Fanciful Recollections

Have not posted a blog in forever.

I am an adult now with all the responsibilities to look forward to.  I’ve loved cartoons for as long as I remember.  Since I was little up to throughout college, I’d watch and rewatch cartoons because they brought me joy and hope about life.

I am a big “TV” watching binger and have watched all sorts of shows to the point where I’m an encyclopedia for the Sci-fi, cartoons, and what nots.  I’m not into a few of the popular shows like Walking Dead or GOT.  However, I do know unpopular shows like Dollhouse, Static Shock, etc.

I think my favorite cartoons as of late has been Gravity Falls and Steven Universe.  Although I relate a lot more to Steven Universe because I really love the relationships he builds with people.  The creators and people who work to bring such an awesome thing to life really moves me to tears sometimes.

These days I love the internet because I have such easy access to all the shows to stream live or netflix.  However, I feel like it also opens lines of communication to the point where people can literally tear things down so easily.  I’ve seen Alex Hirsch and the other people who worked with Gravity Falls, literally pull their hairs out because of that huge onslaught of fans raining their nega-comments like no other.

Now I’m seeing this happening with the Crewniverse and it’s really not cool.  Like, I can understand people raging about leaks and being dissatisfied with how a show went.  However, how the show should be is clearly up to those who are making it and it’s unfair to try to steer someone’s creativity to fit your needs.  It’s also rude to harass anyone in general as well.

People forget how much words can hurt and if it’s coming from a huge fanbase, it can really do a number on any regular person.  It could also ruin a good thing too.  Steven Universe is a wonderful show with amazing characters and potential.  I always look forward to every show, and even if there’s a hiatus for a while...I’m ok with it because I know the crewniverse is working hard to bring quality episodes to us viewers.  It takes time and effort to create a wonderful thing.

The internet is also a wonderful thing, but it kinda coddles people into getting things instantly.  I sometimes forget patience because most things are a click away and I forget that 10 years back, I’d have to wait 5 min for a page to load on dialup.
