Monday, June 9 - Thinglink and #4thchat
I am participating in the Thinglink Teacher Challenge being hosted by Susan Oxnevad, and it started today. I have used Thinglink in the past with my students and love this tool. You can take any image and make it interactive by adding links to other resurces found on the web.
This week's challenge was to create a how-to Thinglink and I choose to make one on How to Do Mystery Location Calls.
I moderated our weekly #4thchat and our topic to discuss was Tips for Packing Up Your Classroom/Organizing for Next Year. It was well attended and great tips and resources were shared.
Sunday, June 8 - Preparing for ISTE via Google Hangout
Tonight I particiapted in our weekly Google Hangout with just Bill Krakower and Jerry Blumengarten. We used the time productively to work on our presentation for ISTE. Jerry has gotten Herff Jones | Nystrom to donate maps and a license to their StrataLogica for us to use and then give away as door prizes. I'm very excited about our mini-workshop.
Saturday, June 7 - CR 2.0 Live and Toni Plourde
Most Saturday mornings from 11-12 CT you can find me attending the weekly Classroom 2.0 Live webinar. I have been attending since 2009 and was recently invited by Peggy George to become a member of their Teacher Advisory Panel.
This week, Toni Plourde, presented on the topic "Earning Your Learning: iPad Apps and Accessibility" where she shared using the iOS 7 for iPad(iPod,iPhone) to explore ways to maximize the way students can engage and enhance their own learning. I learned about apps that can used used for UDL (Universal Design for Learning) in my classroom. (Livebinder resources - http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=1364092).
Friday, June 6 - #EdcampUSA and #JJAProject
Today I participated virtually in #EdcampUSA. It is incredible to think that the USDOE and Secretary Arne Duncan are ready to embrace social media as a way to learn from and with educators around the globe. Many of my PLN members were there in person. (Twitter archive from #EdCampUSA - 6/6/2014 - Google Sheets http://bit.ly/1jgxhOp)
As I was relaxing before going out for the evening with friends, I saw a tweet asking about my #JJAProject. Yikes, here it was June 6th and I had forgot to start it up for the summer. Well I fixed that right away. Want to have some summer photo fun? Join us for the #JJAProject http://bit.ly/Jtq8dI.

Thursday, June 5 - The One and the DEN
Finished the third and final book in the Selection series - The One by Kiera Cass. I enjoyed this series and will be checking with my friends on Goodreads for another YA series to read.
Tonight I hosted the #DENchat where we discussed the topic Summer Learning Ours and Theirs. I tried to participant in the DEN Blog and Social Media group meeting on WebEx but it was too hard to moderate the chat and try to listen to Steve Dembo, et al discussing DEN social media.
Wednesday, June 4 - Simple K12, Digital Leadership and More DEN
I presented a webinar for Simple K12 on "Being Better at Math: Strategies for Elementary Math."
I attended a DEN webinar entitled "What's the 4-1-1? Summer Lovin'" The archive can be found here - https://discovery.app.box.com/s/xqatmikqat11yb8thg3u
Very late last night I finished reading Eric Sheninger's Ditigal Leadership: Changing Paradigms for Changing Times. I am so glad that Eric is a member of my PLN (personal learning network) and I will need to get him to autograph the book for me when I see hime at the Bammy's this September.
Tuesday, June 3 - PLN and Learning with the DEN
Today I particiapted in the first of what I hope will be many NOLA Tech Play Date. I met Marcie Hebert and Susie Toso at the PJs Coffee on David Dr. and we shared some great tech tips and tricks for about an hour and a half. Love learning new things with members of my PLN, especially face-2-face.
This evening I attended a DEN webinar about the DEN Ambassador Program. During this presentation I learned what is involved in being a part of this program. I signed up to be an Ambassador for my school and district. I hope my distict takes advantage of this program. I would love to share my DEN love with others in the JPPS system.
Monday, June 2 - Reading and Chatting
(I created this Tumblr on June 9, but am backing up and posting my learning from the previous days.)
Today I read The Elite which is the second book in the Selection series by Kiera Cass. I am becoming a lover of YA books.
Also hosted #4thchat on Twitter this evening where we discussed the topic How to Prevent the Summer Slide.
