Hiyori eyed her for a long time. Hachi may not have spoken about his fight very much with that bag of bones (Barragan), but he had always frowned when the mention of Soifon came up. His answer was always a little vague. A little aloof. But after a 100 years of living with someone, you knew their tells. Hachi felt… sad.

“Ya don’t like us vizard very much, do ya?”

And if she so openly disliked them… then what was to say about the rest of the shinigami. Did that mean her poor family members, who had lived so long in disgrace were now risking their lives for a bunch of ungrateful shinigami?

“Ya hate us ‘cuz of our hollow?”

     to the petite blonde’s queries, the Captain acknowledges with a bubbly chuckle. it tugs at the corner to thin lips & delivers a poisonous grin to the woman’s semblance, however... both soon die out. undoubtedly, this is not the most deserving of moments to find shelter behind the coarse facade of everlasting falsifications over what’s correct & what isn’t. additionally, ( & despite Soi Fon’s unquestionable mastery over skills over capacities such as manipulation & secrecy ), it doesn’t feel like it’s necessary to lie. lying would only prove her to be a coward. it would bring dishonour to her name & thus, to her very existence.

     His fan before his face, eyes peek over in slight confusion and disappointment. She was a lot of things but ‘not attractive’ was never one of them. It baffles him how she can swoon so much of Yoruichi yet be blind to her own positives..then again it was because of Yourichi and himself that she has become so cynical.

     ❛ It honestly takes someone as foolish as you to even reason someone would go so low, in order to seek, pointless, obtuse compliments. ❜   perpetually doomed to hostility , Soi Fon counters. with silver-tinted irises suddenly blazing, the shimmer in them seems to flawlessly match the acrimony that decorates her keen, belligerent words. it’s remarkable, really. how someone so immensely crude & vexatious, — such as Kisuke Urahara himself —, could so effortlessly rob the Commander from her every sense of tranquillity & equilibrium.

     a flawlessly trimmed eyebrow arches, presenting a bewildered expression to the brunette’s semblance, as a perceptible response to the substitute’s reckless discernment of audacity. at each passing moment, Ichigo seems to be growing bolder & more careless. is he not conscious that he owes the Captains ( & anyone above his rank, in consequence ) a tenor of reverence & responsibility? such irreverence causes a headache to disconcert the assassin, & hence, she sighs while crossing her sleeves.   ❛ I don’t remember confounding my duty when it comes to assisting you with help, being a sort of curiosity. ❜

     impatiently, however, the Shinigami woman continues:

PAIN COULD NOT HOLD DOWN UKITAKE’S KIND HEART. Until his life was snuffed out, the captain would CARE unrelentingly– it was his NATURE as much as it was his CONVICTION. The smallest of amused smiles stretched across his lips before fading, draining away like the pigment of his skin. Jushiro was a pale man already, but now he looked practically SEE-THROUGH.

“  .  .  .  So they have. ” Putting his mind to it, Jushiro could sense the new energies– FAMILIAR, yet NOT. “ It’s rather benevolent on their part to aid us now. We certainly have done nothing to earn that kindness. ”

The words were far from BITTER. Ukitake blamed the Soul Society no more than he blamed its former members. He felt only SADNESS for what had been done to them at the hands of Aizen Sosuke.

     benevolent. that’s a word that, most absolutely, didn’t entirely have a legitimate purpose in the wasp’s extended vocabulary. however, ( & although unaware of the sensation the word brings along with it ), the brunette Captain can only return to the man’s smile & with a brief, chaste chuckle. with lips pressed firmly against one another, Soi Fon sighs. nails promptly finish tying a sturdy knot around the last of Ukitake’s bleeding wounds & thus, all the violence in the Shinigami’s petite frame sinks, as she takes a seat beside her bruised associate.

     ❛ Maybe their... powers... will be of good use now. ❜   she obtrusively comments, somehow unsure of the truth her own wording. can this truly be it? will their outlawed abilities truly be of good use to them? & more so... will they be sufficient to bring an ending to this combat between gods of death & deceit?

“I don’t know… It’s just something I learned from observing human behavior. They seem to like mentioning food names when there’s a camera around…”

“One time, I heard them say ‘peach’. I wonder if that’s the word Hinamori-san would say when someone takes her picture…”
