SHOW PREVIEW: Dirty Projectors

Despite releasing a self-titled album and the EP Cool Your Heart (Remixes) in 2017, Dirty Projectors did not go on tour. Early this March, they announced a summer 2018 tour that traverses North America, Europe, and Japan. The band announced the full set of dates through Instagram videos that hint at the title of a new work, “Lamplit Prose.” This tour will be Dirty Projectors’ first in five years. Following the departure of Amber Coffman, band members Dave Longstreth, Nat Baldwin, and Mike Johnson will be joined by new members Felicia Douglass (percussion, vocals), Maia Friedman (guitar, vocals) and Kristin Slipp (keyboards, vocals).

The indie rock band knows how to lay down some poppy, new wave tracks with contemporary R&B influences. Since their 2012 album, Swing Lo Magellan, Dirty Projectors have worked alongside Rihanna, Kanye West, and Solange. Adding to a long list of collaborators, the 2017 EP featured Equiknoxx, Dre Skull, Black Panther composer Ludwig Göransson, among others.
