“convincing,” sky snorted as aaliyah tepidly agreed with him, feeling as though there might be a lack of genuine enthusiasm. “you good?” he wondered with a lifted brow, playfully knocking his shoulder against hers as they walked. “i’m sensin’ a little…” sky gestured to aaliyah’s person with an uncertain expression. “…weirdness,” he finally decided, pulling a face at his own choice of words.

“yeah, i’m good, i guess,” aaliyah said with a shrug. she gave him a small half smile as their shoulders bumped. “it’s just...sometimes i still feel in the shadows because i’m kind of marketed as the mysterious one,” she explained. “i mean part of that is my fault, because i don’t want everyone to know...you know.” she gestured to let him know she was talking about her name and father. “but like being in the shadows is one of the reasons i’m like this, you know?”

  ❝ oh, what do you play ? ❞ he asks, a little stilted but still polite. he wonders if the other knows how close he was to revealing his distaste for the lead singer. 

   ❝ better now — ❞ his face does something at the memory of his run in with their lead singer, sweets mori.  ❝ — are you a diehard fan or something ? ❞

sky can never really tell if those more neglectful fans aaliyah mentioned genuinely mistake better now for being a solo act or if they just don’t care about anyone else in the band and he’s never put much effort into finding out. “well, with all the work you and i have put into the…” he leaned closer, voice softening to a playful stage whisper. “…new album…” and back to normal. “…along with sweets, i imagine it’ll be difficult to ignore us for too much longer, hm?”

aaliyah really appreciated all of the fans of better now but it could get exhausting to be in a band where there was obviously a fan favorite. she didn’t resent sweets at all, because it wasn’t sweets’ fault but she did sometimes feel a little looked over sometimes. like she was in the shadows, a way that she had grown up feeling. “yeah, they really can’t ignore us after this one,” she said with a laugh.

  ❝ you have a lot of vinyls then ? ❞ simon asks.

“if you know how to pick battles, the first thing out of your mouth isn’t some weak ass threat. do better. i’d rather ooze entitlement than sport the stench of a fucking gutter rat.” vienna rolled her eyes. slipping her sunglasses back onto her face, vienna didn’t care much for what the other had to say. yeah, she was rude. yeah, she was entitled. in all honestly, she didn’t care at all. “you do that. not all of us can engage in jobless activities.” vienna commented as she bumped past the other and practically strutted towards the door.

“no, you’re just a pussy. don’t make threats and then say you don’t wanna play into a stereotype when you just fucking did. dumb bitch.” vienna’s eyes cut at the girl as she spat her words at her. she didn’t come to pick a fight, but vienna’s temper always got the best of her. vi knew better than cause a scene, but who would she be if she didn’t.
