Hi and sorry for late answer. I usually first paint one layer with the color that will shine throug and let dry. After that I paint the color that will be torned and while it has not set I use a piece if damp cloth to gently rub the paint off so that the first layer appears. Look at example pictures so you see where specific furnitures usually are torn or distressed. Final thin layer I use different shades of dusty/dirty colors and let them drip or stain or flow over the furniture and just gently work away any excessive color with a piece of cloth. To highlighten areas just use a slightly lighter shade and with a fingertip or sponge just "touch", just a thin thin layer on the ares that need light. I use sandpaper or nail equipments to make tiny scratches and such. With cloth furnitures its almost the same. This is no expert tips so one simply try methods out and go for whatever works for you. Try on a similar material first, if you ate not sure. The beauty with distresding is that it can suddenly lead you somewhere you did't exopect and that is also ok, that is something new 😊👍 Good luck /edde @abandoneddollhouse
