my eternal personal bugbear about "authenticity" in specifically artwork is the central irony that a given piece will only be accepted and understood as suuuuper authentic and raw and real if it matches what the audience perceives as the artist's True Self. "authenticity" has a look, it has a style, it has a vocabulary, it has a hierarchy of materials and media, it should be folk craft or handmade over industrial or digital, it should be emotional and warm over detached and bitter, and obviously it should look pre-21st century because as we all know no one has ever existed honestly since the turn of the millennium and all Authentic Culture died to death badly in 1990. I've heard tons of artists in marginalized groups repeatedly get the feedback that they should make their art "more authentic" and more "reflective of their identities" by people who clearly just mean "make it look more like the stereotype I expect from you." it's a framework that relies on the idea that the only real representation of a culture or identity comes when you strip away all its interrelations with other groups, as though cross-cultural exchange and technological innovation aren't constants throughout human history.

Israel systematically targets the health of pregnant mothers and infants in Gaza. This is a reality every parent in Gaza knows. It has also been confirmed repeatedly by others. Pediatric healthcare professionals in Gaza have been bravely speaking out about how Israel is currently using restrictions of formula into Gaza to torture and kill Palestinian babies.
My friend Nader recently became an uncle to his newborn baby niece, Masa. Due to the traumatic stress and malnutrition experienced under genocidal conditions, many mothers cannot produce breast-milk. Masa, like tens of thousands of other babies in Gaza, relies on formula to survive. Today, Nader told me that this little girl is in the hospital now due to a severe chest infection. She is only 8 days old. Please help her.
I woke up today to the tears of my brother's wife, the mother of little Masa, who is suffering from a severe chest infection and is currently in the hospital under medical care. We implore you, friends, to help us get out of this situation and donate to buy milk and other necessary baby supplies for this child so we can leave Gaza. Please don't hesitate to donate.
Nader's fundraising is vetted (gazavetters #4) and supports his large family of nine people, including small children of which little Masa is the youngest. Israel's systematic targeting of children means that the price of formula, diapers, medicine, and other basic supplies are extremely expensive. Please help him raise the funds needed to help innocent Masa survive genocidal conditions.
The little girl is still in the hospital under observation and receiving intravenous injections to reduce the inflammation in her chest. It's making it difficult for her to breathe and prevent her from drinking milk. Please help us and donate to save this child. Please don't leave us alone. Please, please donate now. Every donation can save a life. Please donate now.

Fandom is so different now and itās becoming un-fun with how quickly shit moves.
I just want to enjoy things. I donāt want to have to play a game of Artist-Race that seems to be afoot lately.
Yaāll eat up fandoms, leave artists and writers bone dry and then move on so fucking quickly then fucking wonder where all the Good Fandom Stuff is.
Idk Maybe cherish some things for longer. Reblog stuff. Interact with people. Comment and share.
Fandom is Capitalism now and Iām not being nuanced.
people also seem obsessed with only Doing Fandom about currently active works?
āoh, Iām so sad that show ended! I really miss the fandom!ā who said you have to leave, coward
Fun fact: You are part of keeping a fandom alive. Every interaction, every person in a fandom has their own part to play. If thatās reblogging art, fanfics or making cursed edits, thatās good enough.
Fandom is for community, not consumption.

We are "The Noor Shams Team", a grassroots local initiative in the Gaza Strip founded and run by the families of celiac children themselves. The team representative is Ahmed Sabah, a devoted father whose own child is one of these patients battling the disease every day. As parents and relatives, we live this struggle daily. Our mission is strictly humanitarian: providing safe, gluten-free food and essential medical aid to children suffering from Celiac disease.
Under the current catastrophic conditions, access to regular food is nearly impossibleābut for Celiac children, eating normal flour or contaminated food is literally life-threatening. It causes severe intestinal damage, malnutrition, and excruciating pain. Gluten-free products are completely unavailable or unaffordable in local markets right now.
Every single donation goes directly to procurement and distribution:
Purchasing certified gluten-free flour and grains.
Preparing and distributing urgent food baskets to registered families.
Ensuring these children survive this crisis without medical complications.
š How you can help:
To learn more about our project and how you can support our mission, please visit our main blog profile page at @ahmed-gaza-celiac
Even sharing this post helps us reach more hearts!
This blog is new, but Noor Al-Shams Celiac Team has been fundraising on instagram and tiktok before coming here. Their chuffed campaign links to google drive folders with many photos documenting the distribution of gluten-free food purchased with previous donations.
I am not qualified to vet fundraisers, but I think there is more than enough information provided to establish this grassroots group supporting Gazan children with Celiac disease. Please check their documentation for yourself (here and here) and help them out!
Save the children of Gaza suffering from celiac disease
okay for scientific reasons. i need to know if anyone would be even slightly interested in a video essay about constructs/performances of masculinity in emo.
id wanna approach that topic from a bunch of different angles and cover a lot of ground, and iād also be double dipping into talking about masculinity in punk and hardcore more specifically because itās impossible to talk about masculinity in emo without talking about hardcore because emo as a subculture is a response to a different subculture (punk, more specifically hardcore which isnāt necessarily itās own subculture but has become somewhat disconnected from punk and iām cutting myself off here because itās a whole thing) AND as a response to the macroculture of the late 90s/early 2000s. but just like with most if not every subversive subculture, both punk and emo fall into the trap of just putting a different tablecloth over a broken table.
okay iām cutting myself off here because i could literally go on forever but this is a topic i could actually go on for a million years about and iāve already started collecting sources (i need to find more primary ones but first i wanna refine my scope so i know where to even start looking) and i know i wanna talk about a bunch of different songs so i already have a bunch im thinking about mentioning because i wanna use the whole āa disturbing amount of pop punk (and other genres under the emo umbrella but pop punk gets the most shit for this and rightfully so) is just vitriollically hateful towards women or blatant objectifying or both, ie. all the songs that are just some whiny guy doing a tom delonge impression calling a girl who broke up with him or something a bitch and a whore for three minutesā as a jumping off point because thatās something even people who arenāt into emo are pretty privy to (in fact, that forms the impression that a lot of people who donāt particularly like emo have of emo).
anyways. yeah. if any of you would give a fraction of a shit please let me know
i showed akira to my best friend today
you can imagine the amount of questions i had to answer when credits appeared on the screen
first one was something like what the actual fuck was that
it's funny how most of my explanations went to analyzing japanese local dialect rhythmic chants commonly used during aomori nebuta festival that goes something like "rassera-rassera" and they basically mean "welcome/ come and join!" and boy how it makes my whole body shiver when i hear those chants while they're racing through the city of billion lights and broken dreams i'm melting. music along with animation do something crazy to my mind yeah
i should be suffocating in there right now

GLaDOS voice: "Would you like to see some artwork I generated? I've heard from other test subjects that AI-generated artwork produces an uncanny valley response in human viewers because they can't perceive it as fully real. They've told me that it looks absolutely hideous to them, that they can't imagine anything more disgusting than AI art. But, well I've been practicing and wanted your honest opinion. Feel free to let me know how ugly you find this by ranking it on a scale from 'vomit-inducing' to 'eye-bleeding'." A robotic arm lowers from the ceiling holding a hand mirror up to Chell's face
