I see both sides of the situation, Grant is a media personnel hes not a famous basketball player, given that hes not used to the hate, threats, and bullying. I feel like him coming out about it and stepping away from the wings aswell is probably the biggest reason Jose made a statement. If Grant never said anything neither would Jose.
But I also see the side of, this has been happening to your rookie for months on a much WORSE scale and you never said anything directly about the things people were saying to/about her.
Azzi and many other players in the league receive much worse on a daily basis but at the same time most of them are used to this and know how to block it out, Grant is essentially a regular ol dude of course hes going to have a different reaction to these things and it may shock him and affect him a little more 😭
I think Azzi does a pretty good job of staying off of socials and not really paying attention to the noise but if she were to post some of the things that are said in her dms or come out and say something about the threats, bullying, and hatred she’s received Jose or the Wings would’ve probably made a statement too.

you’re completely right there’s a difference between supporting a player and assuming their mental state. It’s very weird when people see a clip of a player after a loss and automatically come to the conclusion they’re struggling mentally when in reality half the time the players are just upset they lost. Obviously I’m all for supporting players especially if they’re mentally struggling but people are too quick to assume so and it just gives parasocial.
Thank you!! 😭 Like tell me you’ve never played a sport before without telling me.. After a loss or a bad performance I don’t want nobody to talk to me for at least a few hours let alone have to deal with media 🤦🏽♀️
Maybe you should check in with the people in your life if giving encouragement makes you uncomfortable. You never know who may need it
Assuming someones mental status who you’ve never met a day in your life is not “giving encouragement” its overstepping boundaries.
Sorry to put this in the tags but just so we’re clear.. none of us have the status to check in with Paige or Azzi’s mental health.. we DO NOT know them nor is that any of our business as we’re strangers to them.
As Paige has mentioned multiple times, we are not her best friends and we do not know her day to day life 😭

im a lurker so yes this is my first post sorry its long!
I hate how people keep talking about Paige and Azzi’s mental like they know them. we dont see nearly enough of them to dictate how they are doing mentally and if they’re struggling. seeing people say stuff like “i can tell paige is struggling mentally right now” “they’re killing her love for basketball” or “you can tell shes mentally drained” makes me cringe. They are obviously rightfully upset they’re on a bit of a losing streak right now + Azzi being out im sure she wants to be healthy and be able to play, But assuming things like this about people we do not know is not okay. Its fine to feel bad for our favs and want them to look/be happy but again we dont see NEARLYY enough of their lives to determine how they’re doing off court and off camera. Any teams star players are going to be upset if they’ve been losing, for example, look at A’ja when the Aces aren’t playing well. She can express her dismay/unhappiness but you don’t see people trying to say that shes in a bad place mentally everytime the Aces lose a game.
And even if one of them was in a bad place mentally Its NOT our place to discuss that on the internet as strangers who do not know them. As an athlete myself athletes mental health is so important but its HOW you bring attention to it.
They’ve been playing basketball almost their entire lives and have experienced all the wins, losses, injuries, etc at so many different levels of bball. They are strong women mentally and physically and sometimes we have to take a step back as fans and just show our support without overstepping.
