One of the things I'm most excited about next season is Mack as captain he'll have to take on a much more important role with the team and the community: hosting events, attending fundraisers, charity things, meeting people, etc. I can see him embracing that side of the job. That boy is a Crosby fan, and he already got a small taste of what being a captain is like at Worlds. It feels like the kind of responsibility he'd genuinely enjoy rather than just see as an obligation. (and probably dragging along social-butterfly-WSH for moral support)

unfortunately that’s just hockey culture in general. have you read we breed lions? look up the trigger warnings because it can be very dark, it focuses on the dark side of canadian junior hockey which isn’t much better and involves horrific abuses of power by older players and coaches and staff and the environment that breeds

i don’t have any links but i’m sure you can ask around for them but i remember in an interview Will said how during his ntdp days he would say how wanted to get out of there but that he would do it all over again. also his team who were mostly 16 years old had to earn their locker room privileges so for a month or so they would force them to change out in the hallways. also i don’t think most people know this but actually ntdp teaches their players how to avoid hits so that’s probably one thing Will has to unlearn.

I've heard a lot about the NTDP being super intense and quite toxic. Has Will ever spoken about what his experience was like? Do we know anything about his time there?

The whole program seems built around making players harder and more physical. Since Will's never been that kind of player and has always had that whimsical side to him, I wonder how he fit into it. I just hope nobody looked at his personality and decided it needed to be "fixed."
