In the process of creating Archibald, I have come up with a theory that could explain a problem most tulpamancers face when they develop their first Tulpa. I am currently at the point where I have to consently remind myself that my tulpa can hear me. I don’t know how accurate this theory is, so please tell me what you think. I feel that when one is first starting out, they are trying to convince their brain that there is another sentient person in their head. That is not to say tulpas are not real, sentient people, but that by creating a Tulpa you must make yourself believe that they are there.

In order to make a tulpa, a seperate sentient being in your body, you have to convince your brain that there is a seperate being in your mind. The mind must believe there is a seperate person in order to allow one to develop. When creating a tulpa, one of the most important things to do is narration. Narration is characterized as talking to your tulpa and believing that they can hear you. This is a hurdle that can cause tulpamancers to become frustrated, or at worst, quit. At first one has to consistantly remind themselves that their tulpa is real and that it can hear them. However, over time these reminders will become unessessary as your brain automatically assumes the Tulpa is separate you.
