The only way to save himself was to do idol work (w/o ALKALOID). Mayoi forms a temp unit, and one of the members is Adonis, who ends up helping Mayoi out.

Kanata: Pretty, isn't it? Souma was the one who introduced me to this place.
[Fireflies] prefer clear [water]. That’s why he thought it would make me happy. Souma is such a [good child].
Around here, there aren’t any [streetlights], so I don’t normally come after [dark].
This is the only [time] I've come to see it.
Though sometimes I come here with everyone in [Ryuseitai].
Their faces light up with excitement, frolicking like [children] who have just found a treasure chest.
Shinobu always tries to catch [fireflies], saying things like, "Ninja arts, something, something jutsu~ !"[1] Fufu.
Mayoi: Chieftain... ♪
Kanata: Chieftain...?
Ah, you and Shinobu are [close friends], aren't you?
Mayoi: Close friends...!?
Y-yes, yes! That's right, we're really close! So close, I could stick him in my eye, and it wouldn't be painful at all!
Kanata: I see. Fufu, thank you for being so friendly with him.
Perhaps we should be quiet for a while. It’s nice to look at the [scenery] and let your mind wander.

Shinkai-san is such a mysterious person. There’s something ethereal about him, and I can never quite figure out what goes through his mind…
He can offer advice so casually just like he did earlier.
Kanata: No. I've still got a [long way] to go.
Living in this [world] is tough. Back then, I was [fed up] with how complicated life on the [surface] was.
But there were people who made me a [human being].
If it weren’t for them, I wouldn’t be who I am [now].
Hearing Mayoi’s [words] made me feel as if those people were being praised too, and it made me happy.

Kanata: I’d really like to watch the [goldfish scooping]~
Mayoi: Ah, ohh… So that's what you meant. Given the context, I figured you probably wanted to eat it…

Kanata: Yeah~ Rescuing [fishies] is a [specialty] of mine, so much so that I once left a store clerk completely [speechless] once...
After that, I just admire them from afar. I'd feel bad if they had to [close up shop] because of me.

What's more, I felt that feeling of "wishing for the fun times to last forever" many times in my activities with ALKALOID.
But… whenever it comes to the scenes with Shinkai-san, I suddenly lose all my composure.
The thought of you leaving feels like something distant… My feelings just can’t keep up.
The lead role is meant to drive the story forward, right? But since I’m used to supporting others… I can’t help but be on my guard.
No matter how hard I try to perform, I have this feeling that I'm falling short.
Even though I know something has to change, I have no idea what to do...
...I'm sorry for telling you all this.
Kanata: It's quite all right. If you don't release your pent-up emotions, they'll just [cloud] your mind.
But because you let me in, I feel like I’ve managed to catch a glimpse of Mayoi's [feelings].

Mayoi: I was careful to choose a bike with a lightweight frame to avoid straining my legs.
Subaru: The salesperson said that lighter weight makes it easier to gain speed on hills, but it can make it trickier to control, so it's best not to go overboard.

It’s just like magic, isn't it. …Well, I am an outsider, so I suppose that’s why I feel that way.
In reality, it's all thanks to the efforts of Producer-san and the scriptwriter, right? Thank you truly for all your hard work.
Kanata: Fufu. From here on out, it’s us [idols'] turn.
I’ll start reading the [script] right away.
Subaru: Producer, what's up? …Is there something about the script we got that's bugging you?
Hmm... I see. You sent a draft that focused on the friendship between young men in the countryside, but it seems like quite a few edits have been made?
With such a short runtime, if all five characters were the leads, it would just wind up being a mishmash of everyday scenes.
So that’s why the screenwriter revised it to have two leads and three supporting roles, huh?
But, from Producer's perspective the differences in screen time is a concern, you say...
Izumi: It's all about the content. A drama that makes everyone stand out equally would just come across as unnatural.
Even if you don't get much screen time, as long as you have some standout moments, the fans will be satisfied.
Yuta: Exactly. As long as I'm not some extra like "Passerby A," I’m fine playing a supporting role.
If the supporting cast isn't solid, the whole production will feel a bit flimsy …Even if the lead actor stands out, it can make the work seem weak.

The two leads, Seiran and Yamase, have been best friends ever since childhood. They have a deep bond built on trust, where they can tell each other anything...

Seiran was to stay behind in the village alone, away from his parents, for the traditional summer festival rites.
During this, he'll be making summer memories with his friends, but...
Deep down, he wants to cherish the little time he still has. But Yamase is the only one who can’t seem to come to terms with it… It feels like a summer story filled with heartache.
Subaru: "Heartache" was one of the words we came up with, wasn't it? Seems like the other words were incorporated nicely, too.
There's indeed a difference in screen time, which Producer was worried about. But when I read it, it didn't feel out of place at all, so let's stick with this script!
Izumi: The real challenge is deciding who’s going to play which role, right? Usually, this sort of stuff gets decided with auditions. So what’s the plan there, Producer?
Yuta: ...Got it. So, casting is up to us, then.
I'm fine with any role in this script. How about we do a quick run-through and decide based on how it goes?
Kanata: Fufufu. Times like this are when [this] makes its grand return~
Mayoi: The "Shinkai-san Box,"[1] huh? You're right, that does seem like a fair way to decide.
