i would like to start that masculinity and lesbianism are not mutually exclusive.
throughout queer history, we have seen how people assigned female at birth like me have performed a variety of gender roles depending on the culture and enviroments. our story doesn't have a linear timeline, historians have pointed out how afab people would dress in what was considered men's clothing and performed those roles damn well when they needed and wanted to.
the butch-femme dynamic was born out of the sapphic community at the beginnings of the 1900s and prolifitated in the 1950s after WW2 was over and because of the cultural shift (plus relief of not just a fucking war but an economic depression) propaganda spread about "men" who were forced into a death battle had to also battle the beginnings of a stupid capitalist system that was booming and were encourage to procreate with women in roles that were mostly dictated by religious western ideals (yeah, that is when the baby boomers started infesting this world)
and with that context the queer community built safe spaces around gender performance while they were actively fighting for our rights to literally just exist.
i may go off rails, I know. but the title of "man" or "boy" is not exclusive to amab cisgender individuals because after all, it is all a performance that has been written, discarded, re-written, put in the trash, re-invented through centuries of documented and undocumented human history.
i was born female, but i do NOT identify as a woman because i don't feel comfortable with it. it is as simple as that in my case, i am much happier and fulfilled as a man because i connect with masculine and masculinity history!
i love the masculine aesthetic, the masculine philosophy and i love the role of a man as it was engraved by the LGBTQ+ community.
my identity as a man does not and will not come from the patriarchy. it comes from the sapphics and how masc/butches/studs have define it.
plus... in my experience. because i was not assigned "male", my love for women never came from the lense of a heterosexual cisgender male. my love for women comes from the lense of a person who was assigned female at birth and that is a whole different perspective.
and also, I started taking testosterone to alleviate my dysphoria because it pained me as a human to be perceived, treated and not "looking" like a man.
that is my case, you may disagree but it is a fun discussion when it is amicable. i hope that you can read this and be more open about it, plus not discard the butch boy lesbian identity just because of terf ideologies that are blinded and deeply misogynistic at it's core.
