There really isn't such a thing as inaccurate representation of victims in my opinion because not all victims are the same. One victim might say a darkship edit was a terrible representation while the person who made it felt like it was good representation of what happened to them.

A lot of people would say that tcoaal was a terrible game because it "romanticizes incest" while I believe it is a good representation of what can happen when two children had to grow up with no one but each other. Of course I'm not saying that victims can't feel uncomfortable with certain media, but it isn't a good determination if something is "correct representation"

This whole Haunting Adeline discourse on tiktok at the moment really shows me how much people will not blame the abuser for what they choose to do.

The whole discourse is basically "Women are too stupid to consent" and the "He didn't know any better" excuse. And it's so sad to see people actually believe that abusers are too dumb to know what rape is.

However some who don't care about the movie being mades only issue is that it's classified as a Dark Romance. Because since he harmed her he can't be a love interest and they can't be together.

However, in 1970's romance genres known as "Bodice Rippers" were known to have heroines subjected to violence.

People are just so nasty towards the readers of Haunting Adeline. Saying that their stupid, "birds", that they support rape, and that they aren't real feminists for even having the nerve to say that the book should be allowed to be made. Ignoring that bodice rippers in itself was a feminist movement.

Much like today Bodice Rippers were a women dominated field. And why they were is because women were the ones writing them. The people antis says it hurts. This was also a time when women were able to have more sexual liberation, and used fictional stories to have their own type self expression.

I really thought we would get out of this purity culture but more people come up and try to make it seem like reading a certain type of fiction makes you yourself immoral.
