her older brother was six years older than her, they had a pretty good relationship too. By the time she was old enough to really bond with him, he was out of the house so they never had to deal with the struggles of sharing a space and tween/teen angst altering their relationship.
Abbyâs relationship with her older sister Cree was a very different story. When they were younger they were extremely close, and Abby even looked up to her sister -- although she refrains from admitting it. They would watch TV and listen to music together, and Cree would even go out of her way to play sports with Abby once she realized her baby sister had an interest in it. Then, almost out of nowhere their dynamic change and Cree suddenly had very little time or patience for her baby sister.Â
Cree was suddenly only interested in boys, clothes and hanging out with her other equally lame teenager friends. Cree had less interest in playing basketball with her sister in the backyard, and more interest in trying to get Abby to try the new lipgloss she bought. Her sister had become a stranger right before her very eyes and she was devastated by the change of pace. Youâd never tell though, Abby played it off like she had no cares in the world.
Looking back at it now, Abby realizes that itâs pretty common to go through those kinds of tensions with your older sister. But it still doesnât mean sheâs gonnaâ just forgive and forget all the hurtful things Cree said when they would fight. Or the fact that Cree just completely turned her back on Abby and all the things she thought they had in common.Â
What kept Abbyâs spirits up during that really confusing time with her sister was having her friend group. When things would get to be too much at home and Abby couldnât take the arguing anymore, sheâd run off to Hoagieâs tree house. It felt nice to be so unconditionally accepted by a group people despite how very different they all were.Â
Abby canât tell you how she managed to find herself in a group where she was the only one with any common sense sometimes, but itâs fine. She accepts them for who they are and is ready and willing to keep them in check when theyâre all being a bit too much. But for the most part, she goes along with whatever hijinks comes up because itâs always a good time no matter what theyâre up to.Â
Excelled in school. She was an honor student and was very proud of the fact. Sheâs also filled to the brim with little random facts and tidbits on various different topics. Ask her to name every name signed on the declaration of independence and she can, with ease. Just please donât ask her where was it signed because if Hoagie runs in and yells âthe bottomâ sheâll riot.Â
Took karate and jujitsu lessons when she was younger. Playing ninja with Cree when they were younger was always one of her favorite things, and Cree always beat her when they were little. She was older, wiser and better, and Abby always accepted that. So, when Cree started taking lessons when she was ten, Abby followed suit. Cree excelled and almost made it to black belt, but she dropped out in pursuit of other, âmore matureâ things to try. Abby stuck with it though and pushed until she mastered all that one could learn at a strip mall dojo.
Abby participated in almost all sports related extracurriculars. She felt most at peace running track, and was the star of that team. But she also played volleyball, softball and basketball. Her parents often joked that she should have pursued track on an Olympic level but she was never that good, she thinks. Parents just always say things to hype you up, you know? Sheâd never admit that she did humor the idea once or twice when she was still unsure of what she wanted to do and who she wanted to be when she eventually got older.Â
Abby still runs track in college, and is even on the girlsâ basketball team still too. No matter how busy she gets with school and work, she canât imagine not having sports in her life.Â
Sheâs very big on personal space. Her room is her sanctuary and as much as she loves her friends, she will fight them if they go into her room without permission. Sheâs decked it out real nice. Sheâs got a little music station (and a very particular organizational method for her vinyl collection), her candy stash, and even a little disco ball in her room. She had to compromise on the pool table cause there wasnât enough space but itâs fine. Sheâs not mad. (She is.)
LOVES LOVES LOVES MUSIC. She will vibe to just about anything but her heart lives with disco, funk and R&B. Would spend a disgusting amount of money to watch Doja Cat sing Say So fifty times. She doesnât have to sing anything else, just keep doing Say So.Â
Deciding to go into politics was pretty easy. Her entire life had been rebellion and fighting. Adults were bossy nightmares, teenagers were grouchy and mean, and society kept trying to force her into a dress because her preferring basketball shorts was bewildering to them. Abby reached a point in her life where all she knew was the need to fight for her right to be herself, so why not take that fight to the streets. And hopefully, one day an elected office.
For a really long time Abby had little to no interest in boys. Even when she hit puberty and it was expected for her to start swooning over them, she hardly seemed phased. Her father, very clumsily but adorably, spent a lot of time trying to make sure she knew she lived in a safe place and they would still love her if she was a lesbian. Abby had to let him know multiple times that she was not, but when she realized she was bisexual it was no problem coming out. She just always had very high standards for the men that would catch her eye, and felt most at ease in pants and suits than dresses.Â
She works at Spoonful of Sugar. Itâs no secret to any of her friendâs that she has a serious sweet tooth, so working at a candy store was a âno duhâ situation to her. She really likes it there and the owner is always giving away free stuff which definitely goes to Abbyâs not so secret candy stash. Yeah, she still has a candy stash in her room, and no you canât have any.
exes, flings, sports buddies!!! anything really. the usual shit, letâs be real lol
