After further research into the topic of liminal spaces. I realised that I can probably do a better job at visualising the steps. The ones from the research aren't bad, but I believe they are a little weak, the environments don't look uncanny, confusing at best. Though I also do know that a big part of liminality is the backstory of the area, but not always, with many great pictures being posted on the internet which make you feel this strange uncanny nostalgia, like a place you've seen before but off in some way, which you just can't place your finger on. I began my designs with the repetition as in my opinion it was the weakest out of all of the designs, the main reason for my opinion was because it seemed to end too quickly. When picturing a repeating corridor, having 5 cupboards next to each other with a phone and plant on top isn't quite as unnatural as I'd expect for a liminal space, looks more like very boring interior design then a creepy out-of-this-world space. One more smaller thing I can also improve on is the repetitive aspect, the phone and fake plant are things you can buy replicates off in the store and then place on the cupboards in a symmetrical location so the building looks clean. Even though it is repetitive, it just isn't enough to be uncanny. Here is my version,
Trying to go a little more direct with the repetitive aspects having the arrangement in the bowl repeat, which makes it feel a bit more deliberate and strange as well as the room numbers repeat, which is just strange enough for a person to feel that something isn't right here without shoving it into the viewers face, I did also exadurated the repetition about 5 times more then the research paper did.
