3rd Eye Perspectives

So in the recent passing of our Prince, I feel called to share the story of my first TRUE Prince EXPERIENCE. 

I was working as an After-school Program Director in 2011.

I came into work that day wearing my purple Peacoat (that I had just got on clearance at Old Navy the weekend before)…JUCIED!

One of my staff (shout out to Angela) came thru the doors waving 2 tickets!!!

“Guess where you’re going tonight???” She said…

Prince and Sheila E. Live in concert at the Oakland Oracle.

My heart dropped…I was wearing my purple Peacoat ready to experience the Purple Rain himself…PRINCE!

Bobbie (shout out to Ms Washington) my beloved program assistant would also share the experience with me. I was so thrilled and felt so loved all in one moment. (I really loved that job and managing such a great team of amazing individuals)

So at this point…I know I’m going to see Prince in a few hours so I’m stalking the clock.

When we arrive the stage has been transformed into the iconic Prince symbol…where one mic and one piano stand in silence. The stage is lit up in what looks like every shade of purple one could ever dream of.

We start the show off with the amazing Sheila E. and Glamorous Life… she plays long and hard…I swear I witnessed her break 2 drum sticks!!! (Is anyone else turned on by drummers...just me?)

I love me some DRUMS!!!

Then the Prince himself come out in a all white suit with high heel boots…FLAWLESS!

It was 2011 and yet he looked no older than 1999…

He did 3 encores…the crowd was so live.

I remember midway through the concert he stops the music and addresses the sea of lit cellphones…

“Put away your phones…and BE HERE…Be Here with Me!” he yelled to the crowd. 

It was absolute MAGIC!!!

I will never forget that moment, I will never forget the fact that when I arrived to work that day, I had no idea I would be gifted such an experience, that it would be my first and my last…that it would change me.

In my heart his music will play forever!!!

oh...and you know I still got the coat! 

Today my feet seem to wander thru the day..they led me to my mother! 

I spent the day with my mama…we spoke of LOVE, Self-LOVE and forgiveness.

She stood behind me as I spoke to my future, she fed me fruit, we laughed together, we spoke together…she listened…I listened. 

 At home I think of her and the things she say…

The things she know…

The LOVE she show.

HIGH…when I got home I drew a circle, I drew a circle around me…a circle in which I would create, create something beautiful. Create something HEALING! 

I placed stones inside me, Rose Quartz, Citrine, Moonstone, and Amethyst 

I watched them spin, I awaited expansion, I await my lotus!

Burned the loose sage and resins, inhale…exhale..MUSIC!

So here we are again..beginning again...creating again! Expanding... once more, circling the sun once more, honoring my becoming...again! 

In 25 days the earth will remember receiving me, the universe will align with me and the moon will glow in my honor and all those born on May 26th! 

The journey to becoming is never a easy one, there are many stories of joy and sorrow that contribute to the beauty that is the tapestry we weave called LIFE! 

I am honored to experience life thru the lens that is 3rd! My third eye has always lead me to truth, understanding and LOVE. 

In this countdown I plan to share pieces of who I am, who I was, and the realizations of who it is i’ve always been.

I’n 2016 where sexuality seems to be as fluid as a StarBucks menu I’d like publicly announce that WITCHES do it better!!

No shade to the Hetro/Homo communities but in a world where opinions can actually limit perspective I like to keep my heart pretty open to love who I want regardless  of gender! 

Not to say I accept all applications (I’m actually engaged) but I enjoy INTELLIGENT, HILARIOUS, ADVENTUROUS, ARTISTIC…PEOPLE (no gender included) 

Chill music...while I contemplate on the living!

It’s just ALL
