Hi I transitioned without even thinking I had dysphoria. Like later in hindsight I can go "oh that's probably what it was" but for the first year of my transition I was straight up like "I like being a guy but I like being a girl WAY more" and you can do that!! There is no prerequisite amount of suffering needed to make yourself happier.

Recently my partner and I were talking and we both said we considered our first date together to be this time in our early teens when we went to the library and had lunch. We’d been friends for several years at that point, hung out a ton, been to each others houses. But for some reason that’s our first Date in both our minds.

Which got me thinking like. What do you define as A Date vs. just hanging out? I’m asking as an ace/aro person in a QPR but you don’t have to be ace/aro to respond.

My partner and I decided a date was A). Where the main objective is to get to know each other and B). You’re worried about impressing the other person (Especially in the context of a first date). But I’m very interested in other people’s opinions.

On one hand ADHD makes hobbies very frustrating because I constantly get super hyperfixated on stuff, pour all this time and energy and even money into it, and then drop it out of nowhere.

But on the other hand it’s kinda fun because look!! Look at all the stuff I’ve tried!!! I was obsessed with origami for 6 months straight in middle school, and I still remember how to make hearts, so I always fold my candy wrappers into little hearts before I throw them away. I spent two years in sewing classes and I still have a pair of penguin print pajamas I made. I got super into coding for like 2 months last year and learned the basics of C#.

And yeah maybe the hyperfixation faded and I wasn’t into the hobby anymore, but that doesn’t mean the time was wasted. I did stuff! I learned things! I forgot most of it, but I still learned it!! And you know what, I had fucking fun doing it!!! And that’s what hobbies are all about, dude. You don’t have to be working toward mastering a skill or making some masterpiece. You just gotta kill time and have fun.
