yakumo is noticeably depressed and miserable, and blade and garu try to cheer him up by acting like eiden but.. they miss eiden just as much. they all have a little cry together 🥺🥺

when olivine visits the city/market, both edmond and dante rush towards the crowd of people gathering around him, hoping it’s eiden attracting all the attention, and they’re very clearly disappointed when they find out it’s olivine instead.

rei, who’s also in the city at the time is also hopeful to see eiden again, but he hangs back and observes like he usually does. father calls him out for missing eiden, and he doesn’t disagree.

quincy leaves a note for eiden on his door every time he goes out on patrol, and topper leaves carvings on nearby trees. kuya notes quincy looks disappointed every time he comes home and has to remove the note from the door 🥺🥺🥺

and speaking of kuya, he’s being cranky and bitchy, because.. well, obvious reasons, so he makes fun of quincy for leaving notes. quincy points out he’s leaving essence barriers around the forest so he can automatically detect when eiden comes back, and kuya just gets even more pissed off at him. i wouldn’t be surprised if they got into another fight tbh

when aster and morvay hear that eiden’s coming back they invite everyone to the mansion for a huge welcome back party. they had each other to lean on in eiden’s absence, of course, but it’s very clear they missed him dearly.

i want.. a polyclan fic where everyone just smothers eiden in love. reassures him in their own ways that they love him, that they respect him, that they’re here for him, that they’re appreciative of everything he does for them, that they’re aware of everything he does for them.

like.. does eiden know that he’s allowed to confide in his clan, tell them his deepest, darkest secrets and not have to worry about being judged?? does he know he’s allowed to fumble and make mistakes, and that no one honestly expects him to live up to the unrealistically high expectations he puts on himself?? that he’s allowed to break down and fall, because there will always be someone to catch him and help him back up??

does he know he’s not alone anymore???

i want to see him learn that lesson. and it’s not going to be an easy lesson to learn, after spending basically his entire life being the only person he could truly trust and depend on. he’s stubborn, because he needs to be in order to protect himself. at least he thinks he does. he doesn’t, not anymore. but that’s a tough thing to just.. come to terms with.

it’s a good thing he’s surrounded by so many boyfriends that love him with more passion than the sun burns in the sky then, isn’t it?? ♡

Garu sees him and snuggles right up to him

Kuya makes sure Quincy is fast asleep before settling down next to Garu and grooming his tail (Quincy isn't as deeply asleep as Kuya thinks but oh well)

Yakumo walks past the room. Kuya vanishes instantly

Olivine settles into a nearby chair to read

Yakumo walks past the room 5 more times. Quincy silently watches him and every time their eyes meet Yakumo flushes

Morvay joins

Edmond comes in with some paperwork and cookies, not expecting anyone to be in there. Almost walks out, but Olivine waves him closer to the empty chair next to him

Aster comes in and drags Morvay away

Yakumo walks past again. Topper wakes Garu up and tells him that Yakumo is too shy to cuddle so Garu gets up and drags him with him. A deeply red Yakumo gets squished between Quincy and Garu while Olivine and Edmond pointedly look away

Rei and Blade walk past. Blade wants them both to join. Rei relents on the condition that he gets to fiddle with Blade's arm or something. Blade sprawls on top of the others, Rei sits on the floor next to them (knee just barely touching Quincy). Father settles on a cushion nearby

Morvay comes in with a stack of firewood, puts them down, adds a few to the fire, and joins the pile again

Dante comes in with snow on his head. Stops in his tracks when he spots everyone around. After several seconds of internal debate, he sits down in between the cuddle pile and the fireplace

Kuya poofs into the room and makes some comments about Rei and Dante having joined the pile

Quincy jostles his leg a bit, which wakes Garu up, who starts wagging his tail upon seeing Kuya and asks him with puppy dog eyes to stay

Kuya glares at Quincy but settles down

Yakumo wakes up, looking super drowsy. Immediately gets embarrassed when he sees everyone and slinks out

Morvay suddenly turns into his puffball form and buries himself in the pile

Aster comes in and eyes the pile with suspicion

Yakumo and Eiden come in with trays of hot drinks for everyone

Eiden gets that melty look on his face when he sees them all together like this and makes a joke about how it's no wonder he couldn't find anyone

Morvay pops his head out upon hearing Eiden. Aster starts scolding him for skipping out on work but mellows immediately when Eiden hands him a drink

As he hands Olivine and Edmond their drinks, he asks them if they won't join the others on the floor
