“of course… i’m here for you whenever you need me okay?” 

                        ❝ yes i’m fucking heartless, adrianna! that’s what you always thought ❞ raine had always been the closed-off sort of cold girl. but that didn’t mean she had gotten over her ex. ❝ do you really think that just because i’m with another girl, i’ve forgotten you? her and i are having fun… ❞ she trailed off. ❝ that’s the way i cope with how bad things went between the both of us. ❞

              “now you’re putting words in my mouth!  i didn’t think that until now,”  the blonde snapped back quickly,  not liking raine’s tone or insinuation.  for pete’s sake,  adrianna had been in love with her  —  of course she hadn’t thought she was heartless.  “you seem perfectly happy with her,”  adrianna crossed a defensive arm over her chest,  though her voice was a bit lower than a moment ago. 

“It doesn’t matter if he deserved it. You weren’t on shift at the fuckin’ club, Milo. I didn’t need you to defend me.” It hadn’t been the first time that Solace had been called washed up, along with a plethora of other choice words, and they doubt it will be the last. “We should’ve just walked away. What happens if the guy decides to press charges, huh? Did you think about that?” 

this wasn’t at all what she had expected from a quiet night in, but she wasn’t going to complain.  if nothing else, it had become interesting, to say the very least.  her head was already swimming from the alcohol consumed but it didn’t stop her from refilling her empty glass with wine.  “i didn’t realise that you were capable of emotion,” she snarked back to his response.  

she couldn’t resist letting her guard down, for at least a moment, after his next message came through.  she couldn’t, nor wouldn’t deny the way her heart raced, butterflies filling the put of her stomach as she watched the three dots that signalled he was replying flash up on screen.  “one night only?  you might have made an appearance in a couple of my dreams before.”

was carrington cold sometimes?  yes,  of course,  and especially with charlotte.  she gave it right back to him,  though,  and that only made their interactions so much more exciting than those he had with everyone else.  he knew he shouldn’t be admitting these things to her,  but he couldn’t stop himself.  

                ❝ now you’re just assuming things ❞ raine sighed. ❝ i wasn’t seeing her when e broke up ❞ it was rare for someone to get on the student’s nerves but adrianna just knew the way to them. ❝ you chose to wait around! ❞

          “it sure seems like it!”  adrianna contested,  feeling embarrassed and angry and so many emotions at once.  “you waited like,  what,  ten seconds before forgetting about me?  i’m sorry i’m not a fucking robot and can’t shut my emotions off like that!”  

      “i know it’s you. but that doesn’t help me, rhys!” he’s frustrated but attempts to dial down his tone. “you can’t possibly understand what i’m going through!”  shaun folds up a letter in his hands as he forces his eyes away from the other. “fuck, i’m so angry.” he eventually blurts out, shaking his head in disbelief. 

Both arms are folded over her chest. “Of course I haven’t thought about it. You made your choice pretty clear. Was I supposed to sit around waiting for you after all of that?” She says, looking up with her brow furrowed and the corners of her mouth turned down. “It’s not like it matters anymore. What would it change? I just… I want to move on,” she says, finally meeting his eyes.

“Sounds like you’ve got a good start on my answer, so why don’t you tell me what you think?” Though, don’t miss how careful Liliana is to avoid his eyes. Jairo has always had a way of seeing right through her. “We’ve been over this. You really need me to say it again?”
