No doubt about it, Baler exceeded my expectations! I don't know if that's good or bad - after all, why should I be surprised that I live in a tropical paradise? All throughout the trip I couldn't help but think that despite all its faults, the Philippines is a wonderful country to live in. My photos simply cannot do Baler justice... oh well, at least I tried! Anyway, maraming salamat, Baler! :)

Aurora: It’s a province named after the lady-love and wife of former President Manuel Quezon. The province is one of the last frontiers of Central Luzon, with 70% forest cover and 328 kilometers of pure coast. Baler is the capitol town and it is famous for a historical siege and its killer waves.

Dambana ng Kagitingan (Shrine of Valor), Mt. Samat, Pilar, Bataan

The Shrine of Valor commemorates the bravery of Filipino and American soldiers against the Japanese forces during WWII. The monument consists of the colonnade and the 311-foot memorial cross. The base of the cross up to the 11-meter level is composed of 'Nabiag Nga Bato' sculptural slabs and sculptural bas-reliefs depicting significant battles and historical events by Philippine National Artist Napoleon Abueva (source).
