I Am Uaena

Yesterday, I hung out with my friends. Of course, one point in our night, the conversation topic was Music. And of course, they turned to me and said, “I don’t understand why you like kpop when you cant understand it. Like how can you jam out to it when you don’t know what they are saying. And they aren’t even catchy songs.”  Of course, I didn’t want to fight about anything so I just said, “I’m not sure.. I can’t explain it.” 

You don’t have to like my music, and I don’t have to like yours. You don’t have to understand my music, and I don’t have to understand yours. 

The only thing you have to do, is be my friend and I will be yours.  Friends, meaning you can’t make me feel bad about myself for liking something that makes me happy.. Like, I don’t have hobbies or talents that can make me happy. The music I listen to, apart from friends and family, is the only thing that really makes me happy at this point in my life.  Okay , If I had said this to them, they would probably be like, “Well you show us Kpop, like you want us to like it.”  I don’t like to broadcast my interests to the world that much. Like I wouldn’t buy shirts that show logos of games that I play or kpop groups that I like.And I only show a few of my friends kpop songs. The only reason why I showed you my type of music, is because you have showed me yours. I have “jammed out” to them, even though  on my alone time, I would never ever listen to them. And I know that your music is in English and that might be why, I could stand your music more than you can stand mine. But honestly, most of the time, I can barely understand the rap music that you put on. Like I don’t even know what a THOT is, or why someone would brag about having intercourse with a friends grandma. And, Yes, I have expressed my opinions on the music... But the one thing, I have never done was question why you liked them when I didn’t.  That music makes you happy, and all I wanted to do was show you what makes me happy.   Listen, my friends aren’t horrible people, and I love them to death. They make me happy too. its just sometimes we clash and that’s okay. And this was one of those times. I wanted to write this just so I could get my thoughts out there since I didn’t say it to them in person.  I know people wouldn’t take the time to read this, since its super duper long and kinda boring. But if you did, I hope that you have friends who understand you and how your music makes you happy. But if you don’t, maybe try telling them that it does, and if they are really your friends, they will understand and probably love you even more :)
