Madeline Alvizo is a poet, photographer and Co-Founder and CEO of Chola Pinup, a company/organization/movement dedicated to empowering mujeres of the barrio. She was born and raised in the the lower Yakima Valley in the State of Washington. Alviso entered and won her first poetry slam in the second grade and published her first short story at the age of 8. Always looking at arte and poetry as a form to express what was going on inside, it was no question in college Madeline Alvizo helped form XICA(Xicanas Illuminating Cultural Arts) and later founded Mujeres In Motion (A Xicana Poetry Collective of Mujeres in Washington State).  Always putting in a taste of activism with a sense of Chola-Barrio Style, her arte helped her co-create Chola Pinup.  Chola Pinup would be one of her most influential successes; Being a movement that spans across the globe uniting cholas and their barrios for a common good and social empowerment.  Using arte, photography and the internet to make issues that affect the barrio public and accessible to all those who are like-minded and or interested in contributing to a greater cause able to connect and unite. Over the years she has published various poems, has been a featured poet at many community events, her photography  has been at many art shows in Southern California. Most excitedly shooting promotional work for the independent film ATTACK OF THE 30 FOOT CHOLA in Hollywood and shooting the original cast members of the iconic chola film MI VIDA LOCA in Echo Park. At 31, Madeline is married to her loving husband Juan Ramirez and is expecting her second child. The couple resides in Granger, WA but frequents Southern California.
