Fear and Love
Fear.
What do I really know about it?
Is it the chill that settles deep in your bones?
Is it the way your eyes fill with tears when your worst nightmare begins to feel real?
Is it the anger that rises without warning, or the anxiety that steals your appetite?
Is it the quiet worry of letting the people you love down?
Or the panic of being late, breaking a ruleāeven one you set for yourself?
Is it the weight of trying to be independent, of refusing to be a burden?
The pressure of leading, of carrying others, of being responsible for mistakes that are not entirely your own?
The fear of being misunderstood, no matter how hard you try?
Tell meāwhat is fear?
Because I feel it, but I donāt fully understand it.
And what about love?
At least thatāI want to understand.
Is it just words?
Three simple words: I love you?
Or is it the desire to be seen, to be appreciated for the effort you give?
Because if thatās all it is, then Iām not convinced.
Is it pain disguised as care?
Being hurt in the name of love?
Because that doesnāt feel like loveāit feels like something breaking.
No⦠maybe love is different.
Maybe itās the warmth that settles in your chest when someone truly shows up for you.
When someone is willing to break through your walls just to understand you.
Itās when someone listensāreally listens.
When they protect you, care for you, and choose you gently.
Love is when I donāt have to fake a smile.
When I donāt have to hide my tears behind laughter.
When I donāt have to pretend Iām okay.
Itās when someone understands me and chooses care over punishment.
When they remind me that itās okay not to be okay⦠not to be strong all the time.
Love is when I donāt have to cry in silenceā
not in my bag, not in isolation, not in hiding.
Itās trust.
Itās being reminded that Iām not an island, that Iām not a burden.
That itās okay to feel everythingā
anger, sadness, joy, insecurityāwithout fear of being too much.
Love is not just words.
Love is action.
And fear?
Fear is something I still donāt fully understandā
only something I continue to feel.
