A single-lemg reflex camera (SLR camera) is a camera that typically uses a mirror and prism system that lets the photographer to view through thr lens and see exactly what will be captured by the camera. A difference between an SLR and a DSLR is only the way the pictures are developed. SLR is a single lens reflex camera that uses actual film while a DSLR is a digital single lens reflex camera that takes pictures digitally. Developing is the chemical process to fix the image on film. Digital does not have film hence it does not undergo developing. So the main difference is in what is used to capture the light. In film SLRs, the film exposed to light needs to be chemically processed. In digital SLRs, the sensor detects light and can produce high-quality images instantly and without buying more film. 

Commercial photography is where the photographer is paid for images rather than works of art. Fine art photography is photography created along to the visions/ideas of the photographer. 

Fine art photography is about the artist, they have a control over the creative process and the outcome. It is not just about documenting through images, there is a more of an art inspiration, the emphasis is on quality rather than quantity. A fine art photographer does more free lance work and finds it harder to acquire a job, they do not have a lot of jobs coming easily and often have another part time job on the side. Whereas for commercial photographers it is easier to find jobs and/or be hired by an agency, getting a job isn't as difficulty as they are selling by catering to what the buyer wants or needs.
