2112 and Their Words of Nonsense

Guess I should do a proper introduction since twitter kinda deadge. 

Hello! I’m 2112austin.

I'm a bisexual (and nonbinary) mess.

My pronouns are he/they.

Shitposting is in my blood.

I'm mostly into vidja games, technology, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure (my most unhealthy addiction along side the Like a Dragon Series), any music that has guitars (specifically rock and metal), anything transformers related (even some of the bad stuff), and most importantly: I am Tumblr’s Resident (self appointed) Sly Cooper Mega Fan. If you enjoy the series as well, then lets talk about it for hours on end!

I also particularly enjoy hacking video game systems (mainly stuff before current gen like the PS4, PS3, any Nintendo system, just to name a few). My primary goal is to have Mario playable on every platform imaginable.

I think that’s about it. Not sure how often I’ll post here, but I’ll definitely be around. For now, I’ll leave y’all with a reminder to eat ya fucking oranges.

Hope y'all are having a good time, going into 2024. I'm having a... time. For one, I'm now taking care of a puppy dog (like, ACTUAL small puppy), and she's been a real hassle. She has a lot of training ahead of her (and I have a lot of headaches ahead of me lol). But anyways, keeping this one short. So have a happy new year, and remember to always eat ya fuckin' oranges.

It's time. This is the FINAL special rant time. After this one, the rant times will be actual rants again, and these special ones will become their own thing. I'll be going into more detail about how that's gonna go later, but for now... It's time for

The Giggle

This is the last of the 3 Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials, and honestly....

It's my most favorite out of all of them.

It starts with a man named Charles Banerjee. He's working with John Logie Baird, the man who first demonstrated the idea of television in 1927's London. Charles walk's into NEIL PATRICK HARRIS'S TOY STORE, as he is looking for a puppet to use for the television demonstration (as using a human test subject would cause injuries, since the lights are so bright they could cause fire). He finds one named Stooky Bill. Neil Patrick Harris says that by purchasing Bill, Charles is leaving Bill's family behind, which makes Neil very sad. Charles pays for the puppet, then goes set up the demonstration with ol' Johnny boy. The puppet starts to burn, it's jaw drops (because it saw that Doctor Who was genuinely good again), and a laughter- sorry- GIGGLE is heard. Intro rolls.

Off the track for a bit, but this did actually happen (well, sort of). The first proper demonstration of the television DID involve an actual puppet named Stooky Bill. As for why a puppet and not a human, according to a nice convenient article (that just came out today) from the Radio Times, the main reason (apart from the extreme heat of the lights) for using a puppet was due to humans having bad contrast. However, due to Stooky Bill's painted face, he had way better contrast (and could withstand a few pesky bright lights with nothing more than a charred face). Anyways, let's talk about-

NEIL PATRICK HARRIS AS THE TOY-MAKER

This was probably my favorite part of the episode tbh (apart from a think I won't talk about right now because SPOILIOPS). Neil absolutely KILLS it as The Toy-maker. I'd love to say more, but what else is there to say? Neil was fucking GREAT.

Anyway's, The Doctor and Donna are trying to figure out what's going on, as U.N.I.T. drops in and takes them to HQ. There, they meet up with Kate Lethbridge-Stewart. Then The Doctor catches up with 6th Doctor companion Melanie, who is now working for U.N.I.T. The story goes that 2 days ago, a signal from god knows where is broadcasting someone's GIGGLE. This giggle is infact Stooky Bill's laughter, which had apparently infected all TV/Digital displays. iPads, iPhones, computer monitors, smart watches, you name it. If it was a screen that display images and videos, Stooky Bill was there (as The Doctor gracefully showed). They suspect that it's coming from a Korean (I think) sattelite. The Doctor Gives permission to shoot it down. After this, he asks Shirley (the wheelchair girl from The Star Beast) to find out when all this first went down. She tell's him, and The Doctor and Donna go on one more adventure.

They go to 1925, and spot Neil Patrick Harris's Toystore. They go inside, and The Toymaker makes a balls joke (really classy stuff). The Doctor recognizes The Toymaker, and then he walks into his curtain of dematerialization as he disappears. A Scooby Doo ass runaround occurs, as The Doctor finds a room with our old friend Charles. He had apparently played a game with the toymaker, and was turned into a puppet. We see a giant Neil Patrick Harris in the sky, holding up ol' Chuck by marionette strings. As The Doctor looks back at Charles, he sees himself as the puppet. The Doctor runaways in fear, Donna beats up some other puppets, they find eachother, and BOOM! The Toy-Maker appears before them. He fills Donna in on the different companions that've been with The Doctor since he wiped her memories, specifically the ones who died (so no chibnall companions). And each time he states cause of death, The Doctor corrects him.

They then play the first game: a simple game of higher or lower with a cut deck of cards. The Toymaker wins, though The Doctor argues that since he won first they should go best 2 out of 3. Then The Toymaker travels to 2023 where their next game will supposedly take place.

This scene is absolutely perfect, and I teared up a bit when The Toymaker mentioned Amy, Clara, and Bill.

Our Tardis duo returns to present day, and they warn U.N.I.T. that Neil Patrick Harris is coming, an- Holy shit he's already here and

OH MY GOD NEIL PATRICK HARRIS IS SERVING SERIOUS CUNT

The Doctor and crew then spot the toymaker outside manning the BFG 10K as he threatens to kill everyone or something. The Doctor then says that neil's fight is with him. Neil Patrick Harris then shoots David Tennant in the chest. He starts to regenerate, as Donna and Mel grab on to his arms.

The regeneration energy disappears, as The Doctor feels funny. It's going different... too different. ..

So um... remember the split regeneration "leak"? Yea um...

It was real

Yea split regeneration was real, though it didn't turn out as bad as I thought it would. So David and Ncuti Gatwa (who's in his pants and no one seems to point it out... what?) challenge The Toymaker to one final game: the first game: a game of catch. The Doctors win and 14nant's prize is him casting Neil Patrick Harris out of existence. He turns into cardboard and is dropped into his toybox. Afterwards, 14nant is sad because he doesnt want to part ways with the tardis. So Ncuti, with the remaining power of the toymaker, grabs a big clown hammer and smacks the tardis, creating a second one. They part ways, and Ncuti Gatwa goes into the wild blue yonder. 14nant and his new family of the Noble-Temples have dinner which makes me cry GOD DAMMIT THIS EPISODE WAS SO FUCKING GOOD DOCTOR WHO IS FUCKING BACK.

So yea. This was one of my favorite episodes in a LONG damn time. I loved pretty much every second of it. 10/10.

In these, I'll be talking about my experiences with different multimedia franchises (books, movies, shows, games, etc.). I'll mostly talk about individual entries, giving my thoughts/reviewing them, and maybe even a bit of history on them. This was something I've wanted to do for a while, albeit in video form rather than text form. But I can't really write for shit and I don't want to make a shitly written video, so I feel by doing them in text form here first I could improve on my writing skills, which would then eventually lead me to adapting those written posts into video form.

Little bit of a side rant. Not super important to the Rant Time™ Lore (albeit still a numbered entry), but I still wanted to make a post about

I'll say it right out of the gate. This is my favorite Like a Dragon game atm. It pretty much has everything I liked about all of the Kiryu games in one and then some.

For one, the way the substories are done here is very interesting. From what I could tell. hardly any of them are triggered by walking through Sotenbori. Most of them are started through the Akame Network. Now this can be a bit iffy, as it seems there's no point in exploring the city anymore. Wrong. Because Gaiden has it's own version of the Part-Time Hero system from 7 (where you can do small jobs for extra cash and (in gaiden) extra Akame Points). So there is very much still incentive to explore.

And also, another reason to explore is the glorious return of Locker Keys! Like most games that have them, they're hidden all around Sotenbori (as well as inside buildings and even The Castle).

Oh and The Castle. The Castle is this game's coliseum. It's probably my favorite coliseum in the series. For one, you can play as just about any of the fighters you can recruit (like funny goat man from 7 or preorder bonus Daigo Dojima).

The upgrade system is... not horrible. It's kinda like 0's where you actually BUY the upgrades with money. Though it feels kinda... off. Not bad, just off (also this was the first game where I got Tiger Drop I'm so sorry #FakeFan).

The Agent style is loads of fun. Sliding around on rocket boots, tossing explosive cigarettes, summoning drones (that are stronger when the enemies use them), and really FEELING like Spider-Man while swinging enemies around with a wire. The Yakuza style is also fun, though it IS just Kiryu's normal style.

Pocket Circuit is back (though... I haven't even touched it at all sorry), the new karaoke songs are bangers as usual (though I fear their english versions...), the Ryuji callbacks are fun, and uh... yea that's it let's get on with the actual story.

The previously mentioned story is also really good. Like, REALLY good. Yakuza 3 levels of good. And that ending is just....

I was destroyed. While 7's ending was emotional, Gaiden's was absolutely heart-breaking. Cried like a damn Shinada.

Like a Dragon Gaiden is an absolute joy (and I'm just glad we got one more Kiryu centered game before he gets le cancer).

10/10. Go fucking play it.

Oh bloody 'ell it's review time! This is the 2nd of 3 special edition rant times where I'll be talking about how I feel about the anniversary specials of one of my hyper-fixations, Doctor Who! Today's rant/review, however, is especially special... as it's a DOUBLE FEATURE!

Yesterday the latest live action Godzilla movie, Godzilla: Minus One, released. I just got to watch it today (along side Wild Blue Yonder), so I decided to talk about both in one post. For the first half, I'll talk about Minus One. Then in the second half, Wild Blue Yonder. So let's get started, shall we?

GODZILLA: MINUS ONE

I'm not the biggest Godzilla fan, though I REALLY like to think that I am. I love the Legendary Pictures movies, and Shin Godzilla is literally in my top 5 movies of all time. So saying I was excited for Minus One is a bit of an understatement. So, what did I think of it?...

I really liked it! Definitely the best Goji movie since Shin Godzilla (though the Legendary ones are "just about" as good). Goji's design in the movie is just perfect. It's the perfect modern Godzilla design. It takes aspects from past designs and adds some modern touches.

The human characters were actually pretty charming, especially Koichi. His story development throughout the movie was very engaging. I found myself more engaged with the human characters in this movie than most other Goji movies (even Shin Godzilla, which had the best human characters out of all of the modern (2014 onward) movies up until now).

The atomic breath in this movie is absolutely amazing. Instead of being a constant beam of atomic energy, it charges up (similarly to Shin Godzilla), which makes the dorsal plates raise out of Goji's body (which is a very nice touch). Afterwards a powerful, yet short lasting, beam is shot out of Godzilla's mouth. After the beam is shot, a LITERAL ATOMIC EXPLOSION is caused. It is ABSOLUTELY my favorite version of the atomic breath (though the Shin Godzilla one is an extremely close second).

So overall, Godzilla: Minus One is a fantastic take on The King of the Monsters, and is my personal favorite version of him. 9/10.

And now... it's time for...

WILD BLUE YONDER

Yea it's good. I'm not gonna tease y'all. It's damn good.

And to be honest, I put all of my weekly review energy (which isn't a lot to begin with) into the Minus One section, so this section might be way shorter and unserious so here we gooooo.

First off, this episode takes place entirely on a big ol' spaceship. And right off the bat, I LOVE these types of episodes where it only (or at least mostly) takes place in just about one area. The main other 2 of these I can think of is The Unicorn and The Wasp, and Heaven Sent (my favorite episode of Doctor Who, which I will ABSOLUTELY do a Review Time™ of in the future (Review Time™ is what these specials rant times will become after December 9th)).

The episodes starts with the tardis crashing in the 1660's, right on top of the tree Sir Isaac Newton sat under when he came up with the theory of mavitation. The Doctor and Donna talk to the man, which then Donna says "You can appreciate the gravity of the situation". COMEDY GOLD BTW. Afterwards, they leave. Newton then ponders on the word he had just heard from the 2, which he remembers as Mavity. Mavity then becomes the episode's running joke. And GOD I hope this running jokes stay's it's so good.

The Tardis then crashes onto the previously mentioned big ol' alien spaceship, and usual DoctorDonna shenanigans ensue. Donna and The Doctor spot a robot they call jimbo. jimbo is lovely but moves slowly. Slow and steady wins the race, afterall. Lifeforms that can copy other lifeforms appear, and the chase is on (also giantess fetishists are gonna have a FIELD DAY with this episode).

Late on in the episode, The Doctor is talking to Fake Donna. They mention their home, Gallifrey. Which Fake Donna then says "nah mate that's wrong i read ur mind mate you dont bloody know where ur from mate." Then Fake Donna mentions the flux and suddenly all of the Chibnall haters turned into goo like Fake Donna did right after mention the flux (which was NOT undone btw. actually kinda happy about that).

The Doctor and REAL Donna then runaway, find out the captain of the ship did an unalive by going outside her ship without a helmet on to stop her mind from thinking permanently (causing the Copycat Lifeform things to be useless for 3 years), and then Fake Doctor runs on all fours very fast and ngl I want more of that please I WANT TO SEE MORE OF DAVID TENNANT RUNNING ON ALL FOURS PLSPLSPLSPLS-

Anyways, jimbo explodes the ship and The DoctorDonna manage to escape. Then all of a sudde- HOLY SHIT WILF CAMEO.

oh and everyones killing each other or something idk the episode was fucking amazing

10 Wilfred Mott's Dancing out of 10.

Okay, okay. To be serious for a minute, the Bernard Cribbins cameo was very sweet. I did kinda hope we would see more in The Giggle, but RTD says that the scene we got in WBY will be the last we see of Wilf. Which is sad, but completely understandable.

OH SHIT I FORGOT I BEAT LIKE A DRAGON GAIDEN AND I NEED TO TALK ABOUT IT!!!

It's that time once again where I rant and/or rave about topics I'm both passionate and/or pissed off about (sometimes both at the same time). Today I'll be talking about the first of the THREE Doctor Who 60th anniversary specials,

"The Star Beast".

So I haven't really mentioned it here, but I am a HUGE fan of Doctor Who... at least the 2005 series (I'll get around to watching the classic series I promise). However, my love for the franchise (like many) kinda waned during the "Chibnall" era. Now I'm not gonna sit here and trash talk Chibnall Who all day (that's for another time), but I will say that I don't really HATE his era. It's just not as polished as RTD1 or even most of Moffat era (KEYWORD, MOST). However, I can safely say that I believe Doctor Who is in good hands once again!

Let's start with the new intro. It's BLOODY GORGEOUS!

Definitely my favorite intro sequence since Capaldi's. It's just so vibrant, wicked, and full of life. And it's nice to see a new intro after 5 years. Now Jodie's intro wasn't bad, per se, it just felt a bit teeny bit bland. Though I did like how it was basically Hartnell's intro but on steroids. Which is funny because the new intro is basically Eccleston's/Tennant's intro but on steroids as well.

As for the episode itself, it was fun! Definitely a return to form for the show. Rose Noble was a damn good character. She's written pretty well. Donna is as killer as she was in Series 4. And the reveal that the metacrisis was passed down to Rose was kinda unexpected (the thought of that being a thing didn't even come to mind tbh).

Now of course, Rose Noble is indeed trans, which is not a problem at all and anyone who says that it is a problem or that "ERM DOCTOR WHO IS WOKE NOW GRRRRR" is a complete idiot (and besides, Doctor Who has always been kinda "woke", and I absolutely no problem with that being the case).

Donna is as killer as she was in Series 4. Definitely was one of the best parts of the episode. The Meep was cool and cute. Also pretty "Killer". The reveal that the metacrisis was passed down to Rose Noble was not something I had expected or even really thought about.

The new Tardis interior was, again, GORGEOUS!

I love the fact that it looks a combination of the classic era interiors, with a slight hint of the steampunk aesthetics of the Eccleston/OG Tennant interioirs, and the winding stairs and ramps and whatnot of the Matt Smith/Capaldi interiors. AND THE ROUND THINGS MAKE THEIR RETURN ONCE AGAIN!

but yea overall it was rlly gud. definitely gonna do rant times for the other 2 specials (and honestly any new episode going forward). and starting with the christmas special, i'm gonna split the regular rant times and the review rant times into 2 separate things. the review rant times will then onwards be called 2112's Review Time™.

Like for real tho, they're so fucking good.

Oh boy it's rant time. And today, I'm real peeved. Because today, we got Like a Dragon Gaiden. And with it the demo for Like a Dragon 8. And though Gaiden doesn't have its dub, the 8 demo DOES. Which means we finally get a more extensive listen to how Yong Yea's performance as English Kiryu sounds like, and... um... I was one of the people that was actually fine with him being Kiryu (at first at least). And while I did think his Kiryu voice needed work, I didn't hate it...

Until now that is.

No, this isn't some sort of AI cover. This is OFFICIAL. And yea... It's not good. I'm sorry for being so blunt, but this is ASS.

Here's another bit of how it sounds compared to the japanese voice that Yong Yea himself posted.

And again, I was actually kinda hopeful for Yong Yea's performance as Kiryu, but... To say I'm disappointed is a bit of an understatement. Now saying that, I'm not gonna go and trash talk Yong Yea all day and say he's an absolutely horrible voice actor like some people are doing because I don't think he's THAT bad of a voice actor, but that doesn't mean I'm gonna spare this trash.

It just sounds wrong. Definitely doesn't sound how I would envision Kiryu sounding like when dubbed in english. Instead, he sounds like some nerdy high-school kid trying to put on a tough guy voice. Ya know? It just sounds bad.

Now with Darryl Kurylo, though his performance in the Like a Dragon 1 dub was not great per se, he definitely pulled off the Kiryu like voice better than Yong Yea, especially when he voiced Kiryu in 7. So it begs the question: why didn't RGG just go for Darryl again? Why did they have to choose a different voice actor (and why YONG YEA of all people)?

I don't know, man. I'm trying not to be so mean to Yong, but just... Why. Why did english Kiryu have to sound like someone who was shoved in a locker in high-school?

Anyway's, that's all for now. I'm gonna play more Gaiden.

The all blue's probably my 2nd most fav outfit out of all them (though the all green is just about tied with it since green's my favorite color). I'm prolly gonna also do one of these where I show off my house and such. Might even do screenshot dumps for other games idk.

Getting back into the Animal Crossing grind a bit. Changed up my outfit a bit. Probably my most favorite outfit I've done by far.

Heyo. It's me again. Time for another post where I talk about random shit and whatnot. Unlike my last schizo rant, this one is going to be a bit more... constructed, shall we say (and not even really a rant tbh). Today, I'll be talking about what was probably my most anticipated video game adaptation of all time. That being...

The Five Nights at Freddy's Movie. BE WARNED, THERE WILL BE SPOILERS, SO IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN IT, GO DO SO!

This is a movie that I, and a lot of other people, have been waiting to see come out for over 8 YEARS now. And now it's finally out. So, what did I think of it? Was it worth the wait?..

IT WAS WELL WORTH THE GOD DAMN WAIT!

It was pretty much everything I had wanted from this movie and then some. It's kinda similar to the Mario movie where it was clearly made by people who knew the games pretty well and wanted to make something the fans would LOVE.

There were a shit ton of references and easter eggs in the movie, too. Like the fact that Mike has a book called fucking "DREAM THEORY", Sparky the Dog makes not one but TWO CAMEOS (the first one being the diner called Sparky's (where we see a certain other cameo) and the second one being an actual Sparky costume seen in the parts and service room), and a whole lot more that I'll talk about a bit later on in this post.

Now the movie itself (all references aside) was pretty good. The story was really decent, and didn't seem to rush itself too much. Matthew Lillard absolutely KILLED it as William Afton (definitely my favorite interpretation of the character, and favorite character of the whole movie (even if he wasn't onscreen for too long)). The rest of the cast was good, as well.

There was this one seen where Max (I think that's her name. she was Abby's baby sitter) goes into Freddy's after Uncle Hank and the Gang™ broke in to trash the place, but never came back out. She follows one of the ghost kids into the parts and service room, and sees Freddy there. She gets up close to Freddy's jaw, and....

Yea. Pretty fucking gruesome.

There's also my favorite fucking cameo in the whole movie. Of course the boy CoryxKenshin show's up, taking Abby to Freddy's (and his mid credits scene featuring the Balloon Boy figurine Mike saw). But the OTHER big cameo (my favorite one) takes place at Sparky's diner, where Jane and Max are discussing how to deal with Mike, and their server is

MOTHER FUCKING MATPAT

And not only is MatPat in the movie, NOT ONLY does he say "It's just a theory", but the name of his character IS FUCKING NESS. SANS IS NESS IS CANON CONFRIM?!?!?!

So yea overall, I absolutely loved the movie. I highly recommend it if you're a huge FNAF fan like me.

This is gonna be a maybe semi-regular thing where I just talk about random shit and what not. For today, I wanted to rant about Sly Cooper and how Sony does not give a flying fuck about the series anymore.

As of today, it has been 10 YEARS, 8 MONTHS, AND 20 DAYS since Sly 4 came out. Since then, a movie was teased (and most likely cancelled, then turned into a TV show, then most likely cancelled again), and the original trilogy was released on the PS Vita (a decently okay port tbh, although emulating the PS2 versions or the PS3 versions on a Steam Deck is the far better way to play them portably IMO). The PS3 versions were also put on PS Now, then on PS Premium last year for the series 20th anniversary. And that's pretty much all they did within the last 10 years (apart from cameos in other games and merch).

I don't wanna sound entitled when I say this, but good fucking god can Sony just DO SOMETHING WITH THE SERIES?? Like honestly I am on my knees BEGGING for something new. Sly 5, the movie becoming a real thing, a VR spinoff game for PSVR 2, or even A WAY TO PLAY THE ORIGINAL GOD DAMN GAMES NATIVELY ON PS5 WITHOUT HAVING TO FUCKING STREAM THEM, I don't care. JUST SOMETHING. ANYTHING. It's like they actually do not care about the series. And it's not a thing where "Oh they're all about them cinematic experiences and what not", because the Ratchet and Clank series is THRIVING, so they obviously care about having a franchise like that still hanging around. I just wish Sly was one of them. Hell, bring back Jak and Daxter. Have all 3 of the PS2 Mascots back. But Sony's not gonna do that anytime soon. Do I wanna be proven wrong? Yes. But I won't...

Hope y'all been having a good October so far. It's been pretty good for me, personally. Definitely better than last October that's for sure, though I don't really like talking about that. So I'll just leave it at... I tried a relationship, and messed it up completely. The whole thing fucked me up all throughout October. Though I feel much better now, as I've tried to make myself a better person this past year (especially when it comes to relationships).

But uh, yea. I just wanted to make, like, a proper blog post (who makes those anymore lol) for once, to catch up with y'all. Sorry for the light trauma dump, tho lol.
