I just realized, though. I *know* Seph said that “the man I recognize is different from the man you recognize” and all that sorta cryptic shit.

The thing is I don’t think a single one of us knows *anything* about Varley.

After all, when I tried to investigate by opening up the wiki page I felt a cold rush of blood as soon as I did, which I’m sure we can all pinpoint the source of.

But, that’s just it. We know *nothing*.

And you know, alters are, logically, limited to the knowledge that our physical brain has consumed and retained. And it hasn’t read anything about that man. And, any attempt to try and gain that information has been thwarted by cold feet and fleeting nerves.

Seph is literally, suffering from a lack of something that he has no idea about and will never, ever be able to remember.

All he knows is the feeling is there.

So, my proposal is to, somehow, engage him in a conversation while subtly informing him of the facts. Then, at least, the gaping hole in his chest won’t be so ambiguously shaped.

It took him a bit over an hour, but after that bit, he started to perk up, engage in conversation a little more, I could feel a bit of his energy return.

I know that strong, brave knight is in there. It’s a part of him that wants to come back.

But he NEEDS people to talk to.

The conversation and engagement is what brings him back around.

There’s no two ways about it.
