Writing for the underappreciated class

Mod Conundrum and Mod Iron have stopped running the blog a few weeks ago ! Conundrum isn't so much into mha as before, and Iron has a lot going on irl so I am currently the only mod of the blog !

As some of you might know, school as well as exams have started yet again for me and if I did not need sleep I'd probably be working 24/7 to manage all my assignments on time ":)

I'll be on hiatus kind of sort of for a while, maybe answering one or two short asks here or there, and I promise to catch up for all the lost time once things slow down a little. Thank you for your patience and understanding !

After bad days he is very silent; he's just emotionally drained from his mother's outburtsts and having to do everything at home and take care of his brother to make sure he's perfectly fine and not worried

He doesn't just have to calm his mother down and try to get her to sober up and such, he also needs to get her away from his brother, and calm down said brother, and clean the house, and do the groceries, and check if evrrything is okay... pile that up on all the hero work and studies and the boy has too much on his plate

Monoma doesn't talk at all because he's exhausted, except to greet his classmates and answer questions when he has to as to not arise suspicions.

When upset monoma smiles. It's a little thing he does to make himself believe everything is fine--and a thing he does to convince his brother that it's all okay. He just smiles a little, not the usual big bright boisterous smile; just a small one at the corner of his lips

When his classmates ask him more questions than usual he doesn't act annoyed at first, but if he loses his temper he just silently gets up and leaves. It's better leaving him alone to calm down before talking to him about what happened; which he'll explain but in very large terms

"My mom got a little mad because I forgot to buy [groceries]" is one of his basic excuses, one he uses most, but nobody really believes him

Everyone knows something is a little wrong and told Vlad King about it, but even he couldn't get a word out of monoma except a few things like his mother being a bit short-tempered and how he worries about his little brother

The class just wishes he would be more open about the matters and accept the help they are more than willing to give him. It takes a little time, and a lot of cuddling and silence, but eventually he will talk openly about it

Things will get better with the help of Vlad and some counselling, the monoma brothers deserve all the happiness

He has eyeliner. Sharpest eyeliner you've ever seen. Setsuna loves it so much he helps her with her make up too

One day Manga painted his nails black for the Emo Vibe and he loved it so now he's always got black nails. Makes Manga happy because he's often the one to paint them

He might appear like Bakugo, gruffy and angry on the outside, but although he screams a lot, he's very gentle when he needs to be

Green gang with Setsuna and Rin

Sometimes he makes blades and uses them to cook just for the hell of it. Monoma makes sure the blades are well polished and clean before he makes so and you might find him cleaning them with hand sanitizer

One day Tsuburaba hit blunt and went "Kamakiri, Sen, and I make a full blender"

It actually worked and Tsuburaba brags about his genius idea anytime he can

Kamakiri just wanted smoothies so he's okay with doing it again anytime

He's really good friends with Bondo ! The glue giant was shy about talking to him at first, but Kamakiri broke the ice and now they hang out a lot. Manga joins them when he's not drawing or busy annoying someone

Ibara finds his way of talking sinful but it does motivate the class well, so she decides to let it slide

I think it's now fanon that shishida has a big family hehe And I really like that input about mutation discrimination cause I feel like it's never talked about much in the manga at all !(except with habuko i think). It would be cool if we had more meta about that, for Ojiro for example, Shishida and OF COURSE our darling emo bug boy Kamakiri because im. Why is he Like That? Probably from a mutation in his family but other than that although I love the knife/bug crossover he is, I wonder

Oh my god I wish I had one of those

You know these cliche romance scenes with a small person who cant grab a book thats too high up for them so there's a tall one that does it for them instead ? Well imagine that except instead of a sexy big hand coming to help you have a t-rex grabby thing that brings the book down and I think that's even sexier and it sums up any interaction Manga has with anyone

Shoda does it too, once, to help Shishida, and it's very impressive

I remember these two from long long long ago,,,

Ferrets are known to be pretty aggressive if you're not careful with them. His ferrets have been domesticated though, so although they can be suspicious of the students they're kinda sweet

They've got their own place in a corner of the living room. Monoma chose it especially so they could see out of the window, and they're close enough to his room for him to come quickly is there is any issue

They were very mean with Shishida at first because he felt like a big predator animal. But slowly they accepted him, and now even allow to be pet !

Tsuburaba having a hard time for example the ferrets really, really don't like him. He got scratched up a few times, nothing too bad of course, but he doesn't want to go near them anymore

Monoma asks help from Rin to clean them up, because they're often not willing to take a bath, and they can easily protect themselves with scales. Asshole especially hates them, but if it's not clean it'll probably fall sick so,,,

Jasmin likes Shiozaki a lot. She is capable of calming both ferrets down very easily, and likes to go on walks in the forest with them. Monoma tags along often because it's his ferrets, but he knows they're safe with her.

Reiko and Yui really want to pet the ferrets. So does Kinoko. But it's not easy but they're trying step by step to get closer. Shishida helps them out !

Sen takes pictures of them when he's bored. Awase and Shoda just stare, they're too scared to try and touch them.

Angst is my favourite genre

He is very self-aware of when he goes out of control about 1a. He doesn't like it at all, because he makes a fool out of himself every time, and he works in order to control these outbursts better. He started by asking Kendou to stop hitting him, just dragging him away instead.

As he has spoken seriously about this issue to his classmates and asked of them to help him find better ways of containing himself, they don't laugh nor mock him during these moments

You know saying to someone "You should go to therapy/you're completely crazy/I wonder if you disorder has a name" (looking at YOU 1A) is not nice at all ? You don't know if the person actually has issues, don't know if they actually see a therapist, so don't make fun of them !

The regular level-headed Monoma actually kind of passes out during these episodes, so he doesn't remember what happened really well, and the repercussions such as rumours and students he doesn't know giving him the nasty side glance make him feel confused and lost in school

By this point, he even uses that loud and obnoxious part of him when people start speaking about him as "that crazy dude from 1b/dark side of ua" because he really doesn't have the strength to explain all the shit going on in his head to people who he just meets and who automatically label him as crazy.

-> see with Mirio, it was clear he wasn't actually going batshit, because it is implied he calmed down on his own before really meeting Eri. This is definitely a facade, something he puts up as last line of defense between judgements and his feelings, already hurt by everything

You know that feeling in your stomach when it just---drops and it's so cold ? That's the kind of feeling he has when he meets new people, terrified of what they are gonna greet him as. Having even Eraserhead call him too mentally deficient to interact with Eri safely was the last fucking blow, he entirely gave up on his image

The worst is people looking at him in the cafeteria for example as he has normal conversations with his friends. They seem to be surprised by the natural way he moves, the way he laughs, the way he speaks. It's the only thing he has against these rumours, and he is aware; he won't put up any facade in class or with his classmates

He definitely has had a bad childhood, if you see the hints given in his backstory of a panel long. He was isolated, not even looked at by his classmates who judged him useless and didn't want their quirks stolen. He was a little nobody, and it doesn't seem his parents or family helped him at all in the matter.

Yeah I know it's only one panel but it has too much potential I mean---the panel is empty. There's just one, FACELESS kid in the middle of it. It's disturbing how Horikoshi managed to hint to a devastating loneliness and an absence of face, of personality, wearing a constant mask that wasn't his, on a metaphorical level.

Monoma always calls him when he tries out new recipes because he needs advice from a PROFESSIONAL

Usually it's very good so Shishida finds excuses to take more bites like "I didn't quite get that taste" and such

He finishes the plate up ouch

But it's +1 to Monoma's ego everytime that happens

Shishida is always very conscious to be kind in his critique so if it's bad he'll help the person to improve it !

Except when it's really bad then he would rather be blunt about something that cannot change

Rin sometimes mixes up his tea bags and gets Shishida to smell them to tell him which is which

It's very effective !
