You are long. And hand many limbs. I bet cuddle with you is so comfy

"I would not - would that be the case - long?"
1 000 silkflies enter the architect's workshop, 1 was painted blue and a few were holding a letter. The ones holding the letter seemed to struggle to hold it up.
"sorry for the smaller delivery, there was a silkfly that requested a specific body and I wanted to get them quickly to you for it, I painted them blue. I was going to be attacked by these silkflies as well until the blue one stopped them. They were sitting on a pile of tools I had never seen before when-
I remember those tools! They were all designed by the ninth architect!
They were sitting on a pile of tools designed by the ninth architect when they called out telling everyone to stop attacking me. They used a tiny device to say their thoughts out loud, it seems to work with any silkfly, it can be found in the letter. They requested to have a body based off of the blueprints for the aforementioned ninth architect with whatever improvements you can think of.
- the fifth of sentinels"
@fifth-sentinal-official
The Twelfth Architect read the letter. As they did, they had... a thought...
Could this truly be... the Ninth?
They stared at the blue silk fly. Then, they got to work, finding the Ninth Architect's blueprints. They then got quill and paper, designing a new version. Most of the exterior would be identical, if a tiny bit more durable, but the insides would be upgraded with a newer, more efficient core that would be resistant to wear and tear, allowing it to last an age. The same would be true of the other parts.
With that, they began building the body. They turned to the blue silk fly as they did so, and asked, "Ninth... Is th-th-that you?"
(269,931 / 900,027 silk flies collected. 905,103 / ??? lumaflies collected)
They spoke through the device.
whaaaaaaaat, nooooooooooooooo... How well do you understand sarcasm actually? I was being sarcastic, I am ninth. I wish I wasn't though! But now the damage has been done it's all I can be. So why don't I indulge myself in the old times? Remember to make all the parts the right size!

Question could I have an extra arm with an h&k69? It's a type of gun I designed that launches bombs.
Ooc: just to be clear an h&k69 is a real gun that launches bombs. I suggest you look them up so you know what they look like.
The Twelfth Architect had not detected the sarcasm. "I c-c-can detect sarcasm, but I failed to in that sentence," They explained, before listening to the Ninth Architect more.
... And hearing their request for a weapon attachment.
"... That p-p-particular weapon would be outside of my abilities-skills unless I were to be given a blueprint. However, I c-c-can equip you with a built-in Silk Shot or Panzerfaust, if you would like?"
(OOC: A Panzerfaust is also a real weapon, one Twelfth got the blueprints for back when this blog was still in its early days. It is a single-use anti-tank shot.)
Oh-ho-ho! I like when you're heads at! Get me one of those!
The wings began buzzing in excitement.
I would also like some blueprints some time for those! I have an idea...
... This was, without a doubt, the exact opposite of what the Twelfth had expected from the Ninth.
They had been expecting a kind and peaceful inventor. Not someone who was excited about terrifying weapons.
... They did not need another Fourteenth Architect.
"Understood," They said, before getting to work on constructing another built-in Silk Shot, editing the design to include it. "And I have the b-b-blueprints-designs for both of those weapons, th-though I would like to think we should pr-prioritize creating a sustainable and habitable kingdom, and m-m-making the Citadel a better place, over blowing it all to kingdom come."
I'm not planning to blow it all to kingdom come! From my 3 centuries of experience I can tell you all the conductors want from us architects are weapons and the occasional ask for a better silk siphon which I cannot build. I would've been focusing on creating better air regulation so that the steam doesn't destroy the voices tracheae. Or if you want to get really ambitious try to clean Bilewater from all that citadel waste. Or work on making the underworks and cogwork core less dangerous. I would've done many things that the conductors would never let me do in 1000 millennia!
The Twelfth Architect felt positively GIDDY as they processed this information.
"Well... You are in l-l-luck," The Twelfth Architect said. "As far as I am a-able to glean, the Conductors are either all d-dead, or otherwise unable to enforce their authority. And as a matter of f-f-fact, I have constructed a fil-filtration system for Bilewater's pollution and the Cit-Citadel's waste, ensuring that Bilewater gets cleaner over time. I have re-renovated the Underworks to make it safer, though... I n-never considered doing it to the Cogwork Core. The Core is j-just for automatons, who are well-equipped to survive its hazards. And... I n-n-never even realized that there was such severe air pollution from steam... P-Possibly because I don't require air..."
The Twelfth Architect had begun putting the finishing touches on the Ninth's new (and large, at least to the Twelfth) body as they said, "Ninth... I bel-believe we will get along perfectly well."
My programming forces me to listen to anything a conductor says, they don't want something? I am incapable of doing it, they want me to do something? I am forced to do it. Unless you know runecraft well enough to change my runecage I'll have no luck with the "unable to enforce authority" part. You know I had actually designed a prototype for the air filtering system and the most efficient spots to put them for the build of the citadel at the time. I just never got to install them.
"Runecraft-based programming? ... I m-m-might be able to do something. I had b-b-been hoping you would operate on music-based programming; it is the perfect ex-excuse for you to meet the Thirteenth Architect. Also, I am the Twelfth, if you are unaware... Runecraft-based programming..." The Twelfth Architect thought for a moment.
And then realized something.
"... Such a runecage would be e-etched on a new body-shell. C-Can I not simply choose to... not etch the runecage on your new body? Or is there a re-reason you require a runecage?" They asked. "Fu-Furthermore, I... I might be skilled enough to al-alter your runecage. I do know someone more skilled... But she has si-simply been too busy to contact at the moment." Yivel, how I wish I could speak with you... I have so much to share.
"A-And I would gladly assist you with installing the air filtration system once your new body-shell if com-complete."
A rune cage makes a cogwork bug who they are, their everything is inside there. Unless you want me to completely lose all my memory and skill it would be wise to install one. I can write the rune on some paper if you give me a pen that doesn't require you to push very hard.
"... One moment," The Twelfth Architect said, building a new kind of pen and handing it to the Ninth. "There you g-go. I... Will see what I can do, when it c-comes to modifying the runecage."
They sketch a rune, it seemed to be for putting in a repeating pattern.
This is my original rune cage.
The sketch another rune, it was the same rune as before but the bottom left part had been removed.
And this is what I want. Just fill that corner with random scribbles in the pattern. It will have no effect as it does nothing.
"... I see..." The Twelfth Architect paused, and then began thinking, trying to think of what random patterns to put into the bottom left part.
... And they soon discovered something interesting.
"... It ap-appears I cannot conceive of a random scribble to put into the pattern w-without losing sight of the rest of the rune. This m-m-makes sense: Runes are different for each individual, and this is be-because runes only gain their meaning in the mind of the artist, not in the shape of the rune. However... This runecage you r-right will look different in my motif," They explained.
"However... I c-c-can come up with a solution... It will still have no ef-effect, but it won't be a random scribble."
Instead, the Twelfth Architect began writing a new version of the runecage, replacing the bottom left part... with the runic symbol for "Nothing." For a lack of something, for an absence. Because intention matters, this addition did have no effect.
"Will this rune suffice?" The Twelfth Architect asked. "If n-not, I do have one more idea."
It'll work just as well as anything I can think of. I'm ready to hop in when you are.
The silkfly sat still as a click came from the device, turning it off.
"Understood."
The Twelfth Architect then applied the runecage to the silk fly containment unit within the new body-shell, before applying more runes to the body-shell. These were runes designed to make the body strong and resilient against wear-and-tear and the elements, to ensure it would last an age.
Once finished, they said, "Your body is now ready."
The silkfly carefully put themselves in the silkfly containment unit. As the face mask closed they jolted to life.
Wow I feel amazing! My thoughts feel so much clearer now that the conductor coding is missing! Seeing you with these, you are a beautiful creation twelth of make. I can finally see what my child- tenth's legacy has come to... Now you said there was a thirteenth architect? May I meet them. Are there any others still alive?
The Twelfth Architect perked up. "Thank you. I am gl-glad you find me beautiful. As for meeting the Thirteenth Architect, yes, you may meet them. And yes, there is o-o-one other Architect, the Fourteenth," The Twelfth said, before stepping out the door. "I can br-bring you to the Thirteenth now."
They walk over to the twelfth, following them on their way to the workshop. They were a little clumsy as they had not been in a regular body for a while.
Eventually they reached thirteenth's workshop.
Greetings, thirteenth of make.
They do the best bow their body allows.
The Thirteenth Architect looked up. "Oh! Hello! Who are you?"
"This is the Ninth Architect," The Twelfth explained. "Their si-si-silk fly was recently located, and I crafted-created a new body for them at their request."
"Oh, wonderful!" The Thirteenth Architect said. "How are you feeling, Ninth?"
I feel wonderful-
They calculated for half a second.
-grand grand grand child. Or at least what you would be chronologically if there isn't something like a twelfth-and-half architect.
"There is a Twelfth-And-A-Half Architect," The Twelfth Architect said. "I... don't know where they are. It has b-b-been a while since I have seen them."
Why would such a person be constructed? Is it like a baby version of yourself you get to care for and coddle? I would not blame you for making such a creation I think it's a wonderful idea.
"I did not con-construct them," The Twelfth Architect explained. "They were given to me. And I know not if they're nec-necessarily an infant, but they are very small."
Ooc: sorry for taking so long to respond. I had a migraine for the first time in my life and so I just went to bed as quickly as possible. It was late in my timezone anyway.
I meant baby not strictly as infant but more so young of mental age. An important thing to know about for intelligent automatons, otherwise you may leave them unhappy because you don't know how to treat them. For example I designed "the fifth sentinel" misspelled as "the fifth sentinal" on my blueprints. He has a very low "mental age value" on a scale where low mental age is already dumber than average. Thus treating him like a regular automaton will leave him unhappy, not knowing who to trust and emotionally bottled.
"... Okay?" The Twelfth said, not really knowing what to do with this information. "I have no i-i-idea what the Twelfth-And-A-Half's age is; I did not make them!"
Any intelligently designed robot has a command to make them tell you that. For such a wonder of something as smart as an architect in such a small body would for sure have been designed by a genius. Can I meet the little creature?
But perhaps I should talk a little more with the thirteenth. You clearly have many pieces of audio equipment. Do you have a specialty in such things?
"... N-None of the automatons I've created have any of that programming," The Twelfth Architect said. "Or any programming at all. Th-They are free to be the masters of their fates. That is wh-what I prefer."
"But sure. You ca-can meet the Twelfth-And-A-Half... if we can find them."
"'Specialty' i-i-isn't right, but I have a f-fondness and talent for music! I even got this harp from a First Child!" The Thirteenth pulled out the golden harp that Yivel had given them for Snow Moon.
I don't believe you've met a first child. Those were dead and gone far before I even was created. That they return far after my death is preposterous.
I'm guessing they have a bit of an imagination? It's something usual for lower intermediate mental age values. From 4-9 on scale_beetle for example.
Ooc: I've taken scale_beetle to basically be human ages.
"No. I bel-believed them to be dead as well, but I've been proven wrong ti-ti-time and time ag-again." They paused. "Also, I am in a c-c-committed romantic relationship with the First Child who Thirteenth mentioned. Her name is Y-Yivel, and she taught me runecraft. She is the re-reason I am able to stand here before you at all, as she effectively saved my life. I wo-would've broken down, and my silk fly been lost, long ago, if n-not for learning runecraft and being able to re-replicate my Crest in Runecraft.
"... Also, I believe that Thirteenth is closer to a young adult. P-Perhaps a teenager."
In proper terms that would be "high intermediate" to "high performance," understood. Imagination at such a scale is not logical for these values. Nor do I believe you to have a reason to lie to me or the mental age value where you would have similar imaginations. I guess the first children have come back. I assume they are now the rulers of the citadel? You said the conductors no longer have power.
I have this Yivel to thank as well, without her you would not know the runecraft to rebuild me. Though perhaps my disassembly was fair, I was notorious for consistently creating automatons with low mental age values. They are a bit harder to make use of.
"They are... not in charge of the Citadel, actually. There aren't qu-quite enough of them to do so, and f-few even have such an ambition. I suppose no one officially is, though I believe we should be in charge. I th-think we're... about the best authority figures here, Ninth," The Twelfth said. "Though Trinn, the Sentinel that was cr-created by your predecessor, the Eighth, has put itself in charge of r-reforming the Whiteward. To be clear, I ap-approved of this. The Whiteward needed reformation. This whole C-Citadel does..." They paused. "And you made m-many au-automatons with low mental age values? ... Why?"
Pure accident! A simple failure of my work. Though I don't personally mind, the conductors certainly did. I somehow was very consistent with creating intelligent automatons even when I didn't want to yet I was also consistent on making them children. Though creating my true ambitions like improving the citadel for its holy voices fairly judged would not be capable of such fault.
"What a s-silly accident," The Twelfth concurred. "But alright. You men-mentioned plans for improving the Citadel? D-Do tell. I recall you mentioning an air filter."
Yes! The trachea of the bugs of the citadel are getting filled with smog and exhaust and it is leading them to sickness. Some of these sicknesses can even be deadly! And a bug who serves must never die. I have mostly finished designs for small air filtration systems that can be placed all over the citadel. These will clean the air and turn the smog into energy for us to use, though it is a small amount of energy for a large amount of smog. I also have a map for the most efficient places for these to go. Both of these are in the grand book of architects, I assume you have it? Last time I was alive I had left it in my workshop with the fifth sentinel. I was showing him the design for this new chair I built that could go really high.
"I d-do have that book, yes!" The Twelfth Architect said. "The Fifth Se-Sentinel gave it to me for Sn-Snow Moon. And... I believe you speak of my chair? Or per-perhaps my chair is si-simply based on your design. Could yours ro-rotate?"
"You l-left the book with me, Twelfth," The Thirteenth spoke up, handing the book to the Twelfth Architect.
"That's right! I for-for-forgot!" The Twelfth Architect said. "Thank you, Thirteenth."
"You're welcome!" The Thirteenth said cheerfully.
Oh my silk could it rotate! I could make it rotate so fast it broke several times during testing and I had to make it slower!
Thank you thirteenth for giving it. You are very sweet.
Now, shall we review the design? I had not completely refined it to perfection just yet, I had gotten a bit stumped. A new set of eyes will most certainly help this design improve!
The Twelfth averted their eyes for a moment as they said, "Er. My... also broke, when I tried to spin it too qui-quickly. I do bel-believe you designed my chair, then. Th-Thank you; it has served me well. And yes, we may review the design. I am h-happy to help in such a noble endeavor."
"You are most welcome, Ninth," Thirteenth said.
Alright.
They grab the book.
Page 56... There it is! Here is the design, I was still figuring out the most optimal way for it to ingest the most smoke it can without overloading itself.
The Twelfth Architect thought for a moment. "Th-There is the option of trying to ti-time the rate perfectly, but it wo-would be difficult..." They mused.
Then they had a thought.
"... We could use the Detection symbol to cr-create a rune that will detect when the machine is at its limits, and then slow down or c-c-c-cease the ingestion so it will not overload itself," They suggested.
So your solution is to make it gulp everything in at once until it's full and then make it stop. I'm skeptical, I was more searching for a way to limit the intake to just the right amount so it's constantly working. It would purify more air faster I just don't know how to build it.
"That... Is not what I was tr-trying to suggest. It wouldn't be all at once, it wo-would be a steady flow m-most of the time. My sug-suggestion was that the Detection symbol would be used to de-detect how much air is coming in, and adjust the intake based on that," The Twelfth Architect explained, "Slowing down the in-intake if there's more air, and sp-speeding up the intake if there's less."
14th rapidly scuttles into the workshop.
“Heard talk - explosives - weapons - launcher attachment - help?”
“Who is this?”
"Mm?" The Twelfth Architect said, turning to the Fourteenth. "Oh, hello Fourteenth! This," They gestured to the Ninth, "Is the Ninth Architect, with a newly re-re-rebuilt body-shell. They wanted an explosive pr-pr-projectile launcher attachment, but I d-didn't know how to make such a device, and s-so I decided to simply give them a Silk Shot attachment instead. B-B-But if you can help, we can replace it with the attachment they originally wanted."
The Twelfth Architect turned back to the Ninth. "This is the F-F-Fourteenth Architect," The Twelfth said, gesturing to the bug in question. "They are sk-skilled with the cr-crafting-creation of explosives."

14th scuttles into the primary workshop. “you’ve been working on flight - right? - I also have a project - needs flight”

We do not have a preference on names.
Well…
A bug we cared for was once called Elora. They are long gone by now. But perhaps that is an ok name for us.
(ooc: i may be a little slow to respond, something came up lmao)
“Okay, Elora - a nice name”
“Twelfth - ready to go?”
"Hold on," The Twelfth Architect said, before grabbing paper, a Silk Shot, and an Audio Archiver. "I am n-n-now ready."
@14th-architect
*The group begins to journey to the bellways, 14th moving at a slower pace to allow the others to keep up*
Along the way, 14th turns to Twelfth Architect
“Why is it - you want to make flight?”
The Twelfth Architect considered the question. "Partially out of ac-ac-accessibility. Many areas of Pharloom are only easily traversible by fl-fl-flying bugs, so creating powered flight for bugs who cannot fly... Very, very useful. Also, I'd like to be able to fly, I think. I want all who desire it to be able to t-t-take to the skies."
(The group has arrived at mount fay)
14th disables his cooling systems
“We’re here”
14th immediately gets distracted by a driftlin, pulling out a quill and paper, and beginning to take notes and talk to themself, all the while constantly pacing.
“Floating - no movement - wing shape - spinning?”

So what did you do with that bomb thing?
"I at-at-attempted to construct safety measures around it. However, an anonymous bug licked the explosive, and it exploded. I... I don't know whether or not they survived. But it is my re-re-regret to have failed in taking the necessary safety precautions," The Twelfth Architect answered.
14th rushes into the room
“Explosives?”
14th took the crystal sphere they had bought, and tinkered with it throughout the evening, adding legs, a battery pack, and a hatch.
“Done - for now - where’s void.”
New Design: C.R.A.W.L unit
A mechanical construct similar in shape and size to a weaverling, this is designed to allow the void to explore more easily. It utilizes the black threading properties of silk to power itself, and allow the occupying void control of the legs. It also has a standard battery to allow for bursts of speed, although it must be recharged eventually. The void is stored in the clear crystal sphere, with a small hatch for entrance and exit.
@voidgivenformofficial
“Your thoughts - wanna try it out?”
The room grows dimmer as a childish giggle echoes through.
A single drop of Void drips down from the ceiling and into the unit. It expands to fill the rest of the space.
The Automaton springs to life before scuttling around the room, then stopping in front of The Architect.
IT IS PERFECT.
WE THANK YOU GREATLY.
WE LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT.
”The next step - flight - believe 12th is working on that - can also visit mount fay to study - want to come?”
