these days im staying at my parents' house to take care of the cats while they're away, and I've been feeling kinda nostalgic.
Without much to do here, I linked up a couple synths and samplers and recorded this ambient jam, which is the most emotional / expressive piece of music I've done in years, reflecting these days' feelings.
The ambient loop went on, barely interrupted, for hours. I recorded a couple versions but I also let it run and resonate through the house.
I almost struggled to turn it off in the end, as it was beautiful and I knew I couldn't recreate it exactly ever again, and I had to make peace with that.
The two main piano lines are in tune with each other, but they were recorded separately, and their rhythm and length don't match, they always chase around each other. It's like they are beautiful together, but never in sync. The melody is intoxicating, but you can never make sense of it, it can never be nailed down, it was bound to be ephemeral.
And because of all this, it's probably the most romantic thing I've ever created.
