A brief letter to the Tumblr devs...

The following is feedback I've provided in the Tumblr app, but I felt I needed to share it, just to make sure someone hears what I have to say. Ignore the grammar and structure of this post, as it was intended as feedback.

The Tumblr app feels dated...

The UI/UX is somewhat underwhelming and could do with a refresh. Try cleaning up the app screens by changing the color scheme, add some more contrast between the buttons and the background, make posts feel like they are the focus not the app. I don't feel like Tumblr is the place to be for fresh creativity anymore. I think the design esthetics of the app distract or detract from what Tumblr is; a creative outlet. But now it feels more like a fancy Twitter.

If you take a look at other social platforms such as Instagram or Twitter (they're not the same type of platform as Tumblr but base with me) they've changed with time to create less of a distraction from the content on the platform by making the entire app one single uniform color, making buttons and switches less of the focus and more of an option, brining the contrast up on the interactive elements, and making content take center stage on your screen from the moment you open the app. I feel if you made similar design changes to Tumblr it would reignite interest and grey people back to what we used to look for here; quality content and creativity. Blogs from people we wanted to see, without the buttons and features in our way.
