Greetings Civilians! And welcome back to my blog! As promised on Monday, I am back with the how to make for my customized Pinky Pie figure. All in all, this custom took very little money and not a lot of time to make. So without further ado, here we go!

Step #1: Buy your figure!

I bought mine for $5 from a local gaming shop that I love, support, and am featured in. If you go to the link here, you can buy one from the manufacturer for the same price.

Step #2: Reference Pictures

I cannot stress this enough. Reference pictures save your life! Seriously, this process goes much smoother if you have images to stare at as you mold clay to the figure. I used the ever lovely Ryan Reynolds as my Deadpool reference images. You are free to use whatever version of Deadpool you so wish.

Step #3: Clay Time

This is the messiest step by far. I personally use paper clay. I tried it after watching a YouTuber (Corrine from Threadbanger) use it with ease. It's the best air dry clay I have ever used. For one, it dries pretty quickly depending on the thickness of the piece. What makes it amazing is that you can rewet it after it dries and it becomes remoldable. But as I said before, to each their own.

The figure is already primed to be painted. So what I do to start off is lightly sand the areas I will be modifying with clay. The reason for this is so that the clay will stick to the figure. After that, just start putting the clay on. I use these cheap rubber brushes to help me sculpt. After that, let it dry and then sand it to clean up rough spots.

Step #4: Katanas

Now it's time to make DP's infamous katanas. I used these small wooden dowel pieces I had, but you can use anything from popsicle sticks to a dry tree branch from your yard. I used my exacto knife to whittle the two katanas and sanded them smooth with sandpaper. I painted the blades with silver acrylic paint and the handles are black acrylic paint.

Step #5: Paint all the things

As it says above, paint the pony when ready. This is really where reference pictures come in handy big time. You have to get a little creative with the painting because obviously it's a pony, not a human. So sometimes things don't translate well in design. After painting and sealing it with a sealant of some kind (clear spray paint works fine in warm climates, Mr. Super Clear is the best though), all that's left is to super glue your figure to it's base and the katanas to the figure. I chose to use the base provided with the figure and kept it plain. You are free to make a different choice.

Yes indeed! I thought I would show off one of my smaller art pieces from late last year to get the ball rolling on this art blog. I made this piece using a WizKids MLP Pinky Pie model with some alterations and added props. I'm hoping to work on/post my how-to for this piece later today or tomorrow.

I may have just done this. Don't judge me!

Oh, duh! I forgot to introduce myself! Hi, my name is Nico. I am an androgynous gay alien with a preference for he/him Pronouns. I'm gonna be 25 on August 7th. I enjoy comics, video games, and long nights dungeon crawling with my Pathfinder friends. I have my Bachelor of the Arts degree in Visual Media Design and Photography. Basically, I'm really artsy fartsy.

And that leads us to what you can expect from me and my goals for this Tumblr. As I said above, I'm really hoping I can get my art out to the world. I do all sorts of art from common things like drawing and origami to doll repaints and slam poetry writing. I want to share my meager talents and create a safe and loving community. There will be hiccups and problems along the way, but that's life. I can't wait to share my processes and how-to's and maybe even some videos of me reciting my poems.
