It’s not always easy to get healthy. With all the guilt and stress that comes with trying to eat right, Nutritionist Valeria Cody works hard on coordinating meals and plans so you don’t have to. Whether you’re worried about  weight related health problems, allergies, or even just trying to go vegan– Val works with you step by step to make healthier, smarter choices. She never works solely off of weight goals, but rather making sure what you put on the inside makes you feel good on the outside. She offers discounts to everyone in the building and works closely with the doctor’s office Salazar & Associates.

They work closely with many of the businesses in the building, including VIRL PR and the Embody Salon on the first floor.

However, if you’re looking for something serious, you should consider stopping by Matchmakers Limited. Finding you the one is their priority. They hold small, intimate cocktail mixers for their clients at their office, and occasionally host speed dating at Compagnia up stairs. Their office and team may be small, but they are a force to be reckoned with.

ABOUT CARMEN

Being the youngest of three, Carmen was fairly spoilt to the point where her expectations are quite high. She despises manipulative people and can pick up fake mannerisms from a mile away. Her high standards however are a curse when it comes to her love life. She’s never been in a long term relationship and has an unhealthy habit of falling for those who are committed to someone else. Despite her poor relationship choices, she is fiercely loyal to her friends and loves them unconditionally.

ON NEW YORK

Carmen has lived in New York her whole life, and would never leave if she had the choice. She loves the lights, the people and the opportunities the city has to offer. She grew up in Forest Hills, Queens in a fairly upper-middle class family.

WHEN IT COMES TO WORK

Growing up, Carmen believed she would be stuck in a dead end job doing nothing with her life until she discovered that people on the internet actually cared about what she thought. Online, her blunt, straightforward opinions were praised and thus her following grew dramatically. With fans around the world following her ‘Carmen Unfiltered’ series through her blog and her vlogging channel she had no choice but to enlist help from a PR firm. Now with VIRL PR helping her keep her numbers up, and their sister talent agency lining up jobs for her, Carmen’s well on her way to superstar success.

IN FIVE YEARS…

If life goes the way Carmen wishes it to, she’d love to have published a book, be all over TV and perhaps even help others to pursue their dreams within new media. She has little thought towards her personal life however, and isn’t even thinking about marriage or children.

Carmen is at 514 every day, as it is significantly close to her apartment. She’s either at the coffee shop working on her blog or in the PR office pulling clothes for a photo shoot. She loves the building’s charm and often wishes she could move in.

VIRL (Pronounced Viral) PR is a boutique public relations agency that specializes in fashion, beauty and lifestyle. The company is always looking for new clients and focus on innovation. They work very closely with their sister talent agency to promote clients, and scout new influencers frequently. Often they host their events and launch parties at 514's very own Compagnia.

ABOUT LOGAN

Logan is a pretty no nonsense, unapologetic personality. He doesn’t particularly enjoy making small talk but he doesn’t mind it when people babble on to him, making him a great listener. He loves dogs, no matter their size or breed, and hates any kind of negative or antisocial behaviour which is why if anyone is causing any kind of conflict in his restaurant he won’t hesitate to personally drag them out.

ON NEW YORK

For years, Logan worked alongside a friend of his in England. They learned together, and their passion for food and entertaining flourished together. One day, when they were in their late twenties, the two of them decided to open an establishment together. Like Compagnia, their bistro in Sussex was always busy and critically acclaimed. One day, a girl came in looking a mess and needing to use their telephone. She turned out to be a New Yorker, who Logan fell hard for. He eventually followed her to New York and they were married in a small ceremony. He opened Compagnia a short while after moving his life to be with her. As 40-50% of marriages do, Logan and his wife ended up separating years later. His ex wife owns a percentage of Compagnia however prefers to remain a silent partner, knowing that the business means the world to Logan and that it’s the only reason he stayed.

WHEN IT COMES TO WORK

If there’s one thing Logan cares most about in this world, it’s his restaurant. Everything on the menu was specifically chosen by him to be prepared in exactly the way that he intended. He loves feeding people, specifically with Italian food as it reminds him of the very last trip he went on with his family before his parents separated when he was fourteen. He specifically remembers a moment when his parents were arguing and in order to escape he sought out refuge in the kitchen. There, he assisted a woman in making their dinner and the smiles on his parents and younger sibling’s faces when they tuck in was the seed that grew to become Compagnia.

IN FIVE YEARS…

Though Logan has no interest in expanding in the immediate future, he knows that he eventually must move on. Whether he goes back home or opens a few more restaurants however, is unclear to him. He also knows that he should focus on relationships as he definitely wants to have a family as big as his own one day, but doesn’t know where to start after his first failed attempt.

His CONNECTION tO 514 W. 24TH ST.

When Logan’s realtor first showed him 514, he almost refused. His vision involved a small Italian restaurant on the ground floor that would attract people from all walks of life. After viewing the inside and realising the potential however, Logan fell in love, and does his best to depict the restaurant as a venue that welcomes everyone.

WANTED CONNECTIONS

☞ EX-WIFE | 33-37 | The two are still in contact due to her part ownership of the restaurant. Other aspects of their relationship can be discussed.

☞ SOUS CHEF | 30-35 | The only person Logan trusts with the restaurant when he is ill or unable to be present. The sous-chef is his apprentice in a way, and Logan seems to be subconsciously conditioning them to take over Compagnia.

☞ BEST FRIEND | 38-45 | Logan’s family essentially as all his blood relatives are in another country. Someone he drinks with, talks to and shares everything with.

SALAZAR & ASSOCIATES PRIVATE PRACTICE : FLOOR 5

Not overly small, but still very homey, Salazar & Associates is a well known and trusted family doctors office. The owner, Tomás Salazar a renowned OBGYN and general practitioner who takes pride in treating every patient like family. All of his staff are very close knit and similarly minded. His office takes care of many of the employees in the building. They also refer many of their patients to the nutritionist on the 3rd floor.
