riley and jax are so darry and ponyboy to me

just finished rereading the inquisitors mark and i have a new appreciation for smitty that i never previously had because that man cannot sit still he literally me

detail i never noticed before in the inquisitors mark is how much dorian implicitly sides with his family and their values while consciously opposing them. boy has so much unlearning to do but its ok i love him

thinking about how riley was thrown into being the one in control, THE voice of command, so young. how he internalized it and became so used to having this sense of being the leader that he projects that onto his relationship with evangeline throughout the books and ends up pissing her off. thinking about the fight at the end of book 2 with evangeline having to counteract all of rileys commands against jax, and him taking addies letter, and not telling evangeline about info. hes put so much pressure on himself to be the one in control that he doesnt realize how its harming him.

jax is one of those just weirdly flexible people who can twist their body in creepy ways. bro belongs in the circus

i’ve made up a lot of stuff about the eighth day in my head over the year it’s been my obsession but one of my favourites has to be the addie x lesley ship because they never even interact. they’re never even in the same room as themselves. but in my mind they fall in love in their late teens and jax is both their biggest hater and biggest supporter

jax has a tiktok account dedicated to posting embarrassing things about riley and addie and posting nothing but praise for evangeline. addie knew about the account right away and had been trying to steal jax’s phone to delete it since it was created, riley didn’t find out until AJ showed him a video and he yelled at jax for like three hours

i hc that one of the reasons riley took a few weeks to get jax from naomi’s is because riley was still 17 and had to wait to turn 18

jax would constantly use dumb internet slang in everyday conversation and riley never knows what the fuck he’s talking about and jax uses that to purposefully antagonize him

one of my hcs is that right after the events of the story evangeline is a light sleeper but once she starts to chill and let her guard down she sleeps like the absolute dead. like you could drop an atomic bomb next to her and she’d never wake up. riley on the other hand stays the worlds lightest sleeper. he wakes up when jax coughs in his own room across the hall. he wakes up to the sound of the front door opening on the floor below. he wakes up when a neighbour drops something in the house next door. but it’s perfect cause jax gets night terrors and riley wakes up to his whining before jax starts screaming and crying and he wakes jax up then sits with him until he falls back asleep
