megumi slander is so forced like do people forget he’s a 15 year old child who’s been dealing with abandonment issues and depression for like the entire show?? and yet solo’d a special grade by himself and made an incomplete domain more impressive than a few grade 1 sorcerers’. megumi peaked multiple times throughout the animanga - he had the potential to surpass gojo.

megumi didn’t get “killed by a 3rd grade”. megumi was exhausted after holding his domain open for nanami, maki and naobito. megumi was exhausted after being beat up and thrown across buildings by toji - the man who killed gojo. megumi was stabbed through the chest and as a last ditch effort summoned mahoraga, not even to kill the grade 3 but to complete his ritual. even in death’s face he made a calculated risk.

then comes the “potential man!” claims. buddy. i’m gonna hold your hands when i say this most jjk characters reached their absolute peak in that final fight with sukuna, and guess where megumi was during then — 🎉possessed by sukuna🎉. megumi was never given enough time to reach his peak.

he couldn’t get out of the abyss sukuna drowned him in, his body was basically in shackles with having being fed 19 fingers at once unlike yuji who had some time to adjust and had his body literally built to store sukuna, this kid who saw his sister - the one person he truly loved and trusted, the one person that never abandoned him - get killed by his own technique, watched his borderline father-figure also get butchered and so many of his friends suffer; while might i add already having depression canonically. and atop of all this sukuna used his soul as a meatshield against gojo’s UV and CT (not to ruffle any sukuna fans’ feathers - but he was the literal embodiment of evil so.), this poor barely 16 year old’s soul was taking direct hits from purple just so mahoraga could adapt for sukuna meanwhile that geezer stayed protected by malevolent shrine.

the last few panels break my heart because how can you look at that child and say “yea he could’ve done better”. yuji, my goat, being the only one who could pull fushiguro out of the abyss by talking to him as a kid wasn’t enough for these imbeciles to understand.

yeah the joke was funny for like 2 months before it got absolutely ruined by people that lack reading skills and media literacy. i miss the old lobotomy kaisen, not whatever the hell instagram ragebaiters think is funny now.

megumi, who realizes, that if he stays with his sister, and Gojo, and all of the other people who he has ever loved that have come and gone, that he’ll never see yuji again, because yuji is fated to exist forever as a cursed object, just waiting to help someone.

megumi who gives up a guaranteed eternal peace and happiness, in order to be reincarnated so he can have even the slightest chance of finding yuji again, and maybe finally accomplish his goal of saving him.

yuji who has outlived everyone he has ever loved, who is still lingering on, and trying to exist without grief consuming him. yuji who finally is starting to feel okay again, running into a 30 year old megumi, who looks and sounds completely different, but whose soul yuji could never forget.

yuji who desperately wants to turn away and pretend he’s wrong, that it’s not his megumi, but who can’t risk wasting even a single moment more of his time with megumi, not after they had lost so much time in the past.

yuji who watches a million different megumi’s find their way to him, all equally stubborn, all desperately trying to free him from his curse.
